حَدَّثَنَا حَامِدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ أَنَّ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِکٍ قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّی يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ ثُمَّ خَطَبَ فَأَمَرَ مَنْ ذَبَحَ قَبْلَ الصَّلَاةِ أَنْ يُعِيدَ ذَبْحَهُ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ جِيرَانٌ لِي إِمَّا قَالَ بِهِمْ خَصَاصَةٌ وَإِمَّا قَالَ بِهِمْ فَقْرٌ وَإِنِّي ذَبَحْتُ قَبْلَ الصَّلَاةِ وَعِنْدِي عَنَاقٌ لِي أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ شَاتَيْ لَحْمٍ فَرَخَّصَ لَهُ فِيهَا

Narrated Anas bin Malik: Allah's Apostle offered the prayer on the day of Nahr and then delivered the Khutba and ordered that whoever had slaughtered his sacrifice before the prayer should repeat it, that is, should slaughter another sacrifice. Then a person from the Ansar stood up and said, "O Allah's Apostle! because of my neighbors (he described them as being very needy or poor) I slaughtered before the prayer. I have a young she-goat which, in my opinion, is better than two sheep." The Prophet gave him the permission for slaughtering it as a sacrifice.

مُحَمَّدٍ أَنَّ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِکٍ ← أَيُّوبَ، ← حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ← حَامِدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ،

حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ جُنْدَبٍ قَالَ صَلَّى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ ثُمَّ خَطَبَ ثُمَّ ذَبَحَ فَقَالَ مَنْ ذَبَحَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ فَلْيَذْبَحْ أُخْرَى مَكَانَهَا وَمَنْ لَمْ يَذْبَحْ فَلْيَذْبَحْ بِاسْمِ اللَّهِ

Narrated Jundab: On the day of Nahr the Prophet offered the prayer and delivered the Khutba and then slaughtered the sacrifice and said, "Anybody who slaughtered (his sacrifice) before the prayer should slaughter another animal in lieu of it, and the one who has not yet slaughtered should slaughter the sacrifice mentioning Allah's name on it."

صَلَّى النَّبِيُّ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ ثُمَّ خَطَبَ ثُمَّ ذَبَحَ ← جُنْدُبٍ ← الْأَسْوَدِ، ← شُعْبَةُ، ← مُّسْلِمٍ

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ هُوَ ابْنُ سَلَامٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو تُمَيْلَةَ يَحْيَى بْنُ وَاضِحٍ عَنْ فُلَيْحِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ عِيدٍ خَالَفَ الطَّرِيقَ تَابَعَهُ يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ فُلَيْحٍ وَقَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّلْتِ عَنْ فُلَيْحٍ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَحَدِيثُ جَابِرٍ أَصَحُّ

Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah: On the Day of `Id the Prophet used to return (after offering the `Id prayer) through a way different from that by which he went.

أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَحَدِيثُ جَابِرٍ أَصَحُّ ← سَعِيدٌ، ← فُلَيْحٌ، ← فُلَيْحٍ وَقَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّلْتِ ← كَانَ النَّبِيُّ إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ عِيدٍ خَالَفَ الطَّرِيقَ تَابَعَهُ يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ← جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: ← سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، ← فُلَيْحُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، ← أَبُو تُمَيْلَةَ يَحْيَى بْنُ وَاضِحٍ، ← مُحَمَّدٌ هُوَ ابْنُ سَلَامٍ

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ بُکَيْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ أَبَا بَکْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا وَعِنْدَهَا جَارِيَتَانِ فِي أَيَّامِ مِنَی تُدَفِّفَانِ وَتَضْرِبَانِ وَالنَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُتَغَشٍّ بِثَوْبِهِ فَانْتَهَرَهُمَا أَبُو بَکْرٍ فَکَشَفَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ فَقَالَ دَعْهُمَا يَا أَبَا بَکْرٍ فَإِنَّهَا أَيَّامُ عِيدٍ وَتِلْکَ الْأَيَّامُ أَيَّامُ مِنًی وَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْتُرُنِي وَأَنَا أَنْظُرُ إِلَی الْحَبَشَةِ وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَزَجَرَهُمْ عُمَرُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَعْهُمْ أَمْنًا بَنِي أَرْفِدَةَ يَعْنِي مِنْ الْأَمْنِ

Narrated `Urwa on the authority of `Aisha: On the days of Mina, (11th, 12th, and 13th of Dhul-Hijjah) Abu Bakr came to her while two young girls were beating the tambourine and the Prophet was lying covered with his clothes. Abu Bakr scolded them and the Prophet uncovered his face and said to Abu Bakr, "Leave them, for these days are the days of `Id and the days of Mina."

