حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ يَحْيَی وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ جَمِيعًا عَنْ حَمَّادٍ قَالَ يَحْيَی أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي يَزِيدَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُا بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الثَّقَلِ أَوْ قَالَ فِي الضَّعَفَةِ مِنْ جَمْعٍ بِلَيْلٍ

It is narrated from Umm Habiba: We used to set forth from Muzdalifa to Mina, (very early in the dawn) when it was dark. And in the narration of Naqid (the words are): We set from Muzdalifa in the darkness (of the dawn).

فِي الضَّعَفَةِ مِنْ جَمْعٍ بِلَيْلٍ ← ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُا بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ فِي الثَّقَلِ أَوْ ← عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ1 بْنِ أبي يزيد، ← حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ← يَحْيَى ← حَمَّادٌ، ← يَحْيَی بْنُ يَحْيَی وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ جَمِيعًا

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي يَزِيدَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُا أَنَا مِمَّنْ قَدَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي ضَعَفَةِ أَهْلِهِ

Ibn 'Abbas reported: Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) sent me from Muzdalifa ahead (of the caravan) along with the luggage or with the weak ones during (the latter part of the) night.

Ibn 'Abbas (Allah be pleased with them) reported: I was among those (i. e. women and children) whom Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) sent forth with the weak members of his family.

و حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ وَحَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَی قَالَا أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ أَنَّ سَالِمَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ کَانَ يُقَدِّمُ ضَعَفَةَ أَهْلِهِ فَيَقِفُونَ عِنْدَ الْمَشْعَرِ الْحَرَامِ بِالْمُزْدَلِفَةِ بِاللَّيْلِ فَيَذْکُرُونَ اللَّهَ مَا بَدَا لَهُمْ ثُمَّ يَدْفَعُونَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَقِفَ الْإِمَامُ وَقَبْلَ أَنْ يَدْفَعَ فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَقْدَمُ مِنًی لِصَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ يَقْدَمُ بَعْدَ ذَلِکَ فَإِذَا قَدِمُوا رَمَوْا الْجَمْرَةَ وَکَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ أَرْخَصَ فِي أُولَئِکَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

Ata' reported from Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with them): Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) sent me from Muzdalifa along with his luggage (in the very early part of @he dawn). I (Ibn Juraij, one of the narrators) said (to 'Ati'): Has this (news) reached you that Ibn 'Abbas (Allah be pleased with them) had said: He (Allah's Messenger) had sent me in the latter part of the night ? Thereupon he said: No, it was the dawn. I (again) said to him: (Did you hear) Ibn 'Abbas (Allah be pleased with them) having said this (too): We stoned al-Jamra before the dawn prayer ? So where did he observe the dawn prayer? He said: No. But he said only so much (as described above).

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَأَبُو کُرَيْبٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ رَمَی عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ مِنْ بَطْنِ الْوَادِي بِسَبْعِ حَصَيَاتٍ يُکَبِّرُ مَعَ کُلِّ حَصَاةٍ قَالَ فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّ أُنَاسًا يَرْمُونَهَا مِنْ فَوْقِهَا فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ هَذَا وَالَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ غَيْرُهُ مَقَامُ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ

Salim b. 'Abdullah reported that 'Abdullah b. 'Umar (Allah be pleased with them) used to send ahead of him the weak members of his household to stay during the night at Mash'ar al-Haram at Muzdalifa. They remembered Allah so long as they could afford, and then they proceeded before the stay of the Imam, and before his return. So some of them reached Mina for the dawn prayer and some of them reached there after that; and as they reached there, they stoned al-Jamra; and Ibn 'Umar (Allah be pleased with them) used to say: Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) has granted this concession to them.

و حَدَّثَنَا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ التَّمِيمِيُّ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ مُسْهِرٍ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْحَجَّاجَ بْنَ يُوسُفَ يَقُولُ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ عَلَی الْمِنْبَرِ أَلِّفُوا الْقُرْآنَ کَمَا أَلَّفَهُ جِبْرِيلُ السُّورَةُ الَّتِي يُذْکَرُ فِيهَا الْبَقَرَةُ وَالسُّورَةُ الَّتِي يُذْکَرُ فِيهَا النِّسَائُ وَالسُّورَةُ الَّتِي يُذْکَرُ فِيهَا آلُ عِمْرَانَ قَالَ فَلَقِيتُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ بِقَوْلِهِ فَسَبَّهُ وَقَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ أَنَّهُ کَانَ مَعَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ فَأَتَی جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ فَاسْتَبْطَنَ الْوَادِي فَاسْتَعْرَضَهَا فَرَمَاهَا مِنْ بَطْنِ الْوَادِي بِسَبْعِ حَصَيَاتٍ يُکَبِّرُ مَعَ کُلِّ حَصَاةٍ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَرْمُونَهَا مِنْ فَوْقِهَا فَقَالَ هَذَا وَالَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ غَيْرُهُ مَقَامُ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ

Abd al-Rahman b. Yazid reported that 'Abdullah b. Mas'ud (Allah be pleased with them) threw seven pebbles at Jamrat al-'Aqaba from the heart of the valley. He pronounced Takbir with every pebble. It was said to him that people fling stones from the upper side (of the valley), whereupon 'Abdullah b. Mas'ud (Allah he pleased with them) said: By him, besides Whom there is no other god, that is the place (of flinging stones) of one upon whom Surah al-Baqara was revealed (the Holy Prophet).

و حَدَّثَنِي يَعْقُوبُ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ ح و حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ کِلَاهُمَا عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْحَجَّاجَ يَقُولُ لَا تَقُولُوا سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ وَاقْتَصَّا الْحَدِيثَ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ مُسْهِرٍ

A'mash reported: I heard Hajjaj b. Yusuf saying as he was delivering sermon on the pulpit: Observe the order of the (Holy) Qur'an which has been observed by Gabriel. (Thus state the surahs in this manner) one in which mention has been made of al-Baqara, one in which mention has been made of women (Surah al-Nisa') and then the surah in which mention has been made of the Family of 'Imrin. He (the (narrator) said: I met Ibrahim and informed him about these words of his (the statement of Hajjaj b. Yusuf). He cursed him and said: Abd al-Rahman b. Yazid has narrated to me that when he was in the company of 'Abdullah b. Mas'udd (Allah be pleased with them) he came to Jamrat al-'Aqaba and then entered the heart of the valley and faced towards it (the Jamra) and then flung seven pebbles at it from the heart of the valley pronouncing Takbir with every pebble. I said: Abu 'Abd al-Rahman, people fling pebbles at it (Jamra) from the upper side, whereupon he said: By Him besides Whom there is no god, that is the place (of flinging pebbles of one) upon whom Surah al-Baqara was revealed;

و حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ح و حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّی وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ الْحَکَمِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ أَنَّهُ حَجَّ مَعَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ فَرَمَی الْجَمْرَةَ بِسَبْعِ حَصَيَاتٍ وَجَعَلَ الْبَيْتَ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ وَمِنًی عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَقَالَ هَذَا مَقَامُ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ

A'mash reported: I heard Hajjaj saying I Do not say Surah al-Baqara. The rest of the hadith is the same.

يَمِينِهِ وَقَالَ هَذَا مَقَامُ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ ← يَسَارِهِ وَمِنًی ← فَرَمَی الْجَمْرَةَ بِسَبْعِ حَصَيَاتٍ وَجَعَلَ الْبَيْتَ ← عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ أَنَّهُ حَجَّ مَعَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ← إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ← الْحَكَمِ ← شُعْبَةُ، ← مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ← مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّی وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ ← و، ← شُعْبَةُ، ← غُنْدَرٌ، ← أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ← و،

و حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ فَلَمَّا أَتَی جَمْرَةَ الْعَقَبَةِ

Abd al-Rahman b. Yazid reported that he performed Hajj along with 'Abdullah (Allah be pleased with him) and he flung seven pebbles at al-Jamra (from a position) that the House was on his left and Mina was on his right and said: That is the place (of flinging pebbles of one) upon whom Surah al-Baqara was revealed.

و حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُحَيَّاةِ ح و حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ يَحْيَی وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ يَعْلَی أَبُو الْمُحَيَّاةِ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ کُهَيْلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ قِيلَ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ نَاسًا يَرْمُونَ الْجَمْرَةَ مِنْ فَوْقِ الْعَقَبَةِ قَالَ فَرَمَاهَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ مِنْ بَطْنِ الْوَادِي ثُمَّ قَالَ مِنْ هَا هُنَا وَالَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ غَيْرُهُ رَمَاهَا الَّذِي أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ سُورَةُ الْبَقَرَةِ

This hadith nas been narrated on the authority of Shu'ba with the same chain of transmitters except with this variation of (words): As he came to Jamrat al-'Aqaba.

فَرَمَاهَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ مِنْ بَطْنِ الْوَادِي ثُمَّ ← قِيلَ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ نَاسًا يَرْمُونَ الْجَمْرَةَ مِنْ فَوْقِ الْعَقَبَةِ ← عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ يَزِيدَ ← سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ، ← يَحْيَى بْنُ يَعْلَى أَبُو الْمُحَيَّاةِ ← يَحْيَی بْنُ يَحْيَی وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ← و، ← أبو المحياة ← أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ← و،

Abd al-Rahman b. Yazid reported: It was said to 'Abdullah (Allah be pleased with bird) that people threw pebbles at the Jamra from the upper side of 'Aqaba, whereas he threw stones at it from the heart of the valley, whereupon he said: By Him besides Whom there is no god, it is at this very place that one upon whom was revealed Surah al-Baqara threw stones at it.

جَابِرًا يَقُولُا رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ يَرْمِي عَلَی رَاحِلَتِهِ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ ← أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُ ← ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، ← عِيسَى؛ ← ابْنُ خَشْرَمٍ ← عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ← إِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ خَشْرَمٍ جَمِيعًا
