حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الْمُرَادِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ عَنْ حَيْوَةَ وَسَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ وَغَيْرِهِمَا عَنْ کَعْبِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ الْمُؤَذِّنَ فَقُولُوا مِثْلَ مَا يَقُولُ ثُمَّ صَلُّوا عَلَيَّ فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ صَلَّی عَلَيَّ صَلَاةً صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ بِهَا عَشْرًا ثُمَّ سَلُوا اللَّهَ لِي الْوَسِيلَةَ فَإِنَّهَا مَنْزِلَةٌ فِي الْجَنَّةِ لَا تَنْبَغِي إِلَّا لِعَبْدٍ مِنْ عِبَادِ اللَّهِ وَأَرْجُو أَنْ أَکُونَ أَنَا هُوَ فَمَنْ سَأَلَ لِي الْوَسِيلَةَ حَلَّتْ لَهُ الشَّفَاعَةُ

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported: When you hear the call (to prayer), repeat what the Mu'adhdhin pronounces.

حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَهْضَمٍ الثَّقَفِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ غَزِيَّةَ عَنْ خُبَيْبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ إِسَافٍ عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا قَالَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ اللَّهُ أَکْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَکْبَرُ فَقَالَ أَحَدُکُمْ اللَّهُ أَکْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَکْبَرُ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ قَالَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ قَالَ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ حَيَّ عَلَی الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ حَيَّ عَلَی الْفَلَاحِ قَالَ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ اللَّهُ أَکْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَکْبَرُ قَالَ اللَّهُ أَکْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَکْبَرُ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ مِنْ قَلْبِهِ دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ

Abdullah b. Amr b. al-As reported Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) as saying: When you hear the Mu'adhdhin, repeat what he says, then invoke a blessing on me, for everyone who invokes a blessing on me will receive ten blessings from Allah; then beg from Allah al-Wasila for me, which is a rank in Paradise fitting for only one of Allah's servants, and I hope that I may be that one. If anyone who asks that I be given the Wasila, he will be assured of my intercession.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ الْحُکَيْمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ الْقُرَشِيِّ ح و حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ عَنْ الْحُکَيْمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَنْ قَالَ حِينَ يَسْمَعُ الْمُؤَذِّنَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيکَ لَهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ رَضِيتُ بِاللَّهِ رَبًّا وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولًا وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا غُفِرَ لَهُ ذَنْبُهُ قَالَ ابْنُ رُمْحٍ فِي رِوَايَتِهِ مَنْ قَالَ حِينَ يَسْمَعُ الْمُؤَذِّنَ وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ وَلَمْ يَذْکُرْ قُتَيْبَةُ قَوْلَهُ وَأَنَا

Umar b. al-Khattab reported: The Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) said: When the Mu'adhdhin says: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, and one of you should make this response: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest; (and when the Mu'adhdhin) says: I testify that there is no god but Allah, one should respond: I testify that there is no god but Allah, and when he says: I testify that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, one should make a response: I testify that Muhammad is Allah's Messenger. When he (the Mu'adhdhin) says: Come to prayer, one should make a response: There is no might and no power except with Allah. When he (the Mu'adhdhin) says: Come to salvation, one should respond: There is no might and no power except with Allah, and when he (the Mu'adhdhin) says: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, then make a response: Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. When he (the Mu'adhdhin) says: There is no god but Allah, and he who makes a re- sponse from the heart: There is no god but Allah, he will enter Paradise.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ يَحْيَی عَنْ عَمِّهِ قَالَ کُنْتُ عِنْدَ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ فَجَائَهُ الْمُؤَذِّنُ يَدْعُوهُ إِلَی الصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ الْمُؤَذِّنُونَ أَطْوَلُ النَّاسِ أَعْنَاقًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

Sa'd b. Abu Waqqas reported: The Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) said: If anyone says on hearing the Mu'adhdhin: I testify that there is no god but Allah alone. Who has no partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger, (and that) I am satisfied with Allah as my Lord, with Muhammad as Messenger. and with Islam as din (code of life), his sins would be forgiven. In the narration transmitted by Ibn Rumh the words are: He who said on hearing the Mu'adhdhin and verity I testify. ' Qutaiba has not mentioned his words: And I.

"الْمُؤَذِّنُونَ أَطْوَلُ الناس أعناقا يوم القيامة" ← رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ← مُعَاوِيَةَ، ← کُنْتُ عِنْدَ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ فَجَائَهُ الْمُؤَذِّنُ يَدْعُوهُ إِلَی الصَّلَاةِ ← عَمِّہٖ ← طَلْحَةَ بْنِ يَحْيَى ← عَبْدَةُ ← مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ،

حَدَّثَنِيهِ إِسْحَقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ يَحْيَی عَنْ عِيسَی بْنِ طَلْحَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ يَقُولُا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِهِ

Yahya narrated it on the authority of his uncle that he had been sitting in the company of Mu'awiya b. Abu Sufyan when the Mu'adhdhin called (Muslims) to prayer. Mu'awiya said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) saying The Mu'adhdhins will have the longest necks on the Day of Resurrection.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَإِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ إِسْحَقُ أَخْبَرَنَا وَقَالَ الْآخَرَانِ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ إِذَا سَمِعَ النِّدَائَ بِالصَّلَاةِ ذَهَبَ حَتَّی يَکُونَ مَکَانَ الرَّوْحَائِ قَالَ سُلَيْمَانُ فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ الرَّوْحَائِ فَقَالَ هِيَ مِنْ الْمَدِينَةِ سِتَّةٌ وَثَلَاثُونَ مِيلًا