عَائِشَةَ ← عُرْوَةَ ← ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، ← عَقِیلٍ ← اللَّيْثُ ← يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ،

وَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْتُرُنِي وَأَنَا أَنْظُرُ إِلَى الْحَبَشَةِ وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَزَجَرَهُمْ عُمَرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ دَعْهُمْ أَمْنًا بَنِي أَرْفِدَةَ يَعْنِي مِنَ الْأَمْنِ".

`Aisha further said, "Once the Prophet was screening me and I was watching the display of black slaves in the Mosque and (`Umar) scolded them. The Prophet said, 'Leave them. O Bani Arfida! (carry on), you are safe (protected)'."

النَّبِيُّ دَعْهُمْ أَمْنًا بَنِي أَرْفِدَةَ يَعْنِي مِنَ الْأَمْنِ". ← أَنْظُرُ إِلَى الْحَبَشَةِ وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَزَجَرَهُمْ عُمَرُ، ← عَائِشَةُ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ يَسْتُرُنِي

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَدِيُّ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ يَوْمَ الْفِطْرِ فَصَلَّی رَکْعَتَيْنِ لَمْ يُصَلِّ قَبْلَهَا وَلَا بَعْدَهَا وَمَعَهُ بِلَالٌ

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The Prophet went out and offered a two rak`at prayer on the Day of `Id ul Fitr and did not offer any other prayer before or after it and at that time Bilal was accompanying him.

ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ← عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ← شُعْبَةُ، ← أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ،

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِکٌ عَنْ نَافِعٍ وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَی مَثْنَی فَإِذَا خَشِيَ أَحَدُکُمْ الصُّبْحَ صَلَّی رَکْعَةً وَاحِدَةً تُوتِرُ لَهُ مَا قَدْ صَلَّی وَعَنْ نَافِعٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ کَانَ يُسَلِّمُ بَيْنَ الرَّکْعَةِ وَالرَّکْعَتَيْنِ فِي الْوِتْرِ حَتَّی يَأْمُرَ بِبَعْضِ حَاجَتِهِ

Narrated Ibn Umar: Once a person asked Allah's Apostle about the night prayer. Allah's Apostle replied, "The night prayer is offered as two Rakat followed by two Rakat and so on and if anyone is afraid of the approaching dawn (Fajr prayer) he should pray one Raka and this will be a Witr for all the Rakat which he has prayed before."

صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ ← ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ← نَافِعٍ، وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، ← مَالِكٍ، ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ،

اور عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے کہا میں نے (ایک دفعہ) نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو دیکھا کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھے چھپا رکھا تھا اور میں حبشہ کے لوگوں کو دیکھ رہی تھی جو مسجد میں تیروں سے کھیل رہے تھے۔ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے انہیں ڈانٹا لیکن نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ جانے دو اور ان سے فرمایا اے بنوارفدہ! تم بےفکر ہو کر کھیل دکھاؤ۔

Nafi' told that 'Abdullah bin 'Umar used to say Taslim between (the first) two Rakat and (the third) odd one in the Witr prayer, when he wanted to attend to a certain matter (during that interval between the Rakat).

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ عَنْ مَالِکِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ عَنْ مَخْرَمَةَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ کُرَيْبٍ أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ بَاتَ عِنْدَ مَيْمُونَةَ وَهِيَ خَالَتُهُ فَاضْطَجَعْتُ فِي عَرْضِ وِسَادَةٍ وَاضْطَجَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَهْلُهُ فِي طُولِهَا فَنَامَ حَتَّی انْتَصَفَ اللَّيْلُ أَوْ قَرِيبًا مِنْهُ فَاسْتَيْقَظَ يَمْسَحُ النَّوْمَ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ عَشْرَ آيَاتٍ مِنْ آلِ عِمْرَانَ ثُمَّ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَی شَنٍّ مُعَلَّقَةٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ فَأَحْسَنَ الْوُضُوئَ ثُمَّ قَامَ يُصَلِّي فَصَنَعْتُ مِثْلَهُ فَقُمْتُ إِلَی جَنْبهِ فَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَی عَلَی رَأْسِي وَأَخَذَ بِأُذُنِي يَفْتِلُهَا ثُمَّ صَلَّی رَکْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ رَکْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ رَکْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ رَکْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ رَکْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ رَکْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ أَوْتَرَ ثُمَّ اضْطَجَعَ حَتَّی جَائَهُ الْمُؤَذِّنُ فَقَامَ فَصَلَّی رَکْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَصَلَّی الصُّبْحَ

