حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو کُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَائِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَسْمَائَ بِنْتِ أَبِي بَکْرٍ قَالَتْ قَدِمَتْ عَلَيَّ أُمِّي وَهِيَ مُشْرِکَةٌ فِي عَهْدِ قُرَيْشٍ إِذْ عَاهَدَهُمْ فَاسْتَفْتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَدِمَتْ عَلَيَّ أُمِّي وَهِيَ رَاغِبَةٌ أَفَأَصِلُ أُمِّي قَالَ نَعَمْ صِلِي أُمَّکِ

Asma' daughter of Abu Bakr reported: I said: Messenger of Allah, my mother, who is inclined or scared has come to me. Should I (even An her position of being opposed to Islam) treat her well? He said: Yes.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَی النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ أُمِّيَ افْتُلِتَتْ نَفْسَهَا وَلَمْ تُوصِ وَأَظُنُّهَا لَوْ تَکَلَّمَتْ تَصَدَّقَتْ أَفَلَهَا أَجْرٌ إِنْ تَصَدَّقْتُ عَنْهَا قَالَ نَعَمْ

Asma' bint Abu Bakr reported: My mother who was a polytheist came to me when he (the Holy Prophet) entered into treaty with, the Quraish (of Mecca). I inquired from the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) saying: Messenger of Allah, there has come to me my mother and she is inclined; should I (in this state of her mind) show her kindness? He said: Yes, treat her kindly.

عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَتَی النَّبِيَّ فَقَالَ ← أَبِيهِ ← هِشَامٍ ← مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ ← مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ،

حَدَّثَنِيهِ زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ح و حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو کُرَيْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ح و حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَکَمُ بْنُ مُوسَی حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ إِسْحَقَ کُلُّهُمْ عَنْ هِشَامٍ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ وَفِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ وَلَمْ تُوصِ کَمَا قَالَ ابْنُ بِشْرٍ وَلَمْ يَقُلْ ذَلِکَ الْبَاقُونَ

A'isha said that a person came to the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) and said: My mother died suddenly without having made any will. I think she would have definitely given Sadaqa if she had been able to speak. Would she have a reward if I gave Sadaqa on her behalf? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Yes.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ح و حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ کِلَاهُمَا عَنْ أَبِي مَالِکٍ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ فِي حَدِيثِ قُتَيْبَةَ قَالَ قَالَ نَبِيُّکُمْ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ کُلُّ مَعْرُوفٍ صَدَقَةٌ

This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Hisham with the same chain of transmitters. And in the hadith transmitted by Abu Usama the words are: She did not make any will, as it has been reported by Ibn Bishr, but it was not reported by the rest of the narrators.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَسْمَائَ الضُّبَعِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا مَهْدِيُّ بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ حَدَّثَنَا وَاصِلٌ مَوْلَی أَبِي عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ يَحْيَی بْنِ عُقَيْلٍ عَنْ يَحْيَی بْنِ يَعْمَرَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ الدِّيلِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ أَنَّ نَاسًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالُوا لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ذَهَبَ أَهْلُ الدُّثُورِ بِالْأُجُورِ يُصَلُّونَ کَمَا نُصَلِّي وَيَصُومُونَ کَمَا نَصُومُ وَيَتَصَدَّقُونَ بِفُضُولِ أَمْوَالِهِمْ قَالَ أَوَ لَيْسَ قَدْ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لَکُمْ مَا تَصَّدَّقُونَ إِنَّ بِکُلِّ تَسْبِيحَةٍ صَدَقَةً وَکُلِّ تَکْبِيرَةٍ صَدَقَةً وَکُلِّ تَحْمِيدَةٍ صَدَقَةً وَکُلِّ تَهْلِيلَةٍ صَدَقَةً وَأَمْرٌ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ صَدَقَةٌ وَنَهْيٌ عَنْ مُنْکَرٍ صَدَقَةٌ وَفِي بُضْعِ أَحَدِکُمْ صَدَقَةٌ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيَأتِي أَحَدُنَا شَهْوَتَهُ وَيَکُونُ لَهُ فِيهَا أَجْرٌ قَالَ أَرَأَيْتُمْ لَوْ وَضَعَهَا فِي حَرَامٍ أَکَانَ عَلَيْهِ فِيهَا وِزْرٌ فَکَذَلِکَ إِذَا وَضَعَهَا فِي الْحَلَالِ کَانَ لَهُ أَجْرًا

Hudhaifa and Abu Shaiba reported Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) as saying: Every act of goodness is sadaqa.

لِلنَّبِيِّ ← أَبِي ذَرٍّ أَنَّ نَاسًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ ← أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ الدِّيلِيِّ، ← یَّحْیَی بْنِ یَعْمُرَ ← یَّحْیَی بْنِ عَقِیلٍ ← وَاصِلٌ مَوْلٰی اَبِیْ عُیَیْنَۃَ ← مَهْدِيُّ بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَسْمَائَ الضُّبَعِيُّ

حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو تَوْبَةَ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَّامٍ عَنْ زَيْدٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا سَلَّامٍ يَقُولُ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ فَرُّوخَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَائِشَةَ تَقُولُ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّهُ خُلِقَ کُلُّ إِنْسَانٍ مِنْ بَنِي آدَمَ عَلَی سِتِّينَ وَثَلَاثِ مِائَةِ مَفْصِلٍ فَمَنْ کَبَّرَ اللَّهَ وَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَهَلَّلَ اللَّهَ وَسَبَّحَ اللَّهَ وَاسْتَغْفَرَ اللَّهَ وَعَزَلَ حَجَرًا عَنْ طَرِيقِ النَّاسِ أَوْ شَوْکَةً أَوْ عَظْمًا عَنْ طَرِيقِ النَّاسِ وَأَمَرَ بِمَعْرُوفٍ أَوْ نَهَی عَنْ مُنْکَرٍ عَدَدَ تِلْکَ السِّتِّينَ وَالثَّلَاثِ مِائَةِ السُّلَامَی فَإِنَّهُ يَمْشِي يَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَدْ زَحْزَحَ نَفْسَهُ عَنْ النَّارِ قَالَ أَبُو تَوْبَةَ وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ يُمْسِي

Abu Dharr reported: some of the people from among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) said to him: Messenger of Allah, the rich have taken away (all the) reward. They observe prayer as we do; they keep the fasts as we keep, and they give Sadaqa out of their surplus riches. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet) said: Has Allah not prescribed for you (a course) by following which you can (also) do sadaqa? In every declaration of the glorification of Allah (i. e. saying Subhan Allah) there is a Sadaqa, and every Takbir (i. e. saying Allah-O-Akbar) is a sadaqa, and every praise of His (saying al-Hamdu Lillah) is a Sadaqa and every declaration that He is One (La illha ill-Allah) is a sadaqa, and enjoining of good is a sadaqa, and forbidding of that which is evil is a Sadaqa, and in man's sexual Intercourse (with his wife, ) there is a Sadaqa. They (the Companions) said: Messenger of Allah, is there reward for him who satisfies his sexual passion among us? He said: Tell me, if he were to devote it to something forbidden, would it not be a sin on his part? Similarly, if he were to devote it to something lawful, he should have a reward.

عَائِشَةَ تَقُولُ: ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ فَرُّوخٍ أَنَّهُ ← أَبَا سَلَّامٍ، ← زَيْدٍ أَنَّهُ ← مُعَاوِيَةُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَلَّامٍ ← أَبُو تَوْبَةَ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ، ← حَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الدَّارِمِيُّ أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ حَسَّانَ حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ أَخْبَرَنِي أَخِي زَيْدٌ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَهُ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ أَوْ أَمَرَ بِمَعْرُوفٍ وَقَالَ فَإِنَّهُ يُمْسِي يَوْمَئِذٍ

A'isha reported Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) as saying: Every one of the children of Adam has been created with three hundred and sixty joints; so he who declares the Glory of Allah, praises Allah, declares Allah to be One, Glorifies Allah, and seeks forgiveness from Allah, and removes stone, or thorn, or bone from people's path, and enjoins what is good and forbids from evil, to the number of those three hundred and sixty joints, will walk that day having saved himself from the Fire. Abu Taubah said: Perhaps he said: 'Will reach the evening.'

أَوْ أَمَرَ بِمَعْرُوفٍ وَقَالَ فَإِنَّهُ يُمْسِي يَوْمَئِذٍ ← أَخِي زَيْدٌ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَهُ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ ← مُعَاوِيَةَ، ← يَحْيَی بْنُ حَسَّانَ ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الدَّارِمِيُّ،

حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ کَثِيرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُبَارَکِ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ سَلَّامٍ عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ فَرُّوخَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَائِشَةَ تَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خُلِقَ کُلُّ إِنْسَانٍ بِنَحْوِ حَدِيثِ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ زَيْدٍ وَقَالَ فَإِنَّهُ يَمْشِي يَوْمَئِذٍ

This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Zaid with the same chain of transmitters except with (a slight) change of words (i.e. he [the Holy Prophet]) said: Or he enjoined what is good, ... and said: He enters the evening [i.e. he walks till evening].

