أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ يَحْيَی عَنْ أَبِي بَکْرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ تَمِيمٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ يَسْتَسْقِي فَصَلَّی رَکْعَتَيْنِ وَاسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ

It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin Zaid that the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم went out to pray for rain, and he prayed two Rak’ahs facing the Qiblah. (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وَکِيعٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ إِسْحَقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ کِنَانَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ أَرْسَلَنِي أَمِيرٌ مِنْ الْأُمَرَائِ إِلَی ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ الِاسْتِسْقَائِ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ مَا مَنَعَهُ أَنْ يَسْأَلَنِي خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُتَوَاضِعًا مُتَبَذِّلًا مُتَخَشِّعًا مُتَضَرِّعًا فَصَلَّی رَکْعَتَيْنِ کَمَا يُصَلِّي فِي الْعِيدَيْنِ وَلَمْ يَخْطُبْ خُطْبَتَکُمْ هَذِهِ

It was narrated from Hisham bin Ishaq bin ‘Abdullah bin Kinanah that his father said: “One of the governors sent me to Ibn ‘Abbas to ask him about the prayer for rain. He said: ‘What kept him from asking me? The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم went out humbly, (dressed) in a state of humility, submissiveness and beseeching, and he prayed two Rak’ahs as in the ‘Eid prayer, but he did not deliver a Khutbah like this Khutbah of yours.” (Hasan)

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ آدَمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ تَمِيمٍ عَنْ عَمِّهِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ فَاسْتَسْقَی فَصَلَّی رَکْعَتَيْنِ جَهَرَ فِيهِمَا بِالْقِرَائَةِ

It was narrated from ‘Abbad bin Tamim from his paternal uncle that the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم went out and prayed for rain, then he prayed two Rak’ahs in which he recited loudly. (Sahih)

It was narrated from ‘Aishah that when it rained the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم would say:(Allah, make it beneficial rain).” (Sahih)

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: “The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: ‘Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, said: I have never sent down My favor to My slaves but a group of them became disbelievers who say: ‘The Stars and by stars.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ کَيْسَانَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ قَالَ مُطِرَ النَّاسُ عَلَی عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ أَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا مَاذَا قَالَ رَبُّکُمْ اللَّيْلَةَ قَالَ مَا أَنْعَمْتُ عَلَی عِبَادِي مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ إِلَّا أَصْبَحَ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ بِهَا کَافِرِينَ يَقُولُونَ مُطِرْنَا بِنَوْئِ کَذَا وَکَذَا فَأَمَّا مَنْ آمَنَ بِي وَحَمِدَنِي عَلَی سُقْيَايَ فَذَاکَ الَّذِي آمَنَ بِي وَکَفَرَ بِالْکَوْکَبِ وَمَنْ قَالَ مُطِرْنَا بِنَوْئِ کَذَا وَکَذَا فَذَاکَ الَّذِي کَفَرَ بِي وَآمَنَ بِالْکَوْکَبِ

It was narrated that Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani said: “It rained during the time of the Prophet and he said: ‘Have you not heard what your Lord said this night? He said: I have never sent down any blessing upon My slaves but some of them become disbelievers thereby, saying: ‘We have been given rain by such and such a star.’ As for the one who believes in Me and praises Me for giving rain, that is the one who believes in Me and disbelieves in the stars. But the one who says: ‘We have been given rain by such and such a star’ he has disbelieved in Me and believed in the stars.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلَائِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَتَّابِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَوْ أَمْسَکَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ الْمَطَرَ عَنْ عِبَادِهِ خَمْسَ سِنِينَ ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَهُ لَأَصْبَحَتْ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ النَّاسِ کَافِرِينَ يَقُولُونَ سُقِينَا بِنَوْئِ الْمِجْدَحِ

It was narrated that Abu Saeed Al-Khudri said: “The Messenger of Allah said: ‘If Allah were to withhold rain from His slaves for five years and then send it, some of the people would become dis believers, saying: “We have been given rain by the star of Al Mijdah.” (Da’if)

أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَعِيلُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ قَحَطَ الْمَطَرُ عَامًا فَقَامَ بَعْضُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ إِلَی النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي يَوْمِ جُمُعَةٍ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَحَطَ الْمَطَرُ وَأَجْدَبَتْ الْأَرْضُ وَهَلَکَ الْمَالُ قَالَ فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ وَمَا نَرَی فِي السَّمَائِ سَحَابَةً فَمَدَّ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّی رَأَيْتُ بَيَاضَ إِبْطَيْهِ يَسْتَسْقِي اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَالَ فَمَا صَلَّيْنَا الْجُمُعَةَ حَتَّی أَهَمَّ الشَّابَّ الْقَرِيبَ الدَّارِ الرُّجُوعُ إِلَی أَهْلِهِ فَدَامَتْ جُمُعَةٌ فَلَمَّا کَانَتْ الْجُمُعَةُ الَّتِي تَلِيهَا قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ تَهَدَّمَتْ الْبُيُوتُ وَاحْتَبَسَ الرُّکْبَانُ قَالَ فَتَبَسَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِسُرْعَةِ مَلَالَةِ ابْنِ آدَمَ وَقَالَ بِيَدَيْهِ اللَّهُمَّ حَوَالَيْنَا وَلَا عَلَيْنَا فَتَکَشَّطَتْ عَنْ الْمَدِينَةِ

It was narrated that Anas said: “There was no rain for a year, so some of the Muslims went to the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم, one Friday and said: ‘Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم, there has been no rain; the land has become bare and our wealth has been destroyed.’ He raised his hands, and we did not see any cloud in the sky. He stretched forth his hands until I could see the whiteness of his armpits, praying to Allah for rain. When we finished praying Jumu’ah, even a young man whose house was nearby was worried about how he would get home. That lasted for a week, then on the following Friday they said: ‘Messenger of Allah, houses have been destroyed and all travel has ceased.’ The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم smiled at how quickly the sons of Adam become weary, and he said with his hands raised: ‘Allah, around us and not on us, and it dispersed from Al Madinah.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا أَبُو عَمْرٍو الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ عَنْ إِسْحَقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِکٍ قَالَ أَصَابَ النَّاسُ سَنَةٌ عَلَی عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَبَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ عَلَی الْمِنْبَرِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَقَامَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَلَکَ الْمَالُ وَجَاعَ الْعِيَالُ فَادْعُ اللَّهَ لَنَا فَرَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَيْهِ وَمَا نَرَی فِي السَّمَائِ قَزَعَةً وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ مَا وَضَعَهَا حَتَّی ثَارَ سَحَابٌ أَمْثَالُ الْجِبَالِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَنْزِلْ عَنْ مِنْبَرِهِ حَتَّی رَأَيْتُ الْمَطَرَ يَتَحَادَرُ عَلَی لِحْيَتِهِ فَمُطِرْنَا يَوْمَنَا ذَلِکَ وَمِنْ الْغَدِ وَالَّذِي يَلِيهِ حَتَّی الْجُمُعَةِ الْأُخْرَی فَقَامَ ذَلِکَ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ أَوْ قَالَ غَيْرُهُ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ تَهَدَّمَ الْبِنَائُ وَغَرِقَ الْمَالُ فَادْعُ اللَّهَ لَنَا فَرَفَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَيْهِ فَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ حَوَالَيْنَا وَلَا عَلَيْنَا فَمَا يُشِيرُ بِيَدِهِ إِلَی نَاحِيَةٍ مِنْ السَّحَابِ إِلَّا انْفَرَجَتْ حَتَّی صَارَتْ الْمَدِينَةُ مِثْلَ الْجَوْبَةِ وَسَالَ الْوَادِي وَلَمْ يَجِئْ أَحَدٌ مِنْ نَاحِيَةٍ إِلَّا أَخْبَرَ بِالْجَوْدِ

