حَدَّثَنِي حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الشَّاعِرِ حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ إِسْمَعِيلَ الْخَزَّازُ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْمُبَارَکِ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّی رَکْعَتَيْنِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَقُصِرَتْ الصَّلَاةُ أَمْ نَسِيتَ وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) led us in the 'Asr prayer and gave salutation after two rak'ahs. Dhu'l-Yadain (the possessor of long arms) stood up and said: Messenger of Allah, has the prayer been shortened or have you forgotten? The Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) said: Nothing like this has happened (neither the prayer has been shortened nor have I forgotten). He (Dhu'l-Yadain) said: Messenger of Allah, something has definitely happened. The Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) turned towards people and said: Is Dhu'l-Yadain true (in his assertion)? They said: Messenger of Allah, he is true. Then the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) completed the rest of the prayer. and then performed two prostrations while he was sitting after salutation.

حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَی عَنْ شَيْبَانَ عَنْ يَحْيَی عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ بَيْنَا أَنَا أُصَلِّي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةَ الظُّهْرِ سَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ الرَّکْعَتَيْنِ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ وَاقْتَصَّ الْحَدِيثَ

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) said two rak'ahs of the noon prayer and then gave salutation when a man from Band Sulaim came to him and said: Messenger of Allah. has the prayer been shortened, or have you forgotten? -and the rest of the hadith is the same.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ جَمِيعًا عَنْ ابْنِ عُلَيَّةَ قَالَ زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّی الْعَصْرَ فَسَلَّمَ فِي ثَلَاثِ رَکَعَاتٍ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ مَنْزِلَهُ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ الْخِرْبَاقُ وَکَانَ فِي يَدَيْهِ طُولٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَذَکَرَ لَهُ صَنِيعَهُ وَخَرَجَ غَضْبَانَ يَجُرُّ رِدَائَهُ حَتَّی انْتَهَی إِلَی النَّاسِ فَقَالَ أَصَدَقَ هَذَا قَالُوا نَعَمْ فَصَلَّی رَکْعَةً ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ

Abu Huraira reported: I offered with the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) the noon prayer and the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) gave salutation after two rak'ahs. A person from Bani Sulaim stood up, and the rest of the hadith was narrated as mentioned above.

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ وَهُوَ الْحَذَّائُ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ قَالَ سَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي ثَلَاثِ رَکَعَاتٍ مِنْ الْعَصْرِ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَدَخَلَ الْحُجْرَةَ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ بَسِيطُ الْيَدَيْنِ فَقَالَ أَقُصِرَتْ الصَّلَاةُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَخَرَجَ مُغْضَبًا فَصَلَّی الرَّکْعَةَ الَّتِي کَانَ تَرَکَ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْ السَّهْوِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ

Imran b. Husain reported: The Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) said the afternoon prayer and gave the salutation. at the end of three rak'ahs and then went into his house. A man called al-Khirbaq, who bad long aims, got up and went to him, and addressed him as Messenger of Allah and mentioned to him what he had done. He came out angrily trailing his mantle, and when he came to the people he said: Is this man telling the truth? They said: Yes. He then said one rak'ah and then gave salutation and then performed two prostrations and then gave salutation.

حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ وَعُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّی کُلُّهُمْ عَنْ يَحْيَی الْقَطَّانِ قَالَ زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ کَانَ يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ فَيَقْرَأُ سُورَةً فِيهَا سَجْدَةٌ فَيَسْجُدُ وَنَسْجُدُ مَعَهُ حَتَّی مَا يَجِدُ بَعْضُنَا مَوْضِعًا لِمَکَانِ جَبْهَتِهِ

Imran b. Husain reported: The Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) said three rak'ahs of the 'Asr prayer and then got up and went to his apartment. A man possessing large arms stood up and said: Messenger of Allah, bias the player been shortened? He came out angrily, and said the rak'ah which he had omitted and then gave salutation. then performed two prostrations of forgetfulness and then gave salutation.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ رُبَّمَا قَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ فَيَمُرُّ بِالسَّجْدَةِ فَيَسْجُدُ بِنَا حَتَّی ازْدَحَمْنَا عِنْدَهُ حَتَّی مَا يَجِدُ أَحَدُنَا مَکَانًا لِيَسْجُدَ فِيهِ فِي غَيْرِ صَلَاةٍ

Ibn 'Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) while reciting the Qur'an recited its surah containing sajda, and he performed prostration and we also prostrated along with him (but we were so overcrowded) that some of us could not find a place for our forehead (when prostrating ourselves).

