حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَی حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ شُبَيْلٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيِّ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ قَالَ کَانَ أَحَدُنَا يُکَلِّمُ الرَّجُلَ إِلَی جَنْبِهِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَنَزَلَتْ وَقُومُوا لِلَّهِ قَانِتِينَ فَأُمِرْنَا بِالسُّکُوتِ وَنُهِينَا عَنْ الْکَلَامِ

Zaid bin Arqam said ; One of us used to speak to the man standing by his side during prayer. Then the Quranic verse “ And stand up with devotion to Allah”

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ بْنِ أَعْيَنَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ هِلَالٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ يَسَافٍ عَنْ أَبِي يَحْيَی عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ حُدِّثْتُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ صَلَاةُ الرَّجُلِ قَاعِدًا نِصْفُ الصَّلَاةِ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَوَجَدْتُهُ يُصَلِّي جَالِسًا فَوَضَعْتُ يَدَيَّ عَلَی رَأْسِي فَقَالَ مَا لَکَ يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو قُلْتُ حُدِّثْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَنَّکَ قُلْتَ صَلَاةُ الرَّجُلِ قَاعِدًا نِصْفُ الصَّلَاةِ وَأَنْتَ تُصَلِّي قَاعِدًا قَالَ أَجَلْ وَلَکِنِّي لَسْتُ کَأَحَدٍ مِنْکُمْ

Abdullah bin Amr said: It has been narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The Prayer of a man in sitting condition is half the prayer (wins him half the reward of prayer). I came to him and found him prayer in sitting condition. I placed my hand on my head (in surprise). He said: what is the matter, Abdullah bin Amr? I said; Messenger of Allah ﷺ you have been reported to me as saying: the prayer of a man in sitting condition is half the prayer, but you are praying in sitting condition. He said: yes, but I am not like one of you.

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی عَنْ حُسَيْنٍ الْمُعَلِّمِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الرَّجُلِ قَاعِدًا فَقَالَ صَلَاتُهُ قَائِمًا أَفْضَلُ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ قَاعِدًا وَصَلَاتُهُ قَاعِدًا عَلَی النِّصْفِ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ قَائِمًا وَصَلَاتُهُ نَائِمًا عَلَی النِّصْفِ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ قَاعِدًا

Abdullah bin Buraidah said: Imran bin Hussain asked the prophet ﷺ about the prayer a man offers in sitting condition. He replied: his prayer in standing condition is better than his prayer in sitting condition, and his prayer in sitting condition is half the prayer he offers in standing condition, and his prayer in lying condition is half the prayer he offers in sitting condition.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْأَنْبَارِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا وَکِيعٌ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ طَهْمَانَ عَنْ حُسَيْنٍ الْمُعَلِّمِ عَنْ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ کَانَ بِي النَّاصُورُ فَسَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ صَلِّ قَائِمًا فَإِنْ لَمْ تَسْتَطِعْ فَقَاعِدًا فَإِنْ لَمْ تَسْتَطِعْ فَعَلَی جَنْبٍ

Imran bin Husain said: I had a fistula; so I asked the prophet ﷺ. He said: offer prayer in standing condition; if you are unable to do so, then in sitting condition: if you are then at your side (i. e, in lying condition).

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يُونُسَ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ فِي شَيْئٍ مِنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ جَالِسًا قَطُّ حَتَّی دَخَلَ فِي السِّنِّ فَکَانَ يَجْلِسُ فِيهَا فَيَقْرَأُ حَتَّی إِذَا بَقِيَ أَرْبَعُونَ أَوْ ثَلَاثُونَ آيَةً قَامَ فَقَرَأَهَا ثُمَّ سَجَدَ

Aishah said: I never saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ reciting the Quraan in his prayer at night in sitting condition until he became old. Then he used to sit in it (the prayer) and recite the Quran until forty or thirty verses remained, then he stood and recited them and prostrated himself.

حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِکٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ وَأَبِي النَّضْرِ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ کَانَ يُصَلِّي جَالِسًا فَيَقْرَأُ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ وَإِذَا بَقِيَ مِنْ قِرَائَتِهِ قَدْرُ مَا يَکُونُ ثَلَاثِينَ أَوْ أَرْبَعِينَ آيَةً قَامَ فَقَرَأَهَا وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ ثُمَّ رَکَعَ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ ثُمَّ يَفْعَلُ فِي الرَّکْعَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ مِثْلَ ذَلِکَ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد رَوَاهُ عَلْقَمَةُ بْنُ وَقَّاصٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَهُ

Aishah, wife of the prophet ﷺ, said: when the prophet ﷺ prayed sitting, he recited the Quran in sitting condition. When the amount of his recitation remained about thirty or forty verses he stood up and recited them standing. He then bowed and prostrated and then did so in the second Rak’ah of the prayer. Abu Dawud said: Alqamah bin Waqqas narrated this tradition on the authority of Aishah from the Prophet ﷺ to the same effect.

