حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ عَنْ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ جَائَ أَهْلُ الْيَمَنِ هُمْ أَرَقُّ أَفْئِدَةً وَأَضْعَفُ قُلُوبًا الْإِيمَانُ يَمَانٍ وَالْحِکْمَةُ يَمَانِيَةٌ السَّکِينَةُ فِي أَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ وَالْفَخْرُ وَالْخُيَلَائُ فِي الْفَدَّادِينَ أَهْلِ الْوَبَرِ قِبَلَ مَطْلِعِ الشَّمْسِ

The same hadith has been narrated by Zuhri with the same chain of authorities with the addition: The belief is among the Yemenites, the sagacity is that of the Yemenites.

النَّبِيِّ ← سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ← الزُّهْرِيِّ، ← شُعَيْبٌ، ← أَبُو الْيَمَانِ، ← عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَأَبُو کُرَيْبٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَاکُمْ أَهْلُ الْيَمَنِ هُمْ أَلْيَنُ قُلُوبًا وَأَرَقُّ أَفْئِدَةً الْإِيمَانُ يَمَانٍ وَالْحِکْمَةُ يَمَانِيَةٌ رَأْسُ الْکُفْرِ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ

Abu Huraira said: I heard the Prophet (may peace and blessings be upon him) saying: There came the people of Yemen, they are tender of feelings and meek of hearts. The belief is that of the Yemenites, the sagacity is that of the Yemenites, the tranquillity is among the owners of goats and sheep, and pride and conceitedness is among the uncivil owners of the camels, the people of the tents in the direction of sunrise.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يَذْکُرْ رَأْسُ الْکُفْرِ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ

It is reporter on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings be upon him) observed: There came the people of Yemen who are soft of hearts, tender in feelings: the belief is that of the Yemenites, the sagacity is that of the Yemenites and the summit of unbelief is towards the East.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّی حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ح و حَدَّثَنِي بِشْرُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ جَرِيرٍ وَزَادَ وَالْفَخْرُ وَالْخُيَلَائُ فِي أَصْحَابِ الْإِبِلِ وَالسَّکِينَةُ وَالْوَقَارُ فِي أَصْحَابِ الشَّائِ

Qutaiba b. Sa'id and Zubair b. Harb say: Jarir narrated this on the authority of A'mash with the same chain of narrators (as mentioned above).

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غِلَظُ الْقُلُوبِ وَالْجَفَائُ فِي الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْإِيمَانُ فِي أَهْلِ الْحِجَازِ

Shu'ba narrated the hadith as reported by Jarir with the same chain of narrators with this addition: Pride and conceitedness is among the owners of the camels and tranquillity and sobriety is found amongst the owners of sheep.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ وَوَکِيعٌ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ حَتَّی تُؤْمِنُوا وَلَا تُؤْمِنُوا حَتَّی تَحَابُّوا أَوَلَا أَدُلُّکُمْ عَلَی شَيْئٍ إِذَا فَعَلْتُمُوهُ تَحَابَبْتُمْ أَفْشُوا السَّلَامَ بَيْنَکُمْ

It is reported on the authority of Jabir b. Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah (may peace and, blessings be upon him) observed: The callousness of heart and sternness is in the East and faith is among the people of the Hijaz.

حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ أَنْبَأَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَا تَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ حَتَّی تُؤْمِنُوا بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ أَبِي مُعَاوِيَةَ وَوَکِيعٍ

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessing be upon him) observed: You shall not enter Paradise so long as you do not affirm belief (in all those things which are the articles of faith) and you will not believe as long as you do not love one another. Should I not direct you to a thing which, if you do, will foster love amongst you: (i. e.) give currency to (the practice of paying salutation to one another by saying) as-salamu alaikum.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ الْمَکِّيُّ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِسُهَيْلٍ إِنَّ عَمْرًا حَدَّثَنَا عَنْ الْقَعْقَاعِ عَنْ أَبِيکَ قَالَ وَرَجَوْتُ أَنْ يُسْقِطَ عَنِّي رَجُلًا قَالَ فَقَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ الَّذِي سَمِعَهُ مِنْهُ أَبِي کَانَ صَدِيقًا لَهُ بِالشَّامِ ثُمَّ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ عَنْ عَطَائِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ تَمِيمٍ الدَّارِيِّ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الدِّينُ النَّصِيحَةُ قُلْنَا لِمَنْ قَالَ لِلَّهِ وَلِکِتَابِهِ وَلِرَسُولِهِ وَلِأَئِمَّةِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَعَامَّتِهِمْ

Zuhair b. Harb said: Jarir reported on the authority of A'mash with this chain of transmitters that the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) observed: By him in Whose hand is my life, you shall not enter Paradise unless you believe. The rest of the hadith is the same as narrated by Abd Mu'awiya and Waki'.

تَمِيمٍ الدَّارِيِّ، ← عَطَائِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ← سُهَيْلٍ، ← سُفْيَانَ، ← مِنْ الَّذِي سَمِعَهُ مِنْهُ أَبِي کَانَ صَدِيقًا لَهُ بِالشَّامِ ثُمَّ ← فَقَالَ: ← وَرَجَوْتُ أَنْ يُسْقِطَ عَنِّي رَجُلًا ← أَبِيكَ، ← الْقَعْقَاعِ، ← قُلْتُ لِسُهَيْلٍ إِنَّ عَمْرًا ← سُفْيَانَ، ← مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ الْمَكِّيُّ

حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ عَطَائِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ اللَّيْثِيِّ عَنْ تَمِيمٍ الدَّارِيِّ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِهِ

It is narrated on the authority of Tamim ad-Dari that the Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings be upon him) observed: Al-Din is a name of sincerity and well wishing. Upon this we said: For whom? He replied: For Allah, His Book, His Messenger and for the leaders and the general Muslims.

حَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ حَدَّثَنَا سُهَيْلٌ عَنْ عَطَائِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ سَمِعَهُ وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُ أَبَا صَالِحٍ عَنْ تَمِيمٍ الدَّارِيِّ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِهِ

Muhammad b. Hatim and others narrate the same hadith of the Apostle (may peace and blessings be upon him) on the authority of Tamim ad-Dari.

رَسُولِ اللَّهِ بِمِثْلِهِ ← تَمِيمٍ الدَّارِيِّ، ← أَبَا صَالِحٍ، ← عَطَائِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ سَمِعَهُ وَهُوَ ← سُهَيْلٍ، ← رَوْحٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ← يَزِيدُ -يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ- ← أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامٍ

Umayya b. Bistam narrates the same hadith of the Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings be upon him) on the authority of Tamim ad-Dari.

بَايَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ عَلَی إِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ وَإِيتَائِ الزَّکَاةِ وَالنُّصْحِ لِکُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ ← جَرِيرٌ ← قَيْسٍ ← إِسْمَعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ وَأَبُو أُسَامَةَ ← أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ،

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ عِلَاقَةَ سَمِعَ جَرِيرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُا بَايَعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَی النُّصْحِ لِکُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ

It is narrated on the authority of Jarir that he observed I gave pledge of allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (may peace and blessings be upon him) on the observance of prayer, payment of Zakat, and sincerity and well-wishing for every Muslim.

جَرِيرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُا بَايَعْتُ النَّبِيَّ عَلَی النُّصْحِ لِکُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ ← زِيَادِ بْنِ عِلَاقَةَ ← سُفْيَانَ، ← أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ
