حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مُسْلِمٌ عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ کُلَّ اللَّيْلِ أَوْتَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَانْتَهَی وِتْرُهُ إِلَی السَّحَرِ

Narrated `Aisha: Allah's Apostle offered witr prayer at different nights at various hours extending (from the `Isha' prayer) up to the last hour of the night.

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ کَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي وَأَنَا رَاقِدَةٌ مُعْتَرِضَةً عَلَی فِرَاشِهِ فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُوتِرَ أَيْقَظَنِي فَأَوْتَرْتُ

Narrated `Aisha: The Prophet (p.b.u.h) used to offer his night prayer while I was sleeping across in his bed. Whenever he intended to offer the witr prayer, he used to wake me up and I would offer the witr prayer too.

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: The Prophet (p.b.u.h) said, "Make witr as your last prayer at night."

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِکٌ عَنْ أَبِي بَکْرِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الخَطَّابِ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ کُنْتُ أَسِيرُ مَعَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بِطَرِيقِ مَکَّةَ فَقَالَ سَعِيدٌ فَلَمَّا خَشِيتُ الصُّبْحَ نَزَلْتُ فَأَوْتَرْتُ ثُمَّ لَحِقْتُهُ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ أَيْنَ کُنْتَ فَقُلْتُ خَشِيتُ الصُّبْحَ فَنَزَلْتُ فَأَوْتَرْتُ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَلَيْسَ لَکَ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ فَقُلْتُ بَلَی وَاللَّهِ قَالَ فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ کَانَ يُوتِرُ عَلَی الْبَعِيرِ

Narrated Sa`id bin Yasar: I was going to Mecca in the company of `Abdullah bin `Umar and when I apprehended the approaching dawn, I dismounted and offered the witr prayer and then joined him. `Abdullah bin `Umar said, "Where have you been?" I replied, "I apprehended the approaching dawn so I dismounted and prayed the witr prayer." `Abdullah said, "Isn't it sufficient for you to follow the good example of Allah's Apostle?" I replied, "Yes, by Allah." He said, "Allah's Apostle used to pray witr on the back of the camel (while on a journey)."

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَی بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جُوَيْرِيَةُ بْنُ أَسْمَائَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ کَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي فِي السَّفَرِ عَلَی رَاحِلَتِهِ حَيْثُ تَوَجَّهَتْ بِهِ يُومِئُ إِيمَائً صَلَاةَ اللَّيْلِ إِلَّا الْفَرَائِضَ وَيُوتِرُ عَلَی رَاحِلَتِهِ

Narrated Ibn `Umar: The Prophet used to offer (Nawafil) prayers on his Rahila (mount) facing its direction by signals, but not the compulsory prayer. He also used to pray witr on his (mount) Rahila.

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ قَالَ سُئِلَ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِکٍ أَقَنَتَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الصُّبْحِ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَقِيلَ لَهُ أَوَقَنَتَ قَبْلَ الرُّکُوعِ قَالَ بَعْدَ الرُّکُوعِ يَسِيرًا

Narrated Muhammad bin Seereen: Anas was asked, "Did the Prophet recite Qunut in the Fajr prayer?" Anas replied in the affirmative. He was further asked, "Did he recite Qunut before bowing?" Anas replied, "He recited Qunut after bowing for some time (for one month)."

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِکٍ عَنْ الْقُنُوتِ فَقَالَ قَدْ کَانَ الْقُنُوتُ قُلْتُ قَبْلَ الرُّکُوعِ أَوْ بَعْدَهُ قَالَ قَبْلَهُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ فُلَانًا أَخْبَرَنِي عَنْکَ أَنَّکَ قُلْتَ بَعْدَ الرُّکُوعِ فَقَالَ کَذَبَ إِنَّمَا قَنَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْدَ الرُّکُوعِ شَهْرًا أُرَاهُ کَانَ بَعَثَ قَوْمًا يُقَالُ لَهُمْ الْقُرَّائُ زُهَائَ سَبْعِينَ رَجُلًا إِلَی قَوْمٍ مِنْ الْمُشْرِکِينَ دُونَ أُولَئِکَ وَکَانَ بَيْنَهُمْ وَبَيْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَهْدٌ فَقَنَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَهْرًا يَدْعُو عَلَيْهِمْ

Narrated `Asim: I asked Anas bin Malik about the Qunut. Anas replied, "Definitely it was (recited)". I asked, "Before bowing or after it?" Anas replied, "Before bowing." I added, "So and so has told me that you had informed him that it had been after bowing." Anas said, "He told an untruth (i.e. "was mistaken," according to the Hijazi dialect). Allah's Apostle recited Qunut after bowing for a period of one month." Anas added, "The Prophet sent about seventy men (who knew the Qur'an by heart) towards the pagans (of Najd) who were less than they in number and there was a peace treaty between them and Allah's Apostles (but the Pagans broke the treaty and killed the seventy men). So Allah's Apostle recited Qunut for a period of one month asking Allah to punish them."

