حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ الرَّحِمَ شَجْنَةٌ مِنْ الرَّحْمَنِ فَقَالَ اللَّهُ مَنْ وَصَلَکِ وَصَلْتُهُ وَمَنْ قَطَعَکِ قَطَعْتُهُ

Narrated `Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) The Prophet said, "The word 'Ar-Rahm' (womb) derives its name from 'Ar- Rahman' (i.e. Allah). So whosoever keeps good relations with it (womb i.e. Kith and kin), Allah will keep good relations with him, and whosoever will sever it (i.e. severs his bonds of Kith and kin) Allah too will sever His relations with him.

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ أَبِي مُزَرِّدٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ رُومَانَ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الرَّحِمُ شِجْنَةٌ فَمَنْ وَصَلَهَا وَصَلْتُهُ وَمَنْ قَطَعَهَا قَطَعْتُهُ

Narrated `Amr bin Al-`As: I heard the Prophet saying openly not secretly, "The family of Abu so-and-so (i.e. Talib) are not among my protectors." `Amr said that there was a blank space (1) in the Book of Muhammad bin Ja`far. He added, "My Protector is Allah and the righteous believing people." `Amr bin Al-`As added: I heard the Prophet saying, 'But they (that family) have kinship (Rahm) with me and I will be good and dutiful to them. "

حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ أَنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جِهَارًا غَيْرَ سِرٍّ يَقُولُ إِنَّ آلَ أَبِي قَالَ عَمْرٌو فِي کِتَابِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ بَيَاضٌ لَيْسُوا بِأَوْلِيَائِي إِنَّمَا وَلِيِّيَ اللَّهُ وَصَالِحُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ زَادَ عَنْبَسَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ عَنْ بَيَانٍ عَنْ قَيْسٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَکِنْ لَهُمْ رَحِمٌ أَبُلُّهَا بِبَلَاهَا يَعْنِي أَصِلُهَا بِصِلَتِهَا قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد اللَّهِ بِبَلَاهَا کَذَا وَقَعَ وَبِبَلَالِهَا أَجْوَدُ وَأَصَحُّ وَبِبَلَاهَا لَا أَعْرِفُ لَهُ وَجْهًا

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Amr: The Prophet said, "Al-Wasil is not the one who recompenses the good done to him by his relatives, but Al-Wasil is the one who keeps good relations with those relatives who had severed the bond of kinship with him."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ کَثِيرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ وَالْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو وَفِطْرٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ سُفْيَانُ لَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ الْأَعْمَشُ إِلَی النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَرَفَعَهُ حَسَنٌ وَفِطْرٌ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَيْسَ الْوَاصِلُ بِالْمُکَافِئِ وَلَکِنْ الْوَاصِلُ الَّذِي إِذَا قُطِعَتْ رَحِمُهُ وَصَلَهَا

Narrated Hakim bin Hizam: That he said, "O Allah's Apostle! What do you think about my good deeds which I used to do during the period of ignorance (before embracing Islam) like keeping good relations with my Kith and kin, manumitting of slaves and giving alms etc; Shall I receive the reward for that?" Allah's Apostle said, "You have embraced Islam with all those good deeds which you did.

لَيْسَ الْوَاصِلُ بِالْمُكَافِئِ، وَلَكِنَّ الْوَاصِلَ الَّذِي إِذَا قُطِعَتْ رَحِمُهُ وَصَلَهَا‏.‏ ← النَّبِيِّ ← سُفْيَانُ لَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ الْأَعْمَشُ إِلَی النَّبِيِّ وَرَفَعَهُ حَسَنٌ وَفِطْرٌ ← عَبْدِ اللہِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ← مُجَاهِدٍ ← الأَعْمَشِ، وَالْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، وَفِطْرٍ، ← سُفْيَانَ، ← مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ،