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: “There was a drought during the time of the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلمWhile the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم was delivering the Khutbah on the Minbar one Friday, a Bedouin stood up and said: ‘Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم, wealth has been destroyed and our children are hungry; pray to Allah for us.’ The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم raised his hands, and we could not see even a wisp of a cloud in the sky, but by the One in Whose hand is my soul, he did not lower (his hands) before clouds like mountains appeared, and he did not come down from his Minbar before we saw the rain dripping from his beard. It rained that day and the next day, and the day after, until the following Friday. Then that Bedouin” — or he said, “someone else” — “stood up and said: ‘Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم, buildings have been destroyed and wealth has drowned; pray to Allah for us. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم raised his hands and said: ‘Allah, around us and not on us.’ He did not point in any direction but the clouds dispersed, until Al-Madinah became like a hole. And the valleys ran with water and no one came from any direction but he told us of the heavy rains.”(Sahih).

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وَکِيعٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ الْأَشْعَثِ بْنِ أَبِي الشَّعْثَائِ عَنْ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ زَهْدَمٍ قَالَ کُنَّا مَعَ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِي بِطَبَرِسْتَانَ وَمَعَنَا حُذَيْفَةُ بْنُ الْيَمَانِ فَقَالَ أَيُّکُمْ صَلَّی مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ أَنَا فَوَصَفَ فَقَالَ صَلَّی رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ بِطَائِفَةٍ رَکْعَةً صَفٍّ خَلْفَهُ وَطَائِفَةٍ أُخْرَی بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْعَدُوِّ فَصَلَّی بِالطَّائِفَةِ الَّتِي تَلِيهِ رَکْعَةً ثُمَّ نَکَصَ هَؤُلَائِ إِلَی مَصَافِّ أُولَئِکَ وَجَائَ أُولَئِکَ فَصَلَّی بِهِمْ رَکْعَةً

It was narrated that Tha’labah bin Zahdam said: “We were with Saeed bin Al-’Aas in Qabaristan, and Hudhaifah bin Al Yaman was with us. He said: ‘Which of you offered the fear prayer with the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ?’ Iludhaifah said: ‘I did,’ and he described it. He said: ‘The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم t offered the fear prayer, leading one group who had formed rows behind him in praying one Rak’ah, while the other group was between him and the enemy. So he led the group that was near him in praying one Rak’ah, then they left and took the place of the others, and the others came and he led them in praying one Rak’ah.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَشْعَثُ بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ عَنْ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ زَهْدَمٍ قَالَ کُنَّا مَعَ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْعَاصِي بِطَبَرِسْتَانَ فَقَالَ أَيُّکُمْ صَلَّی مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ أَنَا فَقَامَ حُذَيْفَةُ فَصَفَّ النَّاسُ خَلْفَهُ صَفَّيْنِ صَفًّا خَلْفَهُ وَصَفًّا مُوَازِيَ الْعَدُوِّ فَصَلَّی بِالَّذِي خَلْفَهُ رَکْعَةً ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ هَؤُلَائِ إِلَی مَکَانِ هَؤُلَائِ وَجَائَ أُولَئِکَ فَصَلَّی بِهِمْ رَکْعَةً وَلَمْ يَقْضُوا

It was narrated Tha’labah bin Zahdam said: “We were with Saeed bin Al-’Asi in Tabaristan and he said: ‘Which of you offered the fear prayer with the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ?‘ Hudhaifah said: ‘I did.’ So Hudhaifah stood and the people formed two rows behind him, one row behind him and one row facing the enemy. He led those who were behind him in praying one Rak’ah, then they went and took the place of the others, and the others came and he led them in praying one Rak’ah, and they did not make it up.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الرُّکَيْنُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ عَنْ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَ صَلَاةِ حُذَيْفَةَ

A prayer like that of Hudhaifah was narrated from Zaid bin Thabit from the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم.(Sahih)
