أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ آدَمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيکٌ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَقَ عَنْ يَحْيَی بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ الْبَهْرَانِيِّ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ کَانَ يُنْقَعُ لَهُ الزَّبِيبُ فَيَشْرَبُهُ يَوْمَهُ وَالْغَدَ وَبَعْدَ الْغَدِ

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that raisins would be soaked for the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم and he would drink it that day, the following day, and the day after that. (Sahih).

أَخْبَرَنَا وَاصِلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَی عَنْ ابْنِ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ يَحْيَی بْنِ أَبِي عُمَرَ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ کَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُنْبَذُ لَهُ نَبِيذُ الزَّبِيبِ مِنْ اللَّيْلِ فَيَجْعَلُهُ فِي سِقَائٍ فَيَشْرَبُهُ يَوْمَهُ ذَلِکَ وَالْغَدَ وَبَعْدَ الْغَدِ فَإِذَا کَانَ مِنْ آخِرِ الثَّالِثَةِ سَقَاهُ أَوْ شَرِبَهُ فَإِنْ أَصْبَحَ مِنْهُ شَيْئٌ أَهْرَاقَهُ

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said: “Nabidh of raisins would be made for the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم at night, and he would put it in a water skin and drink it during the next day, the day after, and the day after that. At the end of the third day, he would give it to others to drink, or drink it himself, and if anything was left the following morning, he would pour it away.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدٌ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ کَانَ يُنْبَذُ لَهُ فِي سِقَائٍ الزَّبِيبُ غُدْوَةً فَيَشْرَبُهُ مِنْ اللَّيْلِ وَيُنْبَذُ لَهُ عَشِيَّةً فَيَشْرَبُهُ غُدْوَةً وَکَانَ يَغْسِلُ الْأَسْقِيَةَ وَلَا يَجْعَلُ فِيهَا دُرْدِيًّا وَلَا شَيْئًا قَالَ نَافِعٌ فَکُنَّا نَشْرَبُهُ مِثْلَ الْعَسَلِ

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that Nabidh of raisins would be made for him in a water skin in the morning, and he would drink it that night, and it would be made for him in the evening, and he would drink it in the morning. He would wash out the water skins and not leave any pieces or anything in them. Nafi’ said: “We used to drink it like honey.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدٌ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ بَسَّامٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ النَّبِيذِ قَالَ کَانَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يُنْبَذُ لَهُ مِنْ اللَّيْلِ فَيَشْرَبُهُ غُدْوَةً وَيُنْبَذُ لَهُ غُدْوَةً فَيَشْرَبُهُ مِنْ اللَّيْلِ

It was narrated that Bassam said: “I asked Abu Ja’far about Nabidh and he said: “ ‘Ali bin Husain, may Allah be pleased with him, would have Nabidh made for him at night, and he would drink it in the morning, and he would have Nabidh made in the morning and he would drink it at night.” (Sahih)

‘Abdullah said: “I heard Sufyán being asked about Nabidh.lie said: ‘Make Nabidh at night and drink it in the morning.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدٌ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ وَلَيْسَ بِالنَّهْدِيِّ أَنَّ أُمَّ الْفَضْلِ أَرْسَلَتْ إِلَی أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِکٍ تَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ نَبِيذِ الْجَرِّ فَحَدَّثَهَا عَنْ النَّضْرِ ابْنِهِ أَنَّهُ کَانَ يَنْبِذُ فِي جَرٍّ يُنْبَذُ غَدْوَةً وَيَشْرَبُهُ عَشِيَّةً

It was narrated from Abu ‘Uthman, who was not Al-Hindi, that Umm Al-Fadl sent word to Anas bin Malik, asking him about Nabidh made in an earthenware jar. He told her about his son An Nadr, who used to make Nabidh in an earthenware jar in the morning and drink it in the evening. (Da’if)

أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدٌ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ أَنَّهُ کَانَ يَکْرَهُ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ نَطْلَ النَّبِيذِ فِي النَّبِيذِ لِيَشْتَدَّ بِالنَّطْلِ

It was narrated from Saeed bin Al-Musayyib that he disliked putting the dregs of Nabidh into (new) Nabidh lest it become strong because of the dregs. (Sahih)

It was narrated that Saeed bin Al-Musayyab said concerning Nabidh: “The dregs are what intoxicates.” (Hasan)

أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدٌ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ قَالَ إِنَّمَا سُمِّيَتْ الْخَمْرُ لِأَنَّهَا تُرِکَتْ حَتَّی مَضَی صَفْوُهَا وَبَقِيَ کَدَرُهَا وَکَانَ يَکْرَهُ کُلَّ شَيْئٍ يُنْبَذُ عَلَی عَکَرٍ

It was narrated that Saeed bin Al-Musayyab said: “Khamr is so called because it is left until the good parts are gone and the dregs remain.” And he disliked everything that was made by using dregs (by adding new materials to the dregs). (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ فُضَيْلِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ کَانُوا يَرَوْنَ أَنَّ مَنْ شَرِبَ شَرَابًا فَسَکِرَ مِنْهُ لَمْ يَصْلُحْ لَهُ أَنْ يَعُودَ فِيهِ

It was narrated that Ibrahim said: “They used to think that whoever drank something and became intoxicated from it, it was not befitting for him to go back and drink more of the same.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدَةُ وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَوْلَا حَدَاثَةُ عَهْدِ قَوْمِکِ بِالْکُفْرِ لَنَقَضْتُ الْبَيْتَ فَبَنَيْتُهُ عَلَی أَسَاسِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام وَجَعَلْتُ لَهُ خَلْفًا فَإِنَّ قُرَيْشًا لَمَّا بَنَتْ الْبَيْتَ اسْتَقْصَرَتْ

It was narrated that Aishah said: “The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: ‘Were it not for the fact that your people have recently left disbelief, I would have knocked down the House and rebuilt it on the foundations of Ibrahim, peace be upon him, and I would have given it a back door. For when the Quraish built the House, they made it too small.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَی عَنْ خَالِدٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَقَ عَنْ الْأَسْوَدِ أَنَّ أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَالَتْ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَوْلَا أَنَّ قَوْمِي وَفِي حَدِيثِ مُحَمَّدٍ قَوْمَکِ حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِجَاهِلِيَّةٍ لَهَدَمْتُ الْکَعْبَةَ وَجَعَلْتُ لَهَا بَابَيْنِ فَلَمَّا مَلَکَ ابْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ جَعَلَ لَهَا بَابَيْنِ

It was narrated from Al Aswad that the Mother of the Believers said: “The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: ‘Were it not for the fact that my people’ — according to the narration of Muhammad he said: ‘your people’ — ‘have recently left Jahiliyyah, I would have knocked down the House and given it two doors.” When Ibn Az Zubair was in power, he gave it two doors. (Sahih)