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّ حَکِيمَ بْنَ حِزَامٍ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَأَيْتَ أُمُورًا کُنْتُ أَتَحَنَّثُ بِهَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ مِنْ صِلَةٍ وَعَتَاقَةٍ وَصَدَقَةٍ هَلْ لِي فِيهَا مِنْ أَجْرٍ قَالَ حَکِيمٌ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَسْلَمْتَ عَلَی مَا سَلَفَ مِنْ خَيْرٍ وَيُقَالُ أَيْضًا عَنْ أَبِي الْيَمَانِ أَتَحَنَّثُ وَقَالَ مَعْمَرٌ وَصَالِحٌ وَابْنُ الْمُسَافِرِ أَتَحَنَّثُ وَقَالَ ابْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التَّحَنُّثُ التَّبَرُّرُ وَتَابَعَهُمْ هِشَامٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

Narrated Sa`id: Um Khalid bint Khalid bin Sa`id said, "I came to Allah's Apostle along with my father and I was wearing a yellow shirt. Allah's Apostle said, "Sanah Sanah!" (`Abdullah, the sub-narrator said, "It means, 'Nice, nice!' in the Ethiopian language.") Um Khalid added, "Then I started playing with the seal of Prophethood. My father admonished me. But Allah's Apostle said (to my father), "Leave her," Allah's Apostle (then addressing me) said, "May you live so long that your dress gets worn out, and you will mend it many times, and then wear another till it gets worn out (i.e. May Allah prolong your life)." (The sub-narrator, `Abdullah aid, "That garment (which she was wearing remained usable for a long period.").

حَدَّثَنَا حِبَّانُ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أُمِّ خَالِدٍ بِنْتِ خَالِدِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ قَالَتْ أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَعَ أَبِي وَعَلَيَّ قَمِيصٌ أَصْفَرُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَنَهْ سَنَهْ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ وَهِيَ بِالْحَبَشِيَّةِ حَسَنَةٌ قَالَتْ فَذَهَبْتُ أَلْعَبُ بِخَاتَمِ النُّبُوَّةِ فَزَبَرَنِي أَبِي قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَعْهَا ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَبْلِي وَأَخْلِقِي ثُمَّ أَبْلِي وَأَخْلِقِي ثُمَّ أَبْلِي وَأَخْلِقِي قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ فَبَقِيَتْ حَتَّی ذَکَرَ

Narrated Ibn Abi Na'm: I was present when a man asked Ibn `Umar about the blood of mosquitoes. Ibn `Umar said, "From where are you?" The man replied. "From Iraq." Ibn `Umar said, "Look at that! he is asking me about the blood of Mosquitoes while they (the Iraqis ) have killed the (grand) son of the Prophet. I have heard the Prophet saying, "They (Hasan and Husain) are my two sweet-smelling flowers in this world."

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَی بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا مَهْدِيٌّ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي يَعْقُوبَ عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي نُعْمٍ قَالَ کُنْتُ شَاهِدًا لِابْنِ عُمَرَ وَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ عَنْ دَمِ الْبَعُوضِ فَقَالَ مِمَّنْ أَنْتَ فَقَالَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ قَالَ انْظُرُوا إِلَی هَذَا يَسْأَلُنِي عَنْ دَمِ الْبَعُوضِ وَقَدْ قَتَلُوا ابْنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَسَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ هُمَا رَيْحَانَتَايَ مِنْ الدُّنْيَا

