حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی حَدَّثَنَا وَکِيعٌ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ وَمَا يُتْلَی عَلَيْکُمْ فِي الْکِتَابِ فِي يَتَامَی النِّسَائِ اللَّاتِي لَا تُؤْتُونَهُنَّ مَا کُتِبَ لَهُنَّ وَتَرْغَبُونَ أَنْ تَنْکِحُوهُنَّ قَالَتْ هَذَا فِي الْيَتِيمَةِ الَّتِي تَکُونُ عِنْدَ الرَّجُلِ لَعَلَّهَا أَنْ تَکُونَ شَرِيکَتَهُ فِي مَالِهِ وَهُوَ أَوْلَی بِهَا فَيَرْغَبُ عَنْهَا أَنْ يَنْکِحَهَا فَيَعْضُلَهَا لِمَالِهَا وَلَا يُنْکِحَهَا غَيْرَهُ کَرَاهِيَةَ أَنْ يَشْرَکَهُ أَحَدٌ فِي مَالِهَا

Narrated Al-Hasan: concerning the Verse: 'Do not prevent them' (2.232) Ma'qil bin Yasar told me that it was revealed in his connection. He said, "I married my sister to a man and he divorced her, and when her days of 'Idda (three menstrual periods) were over, the man came again and asked for her hand, but I said to him, 'I married her to you and made her your bed (your wife) and favored you with her, but you divorced her. Now you come to ask for her hand again? No, by Allah, she will never go back to you (again)!' That man was not a bad man and his wife wanted to go back to him. So Allah revealed this Verse: 'Do not prevent them.' (2.232) So I said, 'Now I will do it (let her go back to him), O Allah's Apostle."So he married her to him again.

لَهُنَّ وَتَرْغَبُونَ ← عَائِشَةَ وَمَا يُتْلَی عَلَيْکُمْ فِي الْکِتَابِ فِي يَتَامَی النِّسَائِ اللَّاتِي لَا تُؤْتُونَهُنَّ مَا ← أَبِيهِ ← هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، ← وَكِيعٌ، ← يَحْيَى

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ حَدَّثَنَا الزُّهْرِيُّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمٌ أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عُمَرَ حِينَ تَأَيَّمَتْ حَفْصَةُ بِنْتُ عُمَرَ مِنْ ابْنِ حُذَافَةَ السَّهْمِيِّ وَکَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَدْرٍ تُوُفِّيَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ لَقِيتُ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ فَعَرَضْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَقُلْتُ إِنْ شِئْتَ أَنْکَحْتُکَ حَفْصَةَ فَقَالَ سَأَنْظُرُ فِي أَمْرِي فَلَبِثْتُ لَيَالِيَ ثُمَّ لَقِيَنِي فَقَالَ بَدَا لِي أَنْ لَا أَتَزَوَّجَ يَوْمِي هَذَا قَالَ عُمَرُ فَلَقِيتُ أَبَا بَکْرٍ فَقُلْتُ إِنْ شِئْتَ أَنْکَحْتُکَ حَفْصَةَ

Narrated `Aisha: (regarding His Statement): 'They ask your instruction concerning the women. Say: Allah instructs you about them ...' (4.127) It is about the female orphan who is under the guardianship of a man with whom she shares her property and he does not want to marry her and dislikes that someone else should marry her, lest he should share the property with him, so he prevents her from marrying. So Allah forbade such a guardian to do so (i.e. to prevent her from marrying).

عُمَرُ فَلَقِيتُ أَبَا بَکْرٍ فَقُلْتُ إِنْ شِئْتَ أَنْکَحْتُکَ حَفْصَةَ ← بَدَا لِي أَنْ لَا أَتَزَوَّجَ يَوْمِي هَذَا ← سَأَنْظُرُ فِي أَمْرِي فَلَبِثْتُ لَيَالِيَ ثُمَّ لَقِيَنِي ← عُمَرُ لَقِيتُ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ فَعَرَضْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَقُلْتُ إِنْ شِئْتَ أَنْکَحْتُکَ حَفْصَةَ ← کَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَدْرٍ تُوُفِّيَ ← أَنَّ عُمَرَ حِينَ تَأَيَّمَتْ حَفْصَةُ بِنْتُ عُمَرَ مِنْ ابْنِ حُذَافَةَ السَّهْمِيِّ ← سَالِمٍ أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ← الزُّهْرِيِّ، ← مَعْمَرٌ، ← هِشَامٍ ← عَبْدُ اللہِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ،

