و حَدَّثَنِيهِ زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَذْکُرْ فِي الْحَدِيثِ وَلَمْ يَزَلْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُلَبِّي حَتَّی رَمَی الْجَمْرَةَ وَزَادَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ وَالنَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُشِيرُ بِيَدِهِ کَمَا يَخْذِفُ الْإِنْسَانُ

Ibn 'Abbas narrated from al-Fadl b. Abbas (Allah be pleased with them) who sat behind Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) that he (the Holy Prophet) said to the people on the evening of 'Arafa and on the morning to the gathering of people (at Muzdalifa) as they were pushing on to proceed slowly. And he himself drove his she-camel with restraint until he entered Muhassir (it is a place in Mina), and further told them to take up pebbles which were to be thrown at Jamra. And Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) continued pronouncing Talbiya till he stoned the Jamra.

و حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ کَثِيرِ بْنِ مُدْرِکٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَنَحْنُ بِجَمْعٍ سَمِعْتُ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ يَقُولُ فِي هَذَا الْمَقَامِ لَبَّيْکَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْکَ

This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Abd Zubair with the same chain of transmitters but with this variation that in the hadith no mention is made of (this) that Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) continued pronouncing Talbiya till he stoned the Jamra, and he made this addition in his hadith: The Apostle ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) pointed with his hand how a person should catch hold of pebbles (in order to throw them).

و حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ يُونُسَ حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ أَخْبَرَنَا حُصَيْنٌ عَنْ کَثِيرِ بْنِ مُدْرِکٍ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ لَبَّی حِينَ أَفَاضَ مِنْ جَمْعٍ فَقِيلَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ هَذَا فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَنَسِيَ النَّاسُ أَمْ ضَلُّوا سَمِعْتُ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ يَقُولُ فِي هَذَا الْمَکَانِ لَبَّيْکَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْکَ

Abdullah narrated to us as we had gathered (at Muzdalifa): I have heard from one upon whom Surah al-Baqara was revealed (the Holy Prophet) pronouncing Talbiya at this place.

و حَدَّثَنَاه حَسَنٌ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ آدَمَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ

Abd al-Rahman b. Yazid reported that 'Abdullah (b. Mas'ud) pronounced Talbiya as he returned from the gathering of the people (at Muzdalifa). It was said: He might be a Bedouin (not knowing correctly the rituals of Hajj and, therefore, pronouncing Talbia at this stage), whereupon Abdullah said: Hive the people forgotten (this Sunnah of the Holy Prophet) or have they gone astray? I heard him, upon whom Sibrah al-Baqara was revealed, pronouncing Talbiya at the very place.

و حَدَّثَنِيهِ يُوسُفُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ الْمَعْنِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادٌ يَعْنِي الْبَکَّائِيَّ عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ کَثِيرِ بْنِ مُدْرِکٍ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ وَالْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَا سَمِعْنَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ يَقُولُ بِجَمْعٍ سَمِعْتُ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ هَاهُنَا يَقُولُ لَبَّيْکَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْکَ ثُمَّ لَبَّی وَلَبَّيْنَا مَعَهُ

Abd al-Rahman b. Yazid and al-Aswad b. Yazid reported: We heard 'Abdullah b. Mas'ud saying to the gathering of people (at Muzdalifa) that he had heard Talbiya from him, upon whom Surah al-Baqara was revealed, at this very place. And so he ('Abdullah b. Mas'ud) pronounced Talbiya and we also pronounced it with him.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّی قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ح و حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَحْيَی الْأُمَوِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَا جَمِيعًا حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ غَدَوْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ مِنًی إِلَی عَرَفَاتٍ مِنَّا الْمُلَبِّي وَمِنَّا الْمُکَبِّرُ

Abdullah b. 'Umar reported on the authority of his father (Allah be pleased with them). He said: As we proceeded in the morning along with AUbs Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) from Mina to 'Arafat, some of us prounced Talbiya, and some pronounced Takbir (Allah-o-Akbar).

و حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ وَهَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَيَعْقُوبُ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ قَالُوا أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ کُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي غَدَاةِ عَرَفَةَ فَمِنَّا الْمُکَبِّرُ وَمِنَّا الْمُهَلِّلُ فَأَمَّا نَحْنُ فَنُکَبِّرُ قَالَ قُلْتُ وَاللَّهِ لَعَجَبًا مِنْکُمْ کَيْفَ لَمْ تَقُولُوا لَهُ مَاذَا رَأَيْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْنَعُ

Abdullah b. 'Umar reported on the authority of his father (Allah be pleased with them): We were along with Allah's Messenger (way peace he upon him) in the morning of 'Arafa (9th of Dhu'l-Hijja). Some of us pronounced Takbir and some of us Tahlil La ilaha ill-Allah). And to those of us who pronounced Takbir, I said: By Allah, how strange it is that you did not care to ask him: What did you see Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) doing (on this occasion)?

و حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ يَحْيَی قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَی مَالِکٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي بَکْرٍ الثَّقَفِيِّ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِکٍ وَهُمَا غَادِيَانِ مِنْ مِنًی إِلَی عَرَفَةَ کَيْفَ کُنْتُمْ تَصْنَعُونَ فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ کَانَ يُهِلُّ الْمُهِلُّ مِنَّا فَلَا يُنْکَرُ عَلَيْهِ وَيُکَبِّرُ الْمُکَبِّرُ مِنَّا فَلَا يُنْکَرُ عَلَيْهِ

Muhammad b. Abu Bakr al-Thaqafi asked Anas b. Malik (Allah be pleased with him), while on their way from Mina to 'Arafa in the morning: What did you do on this day in the company of Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ )? Thereupon he said: One of us pronounced Tahlil, and he met with no disapproval, and one of us pronounced Takbir, and he also met with no disapproval.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ يَحْيَی قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَی مَالِکٍ عَنْ مُوسَی بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ کُرَيْبٍ مَوْلَی ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ يَقُولُ دَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ عَرَفَةَ حَتَّی إِذَا کَانَ بِالشِّعْبِ نَزَلَ فَبَالَ ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وَلَمْ يُسْبِغْ الْوُضُوئَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ الصَّلَاةَ قَالَ الصَّلَاةُ أَمَامَکَ فَرَکِبَ فَلَمَّا جَائَ الْمُزْدَلِفَةَ نَزَلَ فَتَوَضَّأَ فَأَسْبَغَ الْوُضُوئَ ثُمَّ أُقِيمَتْ الصَّلَاةُ فَصَلَّی الْمَغْرِبَ ثُمَّ أَنَاخَ کُلُّ إِنْسَانٍ بَعِيرَهُ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ ثُمَّ أُقِيمَتْ الْعِشَائُ فَصَلَّاهَا وَلَمْ يُصَلِّ بَيْنَهُمَا شَيْئًا

Muhammad b. Abu Bakr reported: I said to Anas b. Malik in the morning of 'Arafa: What do you say as to pronouncing Talbiya on this day? He said: I travelled with Allah's Apostle (may peace he upon him) and his Companions in this journey. Some of us pronounced Takbir and some of us pronounced Tahlil, and none of us found fault with his companion.

و حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ يَحْيَی بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مُوسَی بْنِ عُقْبَةَ مَوْلَی الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ کُرَيْبٍ مَوْلَی ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ قَالَ انْصَرَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْدَ الدَّفْعَةِ مِنْ عَرَفَاتٍ إِلَی بَعْضِ تِلْکَ الشِّعَابِ لِحَاجَتِهِ فَصَبَبْتُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ الْمَائِ فَقُلْتُ أَتُصَلِّي فَقَالَ الْمُصَلَّی أَمَامَکَ

Kuraib, the freed slave of Ibn Abbas, narrated from Usama b. Zaid (Allah be pleased with him) that he had heard him saying: Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) proceeded from 'Arafa, and as he approached the creek of a hill, he got down (from his camel) and urinated, and then performed a light ablution. I said to him: Prayer, whereupon he said: The prayer awaits you (at Muzdalifa). So he rode again, and as he came to Muzdalifa, he got down and performed ablution well. Then Iqima was pronounced for prayer, and he 'observed the sunset prayer. Then every person made his camel kneel down there, and then Iqama was pronounced for 'Isha' prayer and he observed it, and he (the Holy Prophet) did not observe any prayer (either Sunan or Nawifil) in between them (He observed the Fard of sunset and 'Isha' prayers successively.)

و حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَکِ ح و حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو کُرَيْبٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَکِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ کُرَيْبٍ مَوْلَی ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أُسَامَةَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ يَقُولُا أَفَاضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ عَرَفَاتٍ فَلَمَّا انْتَهَی إِلَی الشِّعْبِ نَزَلَ فَبَالَ وَلَمْ يَقُلْ أُسَامَةُ أَرَاقَ الْمَائَ قَالَ فَدَعَا بِمَائٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ وُضُوئًا لَيْسَ بِالْبَالِغِ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الصَّلَاةَ قَالَ الصَّلَاةُ أَمَامَکَ قَالَ ثُمَّ سَارَ حَتَّی بَلَغَ جَمْعًا فَصَلَّی الْمَغْرِبَ وَالْعِشَائَ

Usama b. Zaid (Allah be pleased with him) reported: Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) on his way back from 'Arafat got down in one of these creeks (to answer the call of nature), and after he had done that I poured water (over his hands) and said: Are you going to pray? Thereupon he said: The place of prayer is ahead of you.
