أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ بِلَالًا يُؤَذِّنُ بِلَيْلٍ فَکُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا حَتَّی تَسْمَعُوا تَأْذِينَ ابْنِ أُمِّ مَکْتُومٍ

It was narrated from Salim, from his father, that the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: “Bilal calls the Adhan during the night, so eat and drink until you hear Ibn Umm Maktoom calling the Adhan.” (Sahih).

أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصٌ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَذَّنَ بِلَالٌ فَکُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا حَتَّی يُؤَذِّنَ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَکْتُومٍ قَالَتْ وَلَمْ يَکُنْ بَيْنَهُمَا إِلَّا أَنْ يَنْزِلَ هَذَا وَيَصْعَدَ هَذَا

It was narrated that ‘Aishah said: “The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: ‘Bilal calls the Adhan during the night, so eat and drink until Ibn Umm Maktum calls the Adhan.” She said: “And there was no more between them than the time it takes for one to come down and the other to go up.” (Sahih).

أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ هُشَيْمٍ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا مَنْصُورٌ عَنْ خُبَيْبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ عَمَّتِهِ أُنَيْسَةَ قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَذَّنَ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَکْتُومٍ فَکُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا وَإِذَا أَذَّنَ بِلَالٌ فَلَا تَأْکُلُوا وَلَا تَشْرَبُوا

It was narrated from Khubaib bin ‘Abdur-Rahman that his paternal aunt Unaisah said: “The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: ‘When Ibn Umm Maktum calls the Adhan, eat and drink, and when Bilal calls the Adhan, do not eat nor drink.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنْ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ بِلَالًا يُؤَذِّنُ بِلَيْلٍ لِيُوقِظَ نَائِمَکُمْ وَلِيَرْجِعَ قَائِمَکُمْ وَلَيْسَ أَنْ يَقُولَ هَکَذَا يَعْنِي فِي الصُّبْحِ

It was narrated from Ibn Mas’ud that the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: “Bilal calls the Adhan during the night to wake those who are sleeping and so that those who are praying Qiyam can return. Not to say it is like this.” The break of dawn is not like this. (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ سَائِلًا سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ وَقْتِ الصُّبْحِ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِلَالًا فَأَذَّنَ حِينَ طَلَعَ الْفَجْرُ فَلَمَّا کَانَ مِنْ الْغَدِ أَخَّرَ الْفَجْرَ حَتَّی أَسْفَرَ ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُ فَأَقَامَ فَصَلَّی ثُمَّ قَالَ هَذَا وَقْتُ الصَّلَاةِ

It was narrated from Anas that someone asked the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم about the time of Subh. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم gg commanded Bilal to call the Adhan when dawn broke, then the next day he delayed Fajr until it was very light, then he told him to call the Adhan and he prayed. Then he said: “This is the time for the prayer.”

أَخْبَرَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وَکِيعٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَخَرَجَ بِلَالٌ فَأَذَّنَ فَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ فِي أَذَانِهِ هَکَذَا يَنْحَرِفُ يَمِينًا وَشِمَالًا

It was narrated from ‘Awn bin Abi Juhaifah that his father said: “I came to the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم and Bilal came out and called the Adhan, and he started doing like this in his Adhan, turning to his right and left.”

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ مَالِکٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي صَعْصَعَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ الْمَازِنِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ قَالَ لَهُ إِنِّي أَرَاکَ تُحِبُّ الْغَنَمَ وَالْبَادِيَةَ فَإِذَا کُنْتَ فِي غَنَمِکَ أَوْ بَادِيَتِکَ فَأَذَّنْتَ بِالصَّلَاةِ فَارْفَعْ صَوْتَکَ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَسْمَعُ مَدَی صَوْتِ الْمُؤَذِّنِ جِنٌّ وَلَا إِنْسٌ وَلَا شَيْئٌ إِلَّا شَهِدَ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

‘Abdur-Rahmán bin ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Sa’ Al-Ansari Al-Mazini narrated that his father told him that Abu Saeed Al-Khudri said to him: “I see that you love sheep and the desert. When you are with your sheep or in the desert and you call the Adhan for prayer, then raise your voice, for no human, Jinn or anything else hears the voice of the Muadhdhin as far as it reaches, but it will bear witness for him on the Day of Resurrection.” Abu Saeed said: “I heard it from the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم .“ (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَی قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ مُوسَی بْنِ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِي يَحْيَی عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ سَمِعَهُ مِنْ فَمِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ الْمُؤَذِّنُ يُغْفَرُ لَهُ بِمَدِّ صَوْتِهِ وَيَشْهَدُ لَهُ کُلُّ رَطْبٍ وَيَابِسٍ

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah, who heard it from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم : “The Mu ‘adhdhin will be forgiven as far as his voice reaches, and evely wet and thy thing will bear witness for him.” (Sahih)

الْمُؤَذِّنُ يُغْفَرُ لَهُ بِمَدِّ صَوْتِهِ وَيَشْهَدُ لَهُ کُلُّ رَطْبٍ وَيَابِسٍ ← أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ سَمِعَهُ مِنْ فَمِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ← أَبِي يَحْيَى، ← مُوسَى بْنِ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ ← شُعْبَةُ، ← يَزِيدُ -يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ- ← إِسْمَعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَی

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّی قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَقَ الْکُوفِيِّ عَنْ الْبَرَائِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِکَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَی الصَّفِّ الْمُقَدَّمِ وَالْمُؤَذِّنُ يُغْفَرُ لَهُ بِمَدِّ صَوْتِهِ وَيُصَدِّقُهُ مَنْ سَمِعَهُ مِنْ رَطْبٍ وَيَابِسٍ وَلَهُ مِثْلُ أَجْرِ مَنْ صَلَّی مَعَهُ

It was narrated from Al-Barabin ‘Azib that the Prophet of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: “Allah and His angels say saláh upon the front rows, and the Mu‘adhdhin will be forgiven as far as his voice reaches, and whatever hears him, wet or dry, will confirm what he says, and he will have a reward like that of those who pray with him.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ قَالَ کُنْتُ أُؤَذِّنُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَکُنْتُ أَقُولُ فِي أَذَانِ الْفَجْرِ الْأَوَّلِ حَيَّ عَلَی الْفَلَاحِ الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنْ النَّوْمِ الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنْ النَّوْمِ اللَّهُ أَکْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَکْبَرُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ

It was narrated that Abu Mahdhurah said: “I used to call the Adhan for the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم and in the first Adhan of Fajr I used to say: ‘(Come to prosperity, prayer is better than sleep, prayer is better than sleep, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, there is none worthy of worship except Allah).” (Sahih).

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ نَحْوَهُ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ وَلَيْسَ بِأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ الْفَرَّائِ

Sufyan narrated a similar report with the same chain. (One of the narrators) (Abu) ‘Abdur Rahman (An-Nasa’i) said: “It is not Abu Ja’far Al-Farra’.” (Hasan)

It was narrated from Al-Aswad that Bilal said: “The final words of the Adhan are: ‘Allahu Akbar, AllahuAkbar; La ilaha illallah (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, there is none worthy of worship except Allah).” (Hasan)