عَائِشَةَ تَقُولُ: ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ فَرُّوخٍ أَنَّهُ ← جَدِّهِ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ، ← زَیْدِ بْنِ سَلَّامٍ ← يَحْيَى ← عَلِيٌّ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُبَارَکِ ← يَحْيَی بْنُ کَثِيرٍ ← أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ عَلَی کُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ صَدَقَةٌ قِيلَ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ قَالَ يَعْتَمِلُ بِيَدَيْهِ فَيَنْفَعُ نَفْسَهُ وَيَتَصَدَّقُ قَالَ قِيلَ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ قَالَ يُعِينُ ذَا الْحَاجَةِ الْمَلْهُوفَ قَالَ قِيلَ لَهُ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ قَالَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ أَوْ الْخَيْرِ قَالَ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ قَالَ يُمْسِکُ عَنْ الشَّرِّ فَإِنَّهَا صَدَقَةٌ

This hadith has been narrated by 'A'isha through anothr chain of transmitters in which she reported Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) as saying: Every man is created ; the rest of the hadith is the same and he said: He walks on that day.

الشَّرِّ فَإِنَّهَا صَدَقَةٌ ← يُمْسِكْ ← أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ ← يَأْمُرُ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ أَوْ الْخَيْرِ ← قِيلَ لَهُ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ ← يُعِينُ ذَا الْحَاجَةِ الْمَلْهُوفَ ← قِيلَ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ ← يَعْتَمِلُ بِيَدَيْهِ فَيَنْفَعُ نَفْسَهُ وَيَتَصَدَّقُ ← عَلَی کُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ صَدَقَةٌ قِيلَ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ ← النَّبِيِّ ← جَدِّهِ، ← أَبِيهِ ← سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ ← شُعْبَةُ، ← أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ← أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ،

حَدَّثَنَاه مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّی حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ

Sa'id b. Abu Burda reported on the authority of his grandfather that the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) said: Giving of Sadaqa is essential for every Muslim. It was said (to him): What do you say of him who does not find (the means) to do so? He said: Let him work with both his hands, thus doing benefit to himself and give Sadaqa. It was said to him: What about him who does not have (the means) to do so? He said: Then let him assist the needy, the aggrieved. It was said: What do you say of one who cannot even do this? He said: Then he should enjoin what is reputable or what is good. He said: What about him if he cannot do that? He (the Holy Prophet) said: He should then abstain from evil, for verify that is Sadaqa on his behalf.

شُعْبَةُ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ ← عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ← مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى،

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ بْنُ هَمَّامٍ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ قَالَ هَذَا مَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَکَرَ أَحَادِيثَ مِنْهَا وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ کُلُّ سُلَامَی مِنْ النَّاسِ عَلَيْهِ صَدَقَةٌ کُلَّ يَوْمٍ تَطْلُعُ فِيهِ الشَّمْسُ قَالَ تَعْدِلُ بَيْنَ الِاثْنَيْنِ صَدَقَةٌ وَتُعِينُ الرَّجُلَ فِي دَابَّتِهِ فَتَحْمِلُهُ عَلَيْهَا أَوْ تَرْفَعُ لَهُ عَلَيْهَا مَتَاعَهُ صَدَقَةٌ قَالَ وَالْکَلِمَةُ الطَّيِّبَةُ صَدَقَةٌ وَکُلُّ خُطْوَةٍ تَمْشِيهَا إِلَی الصَّلَاةِ صَدَقَةٌ وَتُمِيطُ الْأَذَی عَنْ الطَّرِيقِ صَدَقَةٌ

This hadith has been narrated by Shu'ba with the same chain of transmitters.

حَدَّثَنِي الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ زَکَرِيَّا حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ حَدَّثَنِي سُلَيْمَانُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ بِلَالٍ حَدَّثَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ أَبِي مُزَرِّدٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا مِنْ يَوْمٍ يُصْبِحُ الْعِبَادُ فِيهِ إِلَّا مَلَکَانِ يَنْزِلَانِ فَيَقُولُ أَحَدُهُمَا اللَّهُمَّ أَعْطِ مُنْفِقًا خَلَفًا وَيَقُولُ الْآخَرُ اللَّهُمَّ أَعْطِ مُمْسِکًا تَلَفًا

Hammam b. Munabbih reported that-this is out of (those ahadith) which Abu Huraira narrated to us from Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ). And he while making a mention of ahadith reported from Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) said this: Sadaqa is due on every joint of a person, every day the sun rises. Administering of justice between two men is also a Sadaqa. And assisting a man to ride upon his beast, or helping him load his luggage upon it, is a Sadaqa; and a good word is a Sadaqa; and every step that you take towards prayer is a Sadaqa, and removing of harmful things from the pathway is a Sadaqa.