Abu Sufyan reported it on the authority of Jabir that he had heard the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) say: When Satan hears the call to prayer, he runs away to a distance like that of Rauha. Sulaimin said: I asked him about Rauha. He replied: It is at a distance of thirty-six miles from Medina.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ وَإِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَاللَّفْظُ لِقُتَيْبَةَ قَالَ إِسْحَقُ أَخْبَرَنَا وَقَالَ الْآخَرَانِ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ إِذَا سَمِعَ النِّدَائَ بِالصَّلَاةِ أَحَالَ لَهُ ضُرَاطٌ حَتَّی لَا يَسْمَعَ صَوْتَهُ فَإِذَا سَکَتَ رَجَعَ فَوَسْوَسَ فَإِذَا سَمِعَ الْإِقَامَةَ ذَهَبَ حَتَّی لَا يَسْمَعَ صَوْتَهُ فَإِذَا سَکَتَ رَجَعَ فَوَسْوَسَ

Abu Mu'awiya narrated it on the authority of A'mash with the same chain of transmitters.

"إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ إِذَا ← أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ← اَبِیْ صَالِحٍ ← الْاَعْمَشِ ← جَرِيرٌ ← الْآخَرَانِ ← إِسْحَقُ ← إِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَاللَّفْظُ لِقُتَيْبَةَ ← زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ← قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ

حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ بَيَانٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَذَّنَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ أَدْبَرَ الشَّيْطَانُ وَلَهُ حُصَاصٌ

Abu Huraira reported the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) as saying: When Satan hears the call to prayer, he turns back and breaks the wind so as not to hear the call being made, but when the call is finished he turns round and distracts (the minds of those who pray), and when he hears the Iqama, he again runs away so as not to hear its voice and when it subsides, he comes back and distracts (the minds of those who stand for prayer).

حَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ قَالَ أَرْسَلَنِي أَبِي إِلَی بَنِي حَارِثَةَ قَالَ وَمَعِي غُلَامٌ لَنَا أَوْ صَاحِبٌ لَنَا فَنَادَاهُ مُنَادٍ مِنْ حَائِطٍ بِاسْمِهِ قَالَ وَأَشْرَفَ الَّذِي مَعِي عَلَی الْحَائِطِ فَلَمْ يَرَ شَيْئًا فَذَکَرْتُ ذَلِکَ لِأَبِي فَقَالَ لَوْ شَعَرْتُ أَنَّکَ تَلْقَ هَذَا لَمْ أُرْسِلْکَ وَلَکِنْ إِذَا سَمِعْتَ صَوْتًا فَنَادِ بِالصَّلَاةِ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ إِذَا نُودِيَ بِالصَّلَاةِ وَلَّی وَلَهُ حُصَاصٌ

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) said: When the Mu'adhdhin calls to prayer, Satan runs back vehemently.

إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ إِذَا نُودِيَ بِالصَّلَاةِ وَلَّی وَلَهُ حُصَاصٌ ← رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُ ← أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ← صَوْتًا فَنَادِ بِالصَّلَاةِ فَإِنِّي ← لَوْ شَعَرْتُ أَنَّکَ تَلْقَ هَذَا لَمْ أُرْسِلْکَ وَلَکِنْ إِذَا ← وَأَشْرَفَ الَّذِي مَعِي عَلَی الْحَائِطِ فَلَمْ يَرَ شَيْئًا فَذَکَرْتُ ذَلِکَ لِأَبِي ← وَمَعِي غُلَامٌ لَنَا أَوْ صَاحِبٌ لَنَا فَنَادَاهُ مُنَادٍ مِنْ حَائِطٍ بِاسْمِهِ ← أَرْسَلَنِي أَبِي إِلَی بَنِي حَارِثَةَ ← سُهَيْلٍ، ← رَوْحٌ، ← يَزِيدُ -يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ- ← أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامٍ

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُغِيرَةُ يَعْنِي الْحِزَامِيَّ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِذَا نُودِيَ لِلصَّلَاةِ أَدْبَرَ الشَّيْطَانُ لَهُ ضُرَاطٌ حَتَّی لَا يَسْمَعَ التَّأْذِينَ فَإِذَا قُضِيَ التَّأْذِينُ أَقْبَلَ حَتَّی إِذَا ثُوِّبَ بِالصَّلَاةِ أَدْبَرَ حَتَّی إِذَا قُضِيَ التَّثْوِيبُ أَقْبَلَ حَتَّی يَخْطُرَ بَيْنَ الْمَرْئِ وَنَفْسِهِ يَقُولُ لَهُ اذْکُرْ کَذَا وَاذْکُرْ کَذَا لِمَا لَمْ يَکُنْ يَذْکُرُ مِنْ قَبْلُ حَتَّی يَظَلَّ الرَّجُلُ مَا يَدْرِي کَمْ صَلَّی

Suhail reported that his father sent him to Banu Haritha along with a boy or a man. Someone called him by his name from an enclosure. He (thenarrator) said: The person with me looked towards the enclosure, but saw nothing. I made a mention of that to my father. He said: If I knew that you would meet such a situation I would have never sent you (there), but (bear in wind) whenever you hear such a call (from the evil spirits) pronounce the Adhan. for I have heard Abu Huraira say that the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upbn him) said: Whenever Adhan is proclaimed, Satan runs back vehemently.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِهِ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ حَتَّی يَظَلَّ الرَّجُلُ إِنْ يَدْرِي کَيْفَ صَلَّی

Abu Huraira reported: The Apostle ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) said When the call to prayer is made, Satan runs back and breaks wind so as not to hear the call being made, and when the call is finished. he turns round. When Iqama is proclaimed he turns his back, and when it is finished he turns round to distract a man, saying: Re- member such and such; remember such and such, referring to something the man did not have in his mind, with the result that he does not know how much he has prayed.