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّی وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَقَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْأَسْوَدَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَرَأَ وَالنَّجْمِ فَسَجَدَ فِيهَا وَسَجَدَ مَنْ کَانَ مَعَهُ غَيْرَ أَنَّ شَيْخًا أَخَذَ کَفًّا مِنْ حَصًی أَوْ تُرَابٍ فَرَفَعَهُ إِلَی جَبْهَتِهِ وَقَالَ يَکْفِينِي هَذَا قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ بَعْدُ قُتِلَ کَافِرًا

Ibn 'Umar reported: Sometimes the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) recited the Qur'an, and would pass by (recite) the verse of sajda and performed prostration and he did this along with us, but we were so crowded in his company that none of us could find a place for performing prostration. (and it was done on occasions) other than prayer.

عَبْدُ اللَّهِ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ بَعْدُ قُتِلَ کَافِرًا ← يَکْفِينِي هَذَا ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ← الْأَسْوَدِ، ← أَبِي إِسْحَقَ ← شُعْبَةُ، ← مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ← مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّی وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ يَحْيَی وَيَحْيَی بْنُ أَيُّوبَ وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَابْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ يَحْيَی بْنُ يَحْيَی أَخْبَرَنَا وَقَالَ الْآخَرُونَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَعِيلُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُصَيْفَةَ عَنْ ابْنِ قُسَيْطٍ عَنْ عَطَائِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ الْقِرَائَةِ مَعَ الْإِمَامِ فَقَالَ لَا قِرَائَةَ مَعَ الْإِمَامِ فِي شَيْئٍ وَزَعَمَ أَنَّهُ قَرَأَ عَلَی رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالنَّجْمِ إِذَا هَوَی فَلَمْ يَسْجُدْ

Abdullah (b. 'Umar) reported: The Apostle of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) recited (Surat) al Najm and performed prostration during its recital and all those who were along with him also prostrated themselves except one old man who took a handful of pebbles or dust in his palm and lifted it to his forehead and said: This is sufficient for me. 'Abdullah said: I saw that he was later killed in a state of unbelief.

الْقِرَائَةِ مَعَ الْإِمَامِ ← أنه سأل زيد بن ثابت ← عَطَائُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ أَنَّهُ ← ابْنِ قُسَيْطٍ، ← يَزِيدُ بْنُ خُصَيْفَةَ1 ← إِسْمَعِيلُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ← الْآخَرُونَ ← يَحْيَی بْنُ يَحْيَی ← يَحْيَی بْنُ يَحْيَی وَيَحْيَی بْنُ أَيُّوبَ وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَابْنُ حُجْرٍ

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ يَحْيَی قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَی مَالِکٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ مَوْلَی الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَرَأَ لَهُمْ إِذَا السَّمَائُ انْشَقَّتْ فَسَجَدَ فِيهَا فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ أَخْبَرَهُمْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَجَدَ فِيهَا

ta' b. Yasar reported that he had asked Zaid b. Thabit about recital along with the Imam, to which he said: There should be no recital along with the Imam in anything, and alleged that he recited: By the star when it sets (Surah Najm) before the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) and he did not prostrate himself.

حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَی أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَی عَنْ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ قَالَ ح و حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّی حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ هِشَامٍ کِلَاهُمَا عَنْ يَحْيَی بْنِ أَبِي کَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِهِ

Abu Salama b. 'Abual-Rahman reported: Abu Huraira recited before them: hen the heaven burst asunder (al-Qur'an, lxxxiv. 1) and performed prostration. After completing (the prayer) he informed them that the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) has prostrated himself at it (this verse).

A hadith like this has been narrated by AbuSalama on the authority of Abu Huraira.

Abu Huraira reported: We performed prostration along with the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) (as he recited these verses: ) When the heaven burst asunder and Read in the name of Thy Lord (al-Qur'an, xcvi. 1).

سَجَدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ فِي إِذَا السَّمَائُ انْشَقَّتْ وَاقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّکَ ← أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّهُ ← عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ مَوْلَی بَنِي مَخْزُومٍ ← صَفْوَانُ بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ، ← يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ← اللَّيْثُ ← مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ
