حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ غُلَامًا لِيَهُودَ کَانَ يَخْدُمُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَمَرِضَ فَأَتَاهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَعُودُهُ فَقَالَ أَسْلِمْ فَأَسْلَمَ وَقَالَ سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ لَمَّا حُضِرَ أَبُو طَالِبٍ جَائَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

Narrated `Aisha: During the ailment of the Prophet some people came to visits him. He led them in prayer while sitting. but they prayed standing, so he waved to them to sit down. When he had finished the prayer, he said, "An Imam is to be followed, so when he bows, you should bow. and when he raises his head, you should raise yours, and if he prays sitting. you should pray sitting." Abu `Abdullah said Al-Humaidi said, (The order of ) "This narration has been abrogated by the last action of the Prophet as he led the prayer sitting, while the people prayed standing behind him.'

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّی حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ نَاسٌ يَعُودُونَهُ فِي مَرَضِهِ فَصَلَّی بِهِمْ جَالِسًا فَجَعَلُوا يُصَلُّونَ قِيَامًا فَأَشَارَ إِلَيْهِمْ اجْلِسُوا فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ قَالَ إِنَّ الْإِمَامَ لَيُؤْتَمُّ بِهِ فَإِذَا رَکَعَ فَارْکَعُوا وَإِذَا رَفَعَ فَارْفَعُوا وَإِنْ صَلَّی جَالِسًا فَصَلُّوا جُلُوسًا قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد اللَّهِ قَالَ الْحُمَيْدِيُّ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ مَنْسُوخٌ لِأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ آخِرَ مَا صَلَّی صَلَّی قَاعِدًا وَالنَّاسُ خَلْفَهُ قِيَامٌ

Narrated Sa`d: I became seriously ill at Mecca and the Prophet came to visit me. I said, "O Allah's Apostle! I shall leave behind me a good fortune, but my heir is my only daughter; shall I bequeath two third of my property to be spent in charity and leave one third (for my heir)?" He said, "No." I said, "Shall I bequeath half and leave half?" He said, "No." I said, "Shall I bequeath one third and leave two thirds?" He said, "One third is alright, though even one third is too much." Then he placed his hand on his forehead and passed it over my face and `Abdomen and said, "O Allah! Cure Sa`d and complete his emigration." I feel as if I have been feeling the coldness of his hand on my liver ever since.

حَدَّثَنَا الْمَکِّيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَخْبَرَنَا الْجُعَيْدُ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ بِنْتِ سَعْدٍ أَنَّ أَبَاهَا قَالَ تَشَکَّيْتُ بِمَکَّةَ شَکْوًا شَدِيدًا فَجَائَنِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَعُودُنِي فَقُلْتُ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ إِنِّي أَتْرُکُ مَالًا وَإِنِّي لَمْ أَتْرُکْ إِلَّا ابْنَةً وَاحِدَةً فَأُوصِي بِثُلُثَيْ مَالِي وَأَتْرُکُ الثُّلُثَ فَقَالَ لَا قُلْتُ فَأُوصِي بِالنِّصْفِ وَأَتْرُکُ النِّصْفَ قَالَ لَا قُلْتُ فَأُوصِي بِالثُّلُثِ وَأَتْرُکُ لَهَا الثُّلُثَيْنِ قَالَ الثُّلُثُ وَالثُّلُثُ کَثِيرٌ ثُمَّ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَی جَبْهَتِهِ ثُمَّ مَسَحَ يَدَهُ عَلَی وَجْهِي وَبَطْنِي ثُمَّ قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ اشْفِ سَعْدًا وَأَتْمِمْ لَهُ هِجْرَتَهُ فَمَا زِلْتُ أَجِدُ بَرْدَهُ عَلَی کَبِدِي فِيمَا يُخَالُ إِلَيَّ حَتَّی السَّاعَةِ

Narrated `Abdullah bin Mas`ud: I visited Allah's Apostle while he was suffering from a high fever. I touched him with my hand and said, "O Allah's Apostle! You have a high fever." Allah's Apostle said, "Yes, I have as much fever as two men of you have." I said, "Is it because you will get a double reward?" Allah's Apostle said, "Yes, no Muslim is afflicted with harm because of sickness or some other inconvenience, but that Allah will remove his sins for him as a tree sheds its leaves."

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ قَالَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ دَخَلْتُ عَلَی رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يُوعَکُ وَعْکًا شَدِيدًا فَمَسِسْتُهُ بِيَدِي فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّکَ لَتُوعَکُ وَعْکًا شَدِيدًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَجَلْ إِنِّي أُوعَکُ کَمَا يُوعَکُ رَجُلَانِ مِنْکُمْ فَقُلْتُ ذَلِکَ أَنَّ لَکَ أَجْرَيْنِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَجَلْ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يُصِيبُهُ أَذًی مَرَضٌ فَمَا سِوَاهُ إِلَّا حَطَّ اللَّهُ لَهُ سَيِّئَاتِهِ کَمَا تَحُطُّ الشَّجَرَةُ وَرَقَهَا

Narrated `Abdullah: I visited the Prophet during his illness and touched him while he was having a fever. I said to him, "You have a high fever; is it because you will get a double reward?" He said, "Yes. No Muslim is afflicted with any harm, but that his sins will be annulled as the leave of a tree fall down."

حَدَّثَنَا قَبِيصَةُ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَرَضِهِ فَمَسِسْتُهُ وَهُوَ يُوعَکُ وَعْکًا شَدِيدًا فَقُلْتُ إِنَّکَ لَتُوعَکُ وَعْکًا شَدِيدًا وَذَلِکَ أَنَّ لَکَ أَجْرَيْنِ قَالَ أَجَلْ وَمَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يُصِيبُهُ أَذًی إِلَّا حَاتَّتْ عَنْهُ خَطَايَاهُ کَمَا تَحَاتُّ وَرَقُ الشَّجَرِ

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Allah's Apostle entered upon sick man to pay him a visit, and said to him, "Don't worry, Allah willing, (your sickness will be) an expiation for your sins." The man said, "No, it is but a fever that is boiling within an old man and will send him to his grave." On that, the Prophet said, "Then yes, it is so."

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ خَالِدٍ عَنْ عِکْرِمَةَ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ عَلَی رَجُلٍ يَعُودُهُ فَقَالَ لَا بَأْسَ طَهُورٌ إِنْ شَائَ اللَّهُ فَقَالَ کَلَّا بَلْ حُمَّی تَفُورُ عَلَی شَيْخٍ کَبِيرٍ کَيْمَا تُزِيرَهُ الْقُبُورَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَنَعَمْ إِذًا

Narrated Usama bin Zaid: The Prophet rode a donkey having a saddle with a Fadakiyya velvet covering. He mounted me behind him and went to visit Sa`d bin 'Ubada, and that had been before the battle of Badr. The Prophet proceeded till he passed by a gathering in which `Abdullah bin Ubai bin Salul was present, and that had been before `Abdullah embraced Islam. The gathering comprised of Muslims, polytheists, i.e., isolators and Jews. `Abdullah bin Rawaha was also present in that gathering. When dust raised by the donkey covered the gathering, `Abdullah bin Ubai covered his nose with his upper garment and said, "Do not trouble us with dust." The Prophet greeted them, stopped and dismounted. Then he invited them to Allah (i.e., to embrace Islam) and recited to them some verses of the Holy Qur'an. On that, `Abdullah bin Ubai said, "O man ! There is nothing better than what you say if it is true. Do not trouble us with it in our gathering, but return to your house, and if somebody comes to you, teach him there." On that `Abdullah bin Rawaha said, Yes, O Allah's Apostle! Bring your teachings to our gathering, for we love that." So the Muslims, the pagans and the Jews started abusing each other till they were about to fight. The Prophet kept on quietening them till they became calm. Thereupon the Prophet mounted his animal and proceeded till he entered upon Sa`d bin Ubada. He said to him "O Sa`d! Have you not heard what Abu Hubab (i.e., `Abdullah bin Ubai) said?" Sa`d said, 'O Allah's Apostle! Excuse and forgive him, for Allah has given you what He has given you. The people of this town (Medina decided unanimously to crown him and make him their chief by placing a turban on his head, but when that was prevented by the Truth which Allah had given you he (`Abdullah bin Ubai) was grieved out of jealously, and that was the reason which caused him to behave in the way you have seen."

حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَی بْنُ بُکَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ أَنَّ أُسَامَةَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَکِبَ عَلَی حِمَارٍ عَلَی إِکَافٍ عَلَی قَطِيفَةٍ فَدَکِيَّةٍ وَأَرْدَفَ أُسَامَةَ وَرَائَهُ يَعُودُ سَعْدَ بْنَ عُبَادَةَ قَبْلَ وَقْعَةِ بَدْرٍ فَسَارَ حَتَّی مَرَّ بِمَجْلِسٍ فِيهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أُبَيٍّ ابْنُ سَلُولَ وَذَلِکَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسْلِمَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَفِي الْمَجْلِسِ أَخْلَاطٌ مِنْ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَالْمُشْرِکِينَ عَبَدَةِ الْأَوْثَانِ وَالْيَهُودِ وَفِي الْمَجْلِسِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ رَوَاحَةَ فَلَمَّا غَشِيَتْ الْمَجْلِسَ عَجَاجَةُ الدَّابَّةِ خَمَّرَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أُبَيٍّ أَنْفَهُ بِرِدَائِهِ قَالَ لَا تُغَبِّرُوا عَلَيْنَا فَسَلَّمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَوَقَفَ وَنَزَلَ فَدَعَاهُمْ إِلَی اللَّهِ فَقَرَأَ عَلَيْهِمْ الْقُرْآنَ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أُبَيٍّ يَا أَيُّهَا الْمَرْئُ إِنَّهُ لَا أَحْسَنَ مِمَّا تَقُولُ إِنْ کَانَ حَقًّا فَلَا تُؤْذِنَا بِهِ فِي مَجْلِسِنَا وَارْجِعْ إِلَی رَحْلِکَ فَمَنْ جَائَکَ فَاقْصُصْ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ ابْنُ رَوَاحَةَ بَلَی يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَاغْشَنَا بِهِ فِي مَجَالِسِنَا فَإِنَّا نُحِبُّ ذَلِکَ فَاسْتَبَّ الْمُسْلِمُونَ وَالْمُشْرِکُونَ وَالْيَهُودُ حَتَّی کَادُوا يَتَثَاوَرُونَ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّی سَکَتُوا فَرَکِبَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَابَّتَهُ حَتَّی دَخَلَ عَلَی سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَيْ سَعْدُ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعْ مَا قَالَ أَبُو حُبَابٍ يُرِيدُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أُبَيٍّ قَالَ سَعْدٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ اعْفُ عَنْهُ وَاصْفَحْ فَلَقَدْ أَعْطَاکَ اللَّهُ مَا أَعْطَاکَ وَلَقَدْ اجْتَمَعَ أَهْلُ هَذِهِ الْبَحْرَةِ عَلَی أَنْ يُتَوِّجُوهُ فَيُعَصِّبُوهُ فَلَمَّا رَدَّ ذَلِکَ بِالْحَقِّ الَّذِي أَعْطَاکَ شَرِقَ بِذَلِکَ فَذَلِکَ الَّذِي فَعَلَ بِهِ مَا رَأَيْتَ

Narrated Jabir: The Prophet came to visit me (while I was sick) and he was riding neither a mule, nor a horse.

حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ هُوَ ابْنُ المُنْکَدِرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ جَائَنِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَعُودُنِي لَيْسَ بِرَاکِبِ بَغْلٍ وَلَا بِرْذَوْنٍ

Narrated Ka`b bin 'Ujara: The Prophet passed by me while I was kindling a fire under a (cooking) pot. He said, "Do the lice of your head trouble you?" I said, "Yes." So he called a barber to shave my head and ordered me to make expiation for that."

جَائَنِي النَّبِيُّ يَعُودُنِي لَيْسَ بِرَاکِبِ بَغْلٍ وَلَا بِرْذَوْنٍ ← جَابِرٍ ← مُحَمَّدٍ هُوَ ابْنُ المُنْکَدِرِ ← سُفْيَانَ، ← عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، ← عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ،

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ مَنْ ضَفَّرَ فَلْيَحْلِقْ وَلَا تَشَبَّهُوا بِالتَّلْبِيدِ وَکَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُلَبِّدًا

Narrated Ibn `Umar: I heard Allah's Apostle, while he was in the state of lhram and his hair was stuck together with gum, saying, "Labbaik, Allahumma Labbaik, Labbaik La Shanka laka Labbaik. Inn-al-Hamda Wan-Ni'mata Laka wal-Mulk, La Shanka Lak." He did not add anything to those words. (See Hadith No. 621, Vol. 2)

Narrated Hafsa: (the wife of the Prophet) I said, "O Allah's Apostle! Why have the people finished their Ihram after performing the `Umra while you have not finished your lhram after your `Umra?" He said, "I have done Talbid (of my hair) and have decorated my Hadis with garlands, so I shall not finish my lhram till l have slaughtered my Hadi (animal for sacrifice).

حَدَّثَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِکٌ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ حَفْصَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا شَأْنُ النَّاسِ حَلُّوا بِعُمْرَةٍ وَلَمْ تَحْلِلْ أَنْتَ مِنْ عُمْرَتِکَ قَالَ إِنِّي لَبَّدْتُ رَأْسِي وَقَلَّدْتُ هَدْيِي فَلَا أَحِلُّ حَتَّی أَنْحَرَ

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The Prophet used to copy the people of the Scriptures in matters in which there was no order from Allah. The people of the Scripture used to let their hair hang down while the pagans used to part their hair. So the Prophet let his hair hang down first, but later on he parted it.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ کَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُحِبُّ مُوَافَقَةَ أَهْلِ الْکِتَابِ فِيمَا لَمْ يُؤْمَرْ فِيهِ وَکَانَ أَهْلُ الْکِتَابِ يَسْدِلُونَ أَشْعَارَهُمْ وَکَانَ الْمُشْرِکُونَ يَفْرُقُونَ رُئُوسَهُمْ فَسَدَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَاصِيَتَهُ ثُمَّ فَرَقَ بَعْدُ

Narrated `Aisha: As if I am now looking at the shine of the hair parting of the Prophet while he was in the state of lhram.