Narrated `Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) A lady along with her two daughters came to me asking me (for some alms), but she found nothing with me except one date which I gave to her and she divided it between her two daughters, and then she got up and went away. Then the Prophet came in and I informed him about this story. He said, "Whoever is in charge of (put to test by) these daughters and treats them generously, then they will act as a shield for him from the (Hell) Fire."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَی بْنُ حَمَّادٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ أَنَّ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِکٍ حَدَّثَهُمْ أَنَّ نَاسًا أَوْ رِجَالًا مِنْ عُکْلٍ وَعُرَيْنَةَ قَدِمُوا عَلَی رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَتَکَلَّمُوا بِالْإِسْلَامِ وَقَالُوا يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ إِنَّا کُنَّا أَهْلَ ضَرْعٍ وَلَمْ نَکُنْ أَهْلَ رِيفٍ وَاسْتَوْخَمُوا الْمَدِينَةَ فَأَمَرَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِذَوْدٍ وَبِرَاعٍ وَأَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يَخْرُجُوا فِيهِ فَيَشْرَبُوا مِنْ أَلْبَانِهَا وَأَبْوَالِهَا فَانْطَلَقُوا حَتَّی کَانُوا نَاحِيَةَ الْحَرَّةِ کَفَرُوا بَعْدَ إِسْلَامِهِمْ وَقَتَلُوا رَاعِيَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاسْتَاقُوا الذَّوْدَ فَبَلَغَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَبَعَثَ الطَّلَبَ فِي آثَارِهِمْ وَأَمَرَ بِهِمْ فَسَمَرُوا أَعْيُنَهُمْ وَقَطَعُوا أَيْدِيَهُمْ وَتُرِکُوا فِي نَاحِيَةِ الْحَرَّةِ حَتَّی مَاتُوا عَلَی حَالِهِمْ

Narrated Saud: The Prophet said, "If you hear of an outbreak of plague in a land, do not enter it; but if the plague breaks out in a place while you are in it, do not leave that place."

حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي حَبِيبُ بْنُ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أُسَامَةَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ يُحَدِّثُ سَعْدًا عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِالطَّاعُونِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَدْخُلُوهَا وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا مِنْهَا فَقُلْتُ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ يُحَدِّثُ سَعْدًا وَلَا يُنْکِرُهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Abbas: `Umar bin Al-Khattab departed for Sham and when he reached Sargh, the commanders of the (Muslim) army, Abu 'Ubaida bin Al-Jarrah and his companions met him and told him that an epidemic had broken out in Sham. `Umar said, "Call for me the early emigrants." So `Umar called them, consulted them and informed them that an epidemic had broken out in Sham. Those people differed in their opinions. Some of them said, "We have come out for a purpose and we do not think that it is proper to give it up," while others said (to `Umar), "You have along with you. other people and the companions of Allah's Apostle so do not advise that we take them to this epidemic." `Umar said to them, "Leave me now." Then he said, "Call the Ansar for me." I called them and he consulted them and they followed the way of the emigrants and differed as they did. He then said to them, Leave me now," and added, "Call for me the old people of Quraish who emigrated in the year of the Conquest of Mecca." I called them and they gave a unanimous opinion saying, "We advise that you should return with the people and do not take them to that (place) of epidemic." So `Umar made an announcement, "I will ride back to Medina in the morning, so you should do the same." Abu 'Ubaida bin Al-Jarrah said (to `Umar), "Are you running away from what Allah had ordained?" `Umar said, "Would that someone else had said such a thing, O Abu 'Ubaida! Yes, we are running from what Allah had ordained to what Allah has ordained. Don't you agree that if you had camels that went down a valley having two places, one green and the other dry, you would graze them on the green one only if Allah had ordained that, and you would graze them on the dry one only if Allah had ordained that?" At that time `Abdur-Rahman bin `Auf, who had been absent because of some job, came and said, "I have some knowledge about this. I have heard Allah's Apostle saying, 'If you hear about it (an outbreak of plague) in a land, do not go to it; but if plague breaks out in a country where you are staying, do not run away from it.' " `Umar thanked Allah and returned to Medina.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِکٌ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الحَارِثِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ خَرَجَ إِلَی الشَّأْمِ حَتَّی إِذَا کَانَ بِسَرْغَ لَقِيَهُ أُمَرَائُ الْأَجْنَادِ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ وَأَصْحَابُهُ فَأَخْبَرُوهُ أَنَّ الْوَبَائَ قَدْ وَقَعَ بِأَرْضِ الشَّأْمِ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ ادْعُ لِي الْمُهَاجِرِينَ الْأَوَّلِينَ فَدَعَاهُمْ فَاسْتَشَارَهُمْ وَأَخْبَرَهُمْ أَنَّ الْوَبَائَ قَدْ وَقَعَ بِالشَّأْمِ فَاخْتَلَفُوا فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ قَدْ خَرَجْتَ لِأَمْرٍ وَلَا نَرَی أَنْ تَرْجِعَ عَنْهُ وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ مَعَکَ بَقِيَّةُ النَّاسِ وَأَصْحَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَا نَرَی أَنْ تُقْدِمَهُمْ عَلَی هَذَا الْوَبَائِ فَقَالَ ارْتَفِعُوا عَنِّي ثُمَّ قَالَ ادْعُوا لِي الْأَنْصَارَ فَدَعَوْتُهُمْ فَاسْتَشَارَهُمْ فَسَلَکُوا سَبِيلَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَاخْتَلَفُوا کَاخْتِلَافِهِمْ فَقَالَ ارْتَفِعُوا عَنِّي ثُمَّ قَالَ ادْعُ لِي مَنْ کَانَ هَا هُنَا مِنْ مَشْيَخَةِ قُرَيْشٍ مِنْ مُهَاجِرَةِ الْفَتْحِ فَدَعَوْتُهُمْ فَلَمْ يَخْتَلِفْ مِنْهُمْ عَلَيْهِ رَجُلَانِ فَقَالُوا نَرَی أَنْ تَرْجِعَ بِالنَّاسِ وَلَا تُقْدِمَهُمْ عَلَی هَذَا الْوَبَائِ فَنَادَی عُمَرُ فِي النَّاسِ إِنِّي مُصَبِّحٌ عَلَی ظَهْرٍ فَأَصْبِحُوا عَلَيْهِ قَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ أَفِرَارًا مِنْ قَدَرِ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ لَوْ غَيْرُکَ قَالَهَا يَا أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ نَعَمْ نَفِرُّ مِنْ قَدَرِ اللَّهِ إِلَی قَدَرِ اللَّهِ أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ کَانَ لَکَ إِبِلٌ هَبَطَتْ وَادِيًا لَهُ عُدْوَتَانِ إِحْدَاهُمَا خَصِبَةٌ وَالْأُخْرَی جَدْبَةٌ أَلَيْسَ إِنْ رَعَيْتَ الْخَصْبَةَ رَعَيْتَهَا بِقَدَرِ اللَّهِ وَإِنْ رَعَيْتَ الْجَدْبَةَ رَعَيْتَهَا بِقَدَرِ اللَّهِ قَالَ فَجَائَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ وَکَانَ مُتَغَيِّبًا فِي بَعْضِ حَاجَتِهِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ عِنْدِي فِي هَذَا عِلْمًا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَقْدَمُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ قَالَ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ عُمَرُ ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ

Narrated `Abdullah bin 'Amir: `Umar went to Sham and when h ached Sargh, he got the news that an epidemic (of plague) had broken out in Sham. `Abdur-Rahman bin `Auf told him that Allah's Apostle said, "If you hear that it (plague) has broken out in a land, do not go to it; but if it breaks out in a land where you are present, do not go out escaping from it."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِکٌ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ أَنَّ عُمَرَ خَرَجَ إِلَی الشَّأْمِ فَلَمَّا کَانَ بِسَرْغَ بَلَغَهُ أَنَّ الْوَبَائَ قَدْ وَقَعَ بِالشَّأْمِ فَأَخْبَرَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ بِأَرْضٍ فَلَا تَقْدَمُوا عَلَيْهِ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Neither Messiah (Ad-Dajjal) nor plague will enter Medina."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِکٌ عَنْ نُعَيْمٍ الْمُجْمِرِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَدْخُلُ الْمَدِينَةَ المَسِيحُ وَلَا الطَّاعُونُ

Narrated Anas bin Malik: Allah's Apostle said, "(Death from) plague is martyrdom for every Muslim."