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Once I passed the night in the house of Maimuna (his aunt). I slept across the bed while Allah's Apostle and his wife slept length-wise. The Prophet slept till midnight or nearly so and woke up rubbing his face and recited ten verses from Surat "Al-`Imran." Allah's Apostle went towards a leather skin and performed ablution in the most perfect way and then stood for the prayer. I did the same and stood beside him. The Prophet put his right hand on my head, twisted my ear and then prayed two rak`at five times and then ended his prayer with witr. He laid down till the Mu'adh-dhin came then he stood up and offered two rak`at (Sunna of Fajr prayer) and then went out and offered the Fajr prayer. (See Hadith No. 183, Vol. 1)

كريب أن ابن عباس ← مَخْرَمَةَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ، ← مالک بن أنس ← عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ،

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ الْقَاسِمِ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَی مَثْنَی فَإِذَا أَرَدْتَ أَنْ تَنْصَرِفَ فَارْکَعْ رَکْعَةً تُوتِرُ لَکَ مَا صَلَّيْتَ قَالَ الْقَاسِمُ وَرَأَيْنَا أُنَاسًا مُنْذُ أَدْرَکْنَا يُوتِرُونَ بِثَلَاثٍ وَإِنَّ کُلًّا لَوَاسِعٌ أَرْجُو أَنْ لَا يَکُونَ بِشَيْئٍ مِنْهُ بَأْسٌ

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: The Prophet said, "Night prayer is offered as two rak`at followed by two rak`at and so on, and if you want to finish it, pray only one rak`a which will be witr for all the previous rak`at." Al-Qasim said, "Since we attained the age of puberty we have seen some people offering a three-rak`at prayer as witr and all that is permissible. I hope there will be no harm in it."

عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ← أَبِيهِ ← عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ؛ أَنَّ عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ الْقَاسِمِ، ← عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ ← يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عُرْوَةُ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ کَانَ يُصَلِّي إِحْدَی عَشْرَةَ رَکْعَةً کَانَتْ تِلْکَ صَلَاتَهُ تَعْنِي بِاللَّيْلِ فَيَسْجُدُ السَّجْدَةَ مِنْ ذَلِکَ قَدْرَ مَا يَقْرَأُ أَحَدُکُمْ خَمْسِينَ آيَةً قَبْلَ أَنْ يَرْفَعَ رَأْسَهُ وَيَرْکَعُ رَکْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ ثُمَّ يَضْطَجِعُ عَلَی شِقِّهِ الْأَيْمَنِ حَتَّی يَأْتِيَهُ الْمُؤَذِّنُ لِلصَّلَاةِ

Narrated `Aisha: Allah's Apostle used to pray eleven rak`at at night and that was his night prayer and each of his prostrations lasted for a period enough for one of you to recite fifty verses before Allah's Apostle raised his head. He also used to pray two rak`at (Sunna) before the (compulsory) Fajr prayer and then lie down on his right side till the Mu'adh-dhin came to him for the prayer.

عُرْوَةُ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ ← الزُّهْرِيِّ، ← شُعَيْبٌ، ← أَبُو الْيَمَانِ،

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ سِيرِينَ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ أَرَأَيْتَ الرَّکْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ أُطِيلُ فِيهِمَا الْقِرَائَةَ فَقَالَ کَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي مِنْ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَی مَثْنَی وَيُوتِرُ بِرَکْعَةٍ وَيُصَلِّي الرَّکْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ صَلَاةِ الْغَدَاةِ وَکَأَنَّ الْأَذَانَ بِأُذُنَيْهِ قَالَ حَمَّادٌ أَيْ بسُرْعَةً

Narrated Anas bin Seereen: I asked Ibn `Umar, "What is your opinion about the two rak`at before the Fajr (compulsory) prayer, as to prolonging the recitation in them?" He said, "The Prophet (p.b.u.h) used to pray at night two rak`at followed by two and so on, and end the prayer by one rak`a witr. He used to offer two rak`at before the Fajr prayer immediately after the Adhan." (Hammad, the sub-narrator said, "That meant (that he prayed) quickly.)"