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet recited Qunut for one month (in the Fajr prayer) asking Allah to punish the tribes of Ral and Dhakwan.

Narrated `Abbas bin Tamim's uncle: The Prophet (p.b.u.h) went out to offer the Istisqa' prayer and turned (and put on) his cloak inside out.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا مُغِيرَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ کَانَ إِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنْ الرَّکْعَةِ الْآخِرَةِ يَقُولُ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْجِ عَيَّاشَ بْنَ أَبِي رَبِيعَةَ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْجِ سَلَمَةَ بْنَ هِشَامٍ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْجِ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْجِ الْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنْ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ اللَّهُمَّ اشْدُدْ وَطْأَتَکَ عَلَی مُضَرَ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهَا سِنِينَ کَسِنِي يُوسُفَ وَأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ غِفَارُ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهَا وَأَسْلَمُ سَالَمَهَا اللَّهُ قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ هَذَا کُلُّهُ فِي الصُّبْحِ

Narrated Abu Huraira;: Whenever the Prophet (p.b.u.h) lifted his head from the bowing in the last rak`a he used to say: "O Allah! Save `Aiyash bin Abi Rabi`a. O Allah! Save Salama bin Hisham. O Allah! Save Walid bin Walid. O Allah! Save the weak faithful believers. O Allah! Be hard on the tribes of Mudar and send (famine) years on them like the famine years of (Prophet) Joseph ." The Prophet further said, "Allah forgive the tribes of Ghifar and save the tribes of Aslam." Abu Az-Zinad (a sub-narrator) said, "The Qunut used to be recited by the Prophet in the Fajr prayer."

حدثناالحميدي قال حدثنا سفيان عن الأعمش عن أبی الضحی عن مسروق عن عبد الله ح حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ أَبِي الضُّحَی عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ قَالَ کُنَّا عِنْدَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا رَأَی مِنْ النَّاسِ إِدْبَارًا قَالَ اللَّهُمَّ سَبْعٌ کَسَبْعِ يُوسُفَ فَأَخَذَتْهُمْ سَنَةٌ حَصَّتْ کُلَّ شَيْئٍ حَتَّی أَکَلُوا الْجُلُودَ وَالْمَيْتَةَ وَالْجِيَفَ وَيَنْظُرَ أَحَدُهُمْ إِلَی السَّمَائِ فَيَرَی الدُّخَانَ مِنْ الْجُوعِ فَأَتَاهُ أَبُو سُفْيَانَ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ إِنَّکَ تَأْمُرُ بِطَاعَةِ اللَّهِ وَبِصِلَةِ الرَّحِمِ وَإِنَّ قَوْمَکَ قَدْ هَلَکُوا فَادْعُ اللَّهَ لَهُمْ قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَی فَارْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِي السَّمَائُ بِدُخَانٍ مُبِينٍ إِلَی قَوْلِهِ إِنَّکُمْ عَائِدُونَ يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ الْبَطْشَةَ الْکُبْرَی إِنَّا مُنْتَقِمُونَ فَالْبَطْشَةُ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ وَقَدْ مَضَتْ الدُّخَانُ وَالْبَطْشَةُ وَاللِّزَامُ وَآيَةُ الرُّومِ

Narrated Masruq: We were with `Abdullah and he said, "When the Prophet saw the refusal of the people to accept Islam he said, "O Allah! Send (famine) years on them for (seven years) like the seven years (of famine during the time) of (Prophet) Joseph." So famine overtook them for one year and destroyed every kind of life to such an extent that the people started eating hides, carcasses and rotten dead animals. Whenever one of them looked towards the sky, he would (imagine himself to) see smoke because of hunger. So Abu Sufyan went to the Prophet and said, "O Muhammad! You order people to obey Allah and to keep good relations with kith and kin. No doubt the people of your tribe are dying, so please pray to Allah for them." So Allah revealed: "Then watch you For the day that The sky will bring forth a kind Of smoke Plainly visible ... Verily! You will return (to disbelief) On the day when We shall seize You with a mighty grasp. (44.10-16) Ibn Mas`ud added, "Al-Batsha (i.e. grasp) happened in the battle of Badr and no doubt smoke, Al-Batsha, Al-Lizam, and the verse of Surat Ar-Rum have all passed .