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ قَالَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ بُدَيْلَ بْنَ مَيْسَرَةَ وَأَيُّوبَ يُحَدِّثَانِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ کَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي لَيْلًا طَوِيلًا قَائِمًا وَلَيْلًا طَوِيلًا قَاعِدًا فَإِذَا صَلَّی قَائِمًا رَکَعَ قَائِمًا وَإِذَا صَلَّی قَاعِدًا رَکَعَ قَاعِدًا

Aishah said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray standing at night for a long time, and used to pray sitting at night for a long time. When he prayed standing, he bowed standing, and when he prayed sitting, he bowed sitting.

حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ حَدَّثَنَا کَهْمَسُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ أَکَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ السُّورَةَ فِي رَکْعَةٍ قَالَتْ الْمُفَصَّلَ قَالَ قُلْتُ فَکَانَ يُصَلِّي قَاعِدًا قَالَتْ حِينَ حَطَمَهُ النَّاسُ

Abdullah bin Shaqiq said: I asked Aishah whether the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited a whole Surah (of the Quran) in one Rak’ah of the prayer. She replied: (He recited from among) the Mufassal surahs. I asked: Did he pray (at night) sitting? She replied: (he prayed sitting) when the people made him old.

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ کُلَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لَأَنْظُرَنَّ إِلَی صَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ کَيْفَ يُصَلِّي فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ فَکَبَّرَ فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّی حَاذَتَا بِأُذُنَيْهِ ثُمَّ أَخَذَ شِمَالَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْکَعَ رَفَعَهُمَا مِثْلَ ذَلِکَ قَالَ ثُمَّ جَلَسَ فَافْتَرَشَ رِجْلَهُ الْيُسْرَی وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُسْرَی عَلَی فَخِذِهِ الْيُسْرَی وَحَدَّ مِرْفَقَهُ الْأَيْمَنَ عَلَی فَخِذِهِ الْيُمْنَی وَقَبَضَ ثِنْتَيْنِ وَحَلَّقَ حَلْقَةً وَرَأَيْتُهُ يَقُولُ هَکَذَا وَحَلَّقَ بِشْرٌ الْإِبْهَامَ وَالْوُسْطَی وَأَشَارَ بِالسَّبَّابَةِ

Narrated Wail ibn Hujr: I said that I should look at the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ how he prays. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up and faced the qiblah (i. e. the direction of Kabah) and uttered the takbir (Allah is most great); then he raised his hands till he brought them in front of his ears; then he caught hold of his left hand with his right hand (i. e. folded his hands). When he was about to bow, he raised them (his hands) in a like manner. Then he sat, stretched out his left foot (to sit on it), placed his left hand on his left thigh, and kept away the tip of his right elbow from his right thigh, joined two fingers, formed a ring, to do so. And the narrator Bishr made a ring with the thumb and the middle finger.

وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ ← أَبِيهِ ← عَاصِمِ بْنِ کُلَیْبٍ، ← بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ ← مُسَدَّدٌ

Abdullah bin Umar said: "A Sunnah of the prayer is that you should raise your right foot, and make your left foot lie (on the ground). "

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ مُعَاذٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْقَاسِمَ يَقُولُ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ مِنْ سُنَّةِ الصَّلَاةِ أَنْ تُضْجِعَ رِجْلَكَ الْيُسْرَى وَتَنْصِبَ الْيُمْنَى حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى بِإِسْنَادِهِ مِثْلَهُ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد قَالَ حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى أَيْضًا مِنْ السُّنَّةِ كَمَا قَالَ جَرِيرٌ حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ أَنَّ الْقَاسِمَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ أَرَاهُمْ الْجُلُوسَ فِي التَّشَهُّدِ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ

(There is another chain) reported from Yahya who said: "I heard Al-Qasim saying: "Abdullah bin Abdullah informed me that he heard Abdullah bin Umar saying: "From the Sunnah of the prayer is to lay your left foot on the ground, and raise your right foot. "

الْحَدِيثَ. ← يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ أَنَّ الْقَاسِمَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ أَرَاهُمْ الْجُلُوسَ فِي التَّشَهُّدِ ← مَالِكٍ، ← الْقَعْنَبِيُّ ← جَرِيرٌ ← يَحْيَى أَيْضًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مِنَ السُّنَّةِ. كَمَا ← حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ← أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ← يَحْيَی بِإِسْنَادِهِ مِثْلَهُ ← جَرِيرٌ ← عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ← «مِنْ سُنَّةِ الصَّلَاةِ أَنْ تُضْجِعَ رِجْلَكَ الْيُسْرَى، وَتَنْصِبَ الْيُمْنَى»، ← عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ،أَنَّهُ ← الْقَاسِمِ، ← يَحْيَى ← عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ، ← ابْنُ مُعَاذٍ

حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ يَحْيَى بِإِسْنَادِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مِثْلَهُ. قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ:‏‏‏‏ عَنْ يَحْيَى أَيْضًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مِنَ السُّنَّةِ. كَمَا قَالَ جَرِيرٌ.

(There is another chain) from Yahya with his chain and similar (to the previous hadith). Abu Dawud said: Hammad bin Zaid also said (the wording): "From the Sunnah" (narrating) from Yahya just as Jarir did.

جَرِيرٌ ← يَحْيَى أَيْضًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مِنَ السُّنَّةِ. كَمَا ← حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ← أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ← يَحْيَی بِإِسْنَادِهِ مِثْلَهُ ← جَرِيرٌ ← عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ