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ ابْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنْ الْحَسَنِ فَلَا تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَعْقِلُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ أَنَّهَا نَزَلَتْ فِيهِ قَالَ زَوَّجْتُ أُخْتًا لِي مِنْ رَجُلٍ فَطَلَّقَهَا حَتَّی إِذَا انْقَضَتْ عِدَّتُهَا جَائَ يَخْطُبُهَا فَقُلْتُ لَهُ زَوَّجْتُکَ وَفَرَشْتُکَ وَأَکْرَمْتُکَ فَطَلَّقْتَهَا ثُمَّ جِئْتَ تَخْطُبُهَا لَا وَاللَّهِ لَا تَعُودُ إِلَيْکَ أَبَدًا وَکَانَ رَجُلًا لَا بَأْسَ بِهِ وَکَانَتْ الْمَرْأَةُ تُرِيدُ أَنْ تَرْجِعَ إِلَيْهِ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ فَلَا تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ فَقُلْتُ الْآنَ أَفْعَلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ فَزَوَّجَهَا إِيَّاهُ

Narrated Sahl bin Sa`d: While we were sitting in the company of the Prophet a woman came to him and presented herself (for marriage) to him. The Prophet looked at her, lowering his eyes and raising them, but did not give a reply. One of his companions said, "Marry her to me O Allah's Apostle!" The Prophet asked (him), "Have you got anything?" He said, "I have got nothing." The Prophet said, "Not even an iron ring?" He Sa`d, "Not even an iron ring, but I will tear my garment into two halves and give her one half and keep the other half." The Prophet; said, "No. Do you know some of the Qur'an (by heart)?" He said, "Yes." The Prophet said, "Go, I have agreed to marry her to you with what you know of the Qur'an (as her Mahr)." 'And for those who have no courses (i.e. they are still immature). (65.4) And the 'Iddat for the girl before puberty is three months (in the above Verse).

مَعْقِلُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ أَنَّهَا نَزَلَتْ فِيهِ ← الْحَسَنِ فَلَا تَعْضُلُوهُنَّ ← يُونُسَ ← إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ← أَبِي ← أَحْمَدُ ابْنُ أَبِي عَمْرٍو

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ سَلَامٍ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا فِي قَوْلِهِ وَيَسْتَفْتُونَکَ فِي النِّسَائِ قُلْ اللَّهُ يُفْتِيکُمْ فِيهِنَّ إِلَی آخِرِ الْآيَةِ قَالَتْ هِيَ الْيَتِيمَةُ تَکُونُ فِي حَجْرِ الرَّجُلِ قَدْ شَرِکَتْهُ فِي مَالِهِ فَيَرْغَبُ عَنْهَا أَنْ يَتَزَوَّجَهَا وَيَکْرَهُ أَنْ يُزَوِّجَهَا غَيْرَهُ فَيَدْخُلَ عَلَيْهِ فِي مَالِهِ فَيَحْبِسُهَا فَنَهَاهُمْ اللَّهُ عَنْ ذَلِکَ

Narrated `Aisha: that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e., till his death).

عَائِشَةَ فِي قَوْلِهِ وَيَسْتَفْتُونَکَ فِي النِّسَائِ قُلْ اللَّهُ يُفْتِيکُمْ فِيهِنَّ إِلَی آخِرِ الْآيَةِ ← أَبِيهِ ← هِشَامٍ ← أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ← ابْنُ سَلَّامٍ

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمِقْدَامِ حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَازِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ کُنَّا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جُلُوسًا فَجَائَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ تَعْرِضُ نَفْسَهَا عَلَيْهِ فَخَفَّضَ فِيهَا النَّظَرَ وَرَفَعَهُ فَلَمْ يُرِدْهَا فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ زَوِّجْنِيهَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ أَعِنْدَکَ مِنْ شَيْئٍ قَالَ مَا عِنْدِي مِنْ شَيْئٍ قَالَ وَلَا خَاتَمٌ مِنْ حَدِيدٍ قَالَ وَلَا خَاتَمٌ مِنْ حَدِيدٍ وَلَکِنْ أَشُقُّ بُرْدَتِي هَذِهِ فَأُعْطِيهَا النِّصْفَ وَآخُذُ النِّصْفَ قَالَ لَا هَلْ مَعَکَ مِنْ الْقُرْآنِ شَيْئٌ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ اذْهَبْ فَقَدْ زَوَّجْتُکَهَا بِمَا مَعَکَ مِنْ الْقُرْآنِ

Narrated `Aisha: that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old. Hisham said: I have been informed that `Aisha remained with the Prophet for nine years (i.e. till his death).

أَبُو حَازِمٍ ← فُضَيْلُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، ← أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمِقْدَامِ

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی عَنْ عِمْرَانَ أَبِي بَکْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو رَجَائٍ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ أُنْزِلَتْ آيَةُ الْمُتْعَةِ فِي کِتَابِ اللَّهِ فَفَعَلْنَاهَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَمْ يُنْزَلْ قُرْآنٌ يُحَرِّمُهُ وَلَمْ يَنْهَ عَنْهَا حَتَّی مَاتَ قَالَ رَجُلٌ بِرَأْيِهِ مَا شَائَ

Narrated `Aisha: The Quraish people and those who embraced their religion, used to stay at Muzdalifa and used to call themselves Al-Hums, while the rest of the Arabs used to stay at `Arafat. When Islam came, Allah ordered His Prophet to go to `Arafat and stay at it, and then pass on from there, and that is what is meant by the Statement of Allah:--"Then depart from the place whence all the people depart......" (2.199)

عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ← أَبُو رَجَائٍ ← عمران أبي بكر ← يَحْيَى ← مُسَدَّدٌ

حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ کَانَتْ عُکَاظُ وَمَجَنَّةُ وَذُو الْمَجَازِ أَسْوَاقًا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَتَأَثَّمُوا أَنْ يَتَّجِرُوا فِي الْمَوَاسِمِ فَنَزَلَتْ لَيْسَ عَلَيْکُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَنْ تَبْتَغُوا فَضْلًا مِنْ رَبِّکُمْ فِي مَوَاسِمِ الْحَجِّ

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: A man who wants to perform the Hajj (from Mecca) can perform the Tawaf around the Ka`ba as long as he is not in the state of Ihram till he assumes the Ihram for Hajj. Then, if he rides and proceeds to `Arafat, he should take a Hadi (i.e. animal for sacrifice), either a camel or a cow or a sheep, whatever he can afford; but if he cannot afford it, he should fast for three days during the Hajj before the day of `Arafat, but if the third day of his fasting happens to be the day of `Arafat (i.e. 9th of Dhul-Hijja) then it is no sin for him (to fast on it). Then he should proceed to `Arafat and stay there from the time of the `Asr prayer till darkness falls. Then the pilgrims should proceed from `Arafat, and when they have departed from it, they reach Jam' (i.e. Al-Muzdalifa) where they ask Allah to help them to be righteous and dutiful to Him, and there they remember Allah greatly or say Takbir (i.e. Allah is Greater) and Tahlil (i.e. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah) repeatedly before dawn breaks. Then, after offering the morning (Fajr) prayer you should pass on (to Mina) for the people used to do so and Allah said:-- "Then depart from the place whence all the people depart. And ask for Allah's Forgiveness. Truly! Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (2.199) Then you should go on doing so till you throw pebbles over the Jamra.

ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← عَمْرٍو، ← ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، ← مُحَمَّدٍ

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَازِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا کَانَتْ قُرَيْشٌ وَمَنْ دَانَ دِينَهَا يَقِفُونَ بِالْمُزْدَلِفَةِ وَکَانُوا يُسَمَّوْنَ الْحُمْسَ وَکَانَ سَائِرُ الْعَرَبِ يَقِفُونَ بِعَرَفَاتٍ فَلَمَّا جَائَ الْإِسْلَامُ أَمَرَ اللَّهُ نَبِيَّهُ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ عَرَفَاتٍ ثُمَّ يَقِفَ بِهَا ثُمَّ يُفِيضَ مِنْهَا فَذَلِکَ قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَی ثُمَّ أَفِيضُوا مِنْ حَيْثُ أَفَاضَ النَّاسُ

Narrated Anas: The Prophet used to say, "O Allah! Our Lord! Give us in this world that, which is good and in the Hereafter that, which is good and save us from the torment of the Fire." (2.201)

أَبِيهِ ← هِشَامٍ ← مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَازِمٍ ← عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ،

حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَکْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَی بْنُ عُقْبَةَ أَخْبَرَنِي کُرَيْبٌ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ يَطَّوَّفُ الرَّجُلُ بِالْبَيْتِ مَا کَانَ حَلَالًا حَتَّی يُهِلَّ بِالْحَجِّ فَإِذَا رَکِبَ إِلَی عَرَفَةَ فَمَنْ تَيَسَّرَ لَهُ هَدِيَّةٌ مِنْ الْإِبِلِ أَوْ الْبَقَرِ أَوْ الْغَنَمِ مَا تَيَسَّرَ لَهُ مِنْ ذَلِکَ أَيَّ ذَلِکَ شَائَ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ إِنْ لَمْ يَتَيَسَّرْ لَهُ فَعَلَيْهِ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ فِي الْحَجِّ وَذَلِکَ قَبْلَ يَوْمِ عَرَفَةَ فَإِنْ کَانَ آخِرُ يَوْمٍ مِنْ الْأَيَّامِ الثَّلَاثَةِ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ لِيَنْطَلِقْ حَتَّی يَقِفَ بِعَرَفَاتٍ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ إِلَی أَنْ يَکُونَ الظَّلَامُ ثُمَّ لِيَدْفَعُوا مِنْ عَرَفَاتٍ إِذَا أَفَاضُوا مِنْهَا حَتَّی يَبْلُغُوا جَمْعًا الَّذِي يَبِيتُونَ بِهِ ثُمَّ لِيَذْکُرُوا اللَّهَ کَثِيرًا وَأَکْثِرُوا التَّکْبِيرَ وَالتَّهْلِيلَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُصْبِحُوا ثُمَّ أَفِيضُوا فَإِنَّ النَّاسَ کَانُوا يُفِيضُونَ وَقَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَی ثُمَّ أَفِيضُوا مِنْ حَيْثُ أَفَاضَ النَّاسُ وَاسْتَغْفِرُوا اللَّهَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ حَتَّی تَرْمُوا الْجَمْرَةَ

Narrated `Aisha: The Prophet said, "The most hated man in the Sight of Allah is the one who is the most quarrelsome." Narrated `Aisha: The Prophet said, "Or do you think that you shall enter Paradise without such (trials) as came to those who passed away before you?" (2.214)

ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← كُرَيْبٍ، ← مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، ← فُضَيْلُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، ← مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ،

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ کَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Narrated Ibn Abu Mulaika: Ibn `Abbas recited: "(Respite will be granted) until when the Apostles gave up hope (of their people) and thought that they were denied (by their people). There came to them Our Help ...." (12.110) reading Kudhibu without doubling the sound 'dh', and that was what he understood of the Verse. Then he went on reciting: "..even the Apostle and those who believed along with him said: When (will come) Allah's Help? Yes, verily, Allah's Help is near." (2.214) Then I met `Urwa bin Az-Zubair and I mentioned that to him. He said, "Aisha said, 'Allah forbid! By Allah, Allah never promised His Apostle anything but he knew that it would certainly happen before he died. But trials were continuously presented before the Apostles till they were afraid that their followers would accuse them of telling lies. So I used to recite:-- "Till they (come to) think that they were treated as liars." reading 'Kudh-dhibu with double 'dh.'

اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ ← كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ← أَنَسٍ، ← عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ، ← عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ ← أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ،

حَدَّثَنَا قَبِيصَةُ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْکَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ تَرْفَعُهُ قَالَ أَبْغَضُ الرِّجَالِ إِلَی اللَّهِ الْأَلَدُّ الْخَصِمُ

أَبْغَضُ الرِّجَالِ إِلَی اللَّهِ الْأَلَدُّ الْخَصِمُ ← عَائِشَةَ تَرْفَعُهُ، ← ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْکَةَ ← ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، ← سُفْيَانَ، ← قَبِيصَةُ،

حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَی أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي مُلَيْکَةَ يَقُولُ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا حَتَّی إِذَا اسْتَيْأَسَ الرُّسُلُ وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ کُذِبُوا خَفِيفَةً ذَهَبَ بِهَا هُنَاکَ وَتَلَا حَتَّی يَقُولَ الرَّسُولُ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَهُ مَتَی نَصْرُ اللَّهِ أَلَا إِنَّ نَصْرَ اللَّهِ قَرِيبٌ فَلَقِيتُ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ فَذَکَرْتُ لَهُ ذَلِکَ فَقَالَ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ مَعَاذَ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهِ مَا وَعَدَ اللَّهُ رَسُولَهُ مِنْ شَيْئٍ قَطُّ إِلَّا عَلِمَ أَنَّهُ کَائِنٌ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَمُوتَ وَلَکِنْ لَمْ يَزَلْ الْبَلَائُ بِالرُّسُلِ حَتَّی خَافُوا أَنْ يَکُونَ مَنْ مَعَهُمْ يُکَذِّبُونَهُمْ فَکَانَتْ تَقْرَؤُهَا وَظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ کُذِّبُوا مُثَقَّلَةً

Narrated Nafi`: Whenever Ibn `Umar recited the Qur'an, he would not speak to anyone till he had finished his recitation. Once I held the Qur'an and he recited Surat-al-Baqara from his memory and then stopped at a certain Verse and said, "Do you know in what connection this Verse was revealed? " I replied, "No." He said, "It was revealed in such-and-such connection." Ibn `Umar then resumed his recitation. Nafi` added regarding the Verse:--"So go to your tilth when or how you will" Ibn `Umar said, "It means one should approach his wife in .."
