حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدٌ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَی عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنْ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ أَبِي بَکْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ خَسَفَتْ الشَّمْسُ وَنَحْنُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَامَ يَجُرُّ ثَوْبَهُ مُسْتَعْجِلًا حَتَّی أَتَی الْمَسْجِدَ وَثَابَ النَّاسُ فَصَلَّی رَکْعَتَيْنِ فَجُلِّيَ عَنْهَا ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا وَقَالَ إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ مِنْهَا شَيْئًا فَصَلُّوا وَادْعُوا اللَّهَ حَتَّی يَکْشِفَهَا

Narrated Abu Juhaifa: I saw Bilal bringing a short spear (or stick) and fixing it in the ground, and then he proclaimed the Iqama of the prayer, and I saw Allah's Apostle coming out, wearing a cloak with its sleeves rolled up. He then offered a two-rak`at prayer while facing the stick, and I saw the people and animals passing in front of him beyond the stick.

حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاقُ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ شُمَيْلٍ أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَوْنُ بْنُ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ قَالَ فَرَأَيْتُ بِلَالًا جَائَ بِعَنَزَةٍ فَرَکَزَهَا ثُمَّ أَقَامَ الصَّلَاةَ فَرَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ فِي حُلَّةٍ مُشَمِّرًا فَصَلَّی رَکْعَتَيْنِ إِلَی الْعَنَزَةِ وَرَأَيْتُ النَّاسَ وَالدَّوَابَّ يَمُرُّونَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنْ وَرَائِ الْعَنَزَةِ

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "The part of an Izar which hangs below the ankles is in the Fire."

أَبِيهِ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ ← عَوْنِ بْنِ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ، ← عُمَرُ بْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ ← ابْنُ شُمَيْلٍ ← إِسْحَاقُ

حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَا أَسْفَلَ مِنْ الْکَعْبَيْنِ مِنْ الْإِزَارِ فَفِي النَّارِ

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle, "Allah will not look, on the Day of Resurrection, at a person who drags his Izar (behind him) out of pride and arrogance.

مَا أَسْفَلَ مِنْ الْکَعْبَيْنِ مِنْ الْإِزَارِ فَفِي النَّارِ ← النَّبِيِّ ← أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ← سَعِیْدِ بْنِ اَبِیْ سَعِیْدٍ الْمَقْبُرِیِّ ← شُعْبَةُ، ← آدَمُ،

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِکٌ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا يَنْظُرُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِلَی مَنْ جَرَّ إِزَارَهُ بَطَرًا

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (or 'Abul Qasim) said, "While a man was walking, clad in a two-piece garment and proud of himself with his hair well-combed, suddenly Allah made him sink into the earth and he will go on sinking into it till the Day of Resurrection.

أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ← الْأَعْرَجِ ← أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، ← مَالِكٍ، ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ،

حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْ قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَمَا رَجُلٌ يَمْشِي فِي حُلَّةٍ تُعْجِبُهُ نَفْسُهُ مُرَجِّلٌ جُمَّتَهُ إِذْ خَسَفَ اللَّهُ بِهِ فَهُوَ يَتَجَلْجَلُ إِلَی يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: Allah's Apostle said, "While a man was dragging his Izar on the ground (behind him), suddenly Allah made him sink into the earth and he will go on sinking into it till the Day of Resurrection." Narrated Abu Huraira: that he heard the Prophet (narrating as above No. 680).

أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ← مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ← شُعْبَةُ، ← آدَمُ،

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُفَيْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ خَالِدٍ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ بَيْنَا رَجُلٌ يَجُرُّ إِزَارَهُ إِذْ خُسِفَ بِهِ فَهُوَ يَتَجَلَّلُ فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَی يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ تَابَعَهُ يُونُسُ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ وَلَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ شُعَيْبٌ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever drags his clothes (on the ground) out of pride and arrogance, Allah will not look at him on the Day of Resurrection."

سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ ← ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، ← عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ← اللَّيْثُ ← سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُفَيْرٍ

حَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ الْمَعْرُورِ هُوَ ابْنُ سُوَيْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ عَلَيْهِ بُرْدًا وَعَلَی غُلَامِهِ بُرْدًا فَقُلْتُ لَوْ أَخَذْتَ هَذَا فَلَبِسْتَهُ کَانَتْ حُلَّةً وَأَعْطَيْتَهُ ثَوْبًا آخَرَ فَقَالَ کَانَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ رَجُلٍ کَلَامٌ وَکَانَتْ أُمُّهُ أَعْجَمِيَّةً فَنِلْتُ مِنْهَا فَذَکَرَنِي إِلَی النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لِي أَسَابَبْتَ فُلَانًا قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ أَفَنِلْتَ مِنْ أُمِّهِ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ إِنَّکَ امْرُؤٌ فِيکَ جَاهِلِيَّةٌ قُلْتُ عَلَی حِينِ سَاعَتِي هَذِهِ مِنْ کِبَرِ السِّنِّ قَالَ نَعَمْ هُمْ إِخْوَانُکُمْ جَعَلَهُمْ اللَّهُ تَحْتَ أَيْدِيکُمْ فَمَنْ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ أَخَاهُ تَحْتَ يَدِهِ فَلْيُطْعِمْهُ مِمَّا يَأْکُلُ وَلْيُلْبِسْهُ مِمَّا يَلْبَسُ وَلَا يُکَلِّفُهُ مِنْ الْعَمَلِ مَا يَغْلِبُهُ فَإِنْ کَلَّفَهُ مَا يَغْلِبُهُ فَلْيُعِنْهُ عَلَيْهِ

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet led us in the Zuhr prayer, offering only two rak`at and then (finished it) with Taslim, and went to a piece of wood in front of the mosque and put his hand over it. Abu Bakr and `Umar were also present among the people on that day but dared not talk to him (about his unfinished prayer). And the hasty people went away, wondering. "Has the prayer been shortened" Among the people there was a man whom the Prophet used to call Dhul-Yadain (the longarmed). He said, "O Allah's Prophet! Have you forgotten or has the prayer been shortened?" The Prophet said, "Neither have I forgotten, nor has it been shortened." They (the people) said, "Surely, you have forgotten, O Allah's Apostle!" The Prophet said, Dhul-Yadain has told the truth." So the Prophet got up and offered other two rak`at and finished his prayer with Taslim. Then he said Takbir, performed a prostration of ordinary duration or longer, then he raised his head and said Takbir and performed another prostration of ordinary duration or longer and then raised his head and said Takbir (i.e. he performed the two prostrations of Sahu, i.e., forgetfulness).

اَبِیْ ذَرٍّ ← الْمَعْرُورِ هُوَ ابْنُ سُوَيْدٍ ← الْاَعْمَشِ ← أَبِي ← عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ،

حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ صَلَّی بِنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الظُّهْرَ رَکْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ثُمَّ قَامَ إِلَی خَشَبَةٍ فِي مُقَدَّمِ الْمَسْجِدِ وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَيْهَا وَفِي الْقَوْمِ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَبُو بَکْرٍ وَعُمَرُ فَهَابَا أَنْ يُکَلِّمَاهُ وَخَرَجَ سَرَعَانُ النَّاسِ فَقَالُوا قَصُرَتْ الصَّلَاةُ وَفِي الْقَوْمِ رَجُلٌ کَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدْعُوهُ ذَا الْيَدَيْنِ فَقَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ أَنَسِيتَ أَمْ قَصُرَتْ فَقَالَ لَمْ أَنْسَ وَلَمْ تَقْصُرْ قَالُوا بَلْ نَسِيتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ صَدَقَ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ فَقَامَ فَصَلَّی رَکْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ثُمَّ کَبَّرَ فَسَجَدَ مِثْلَ سُجُودِهِ أَوْ أَطْوَلَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ وَکَبَّرَ ثُمَّ وَضَعَ مِثْلَ سُجُودِهِ أَوْ أَطْوَلَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ وَکَبَّرَ

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Allah's Apostle passed by two graves and said, "Both of them (persons in the grave) are being tortured, and they are not being tortured for a major sin. This one used not to save himself from being soiled with his urine, and the other used to go about with calumnies (among the people to rouse hostilities, e.g., one goes to a person and tells him that so-and-so says about him such-and-such evil things). The Prophet then asked for a green leaf of a date-palm tree, split it into two pieces and planted one on each grave and said, "It is hoped that their punishment may be abated till those two pieces of the leaf get dried." (See Hadith No 215, Vol 1).

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی حَدَّثَنَا وَکِيعٌ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُجَاهِدًا يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَی قَبْرَيْنِ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُمَا لَيُعَذَّبَانِ وَمَا يُعَذَّبَانِ فِي کَبِيرٍ أَمَّا هَذَا فَکَانَ لَا يَسْتَتِرُ مِنْ بَوْلِهِ وَأَمَّا هَذَا فَکَانَ يَمْشِي بِالنَّمِيمَةِ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِعَسِيبٍ رَطْبٍ فَشَقَّهُ بِاثْنَيْنِ فَغَرَسَ عَلَی هَذَا وَاحِدًا وَعَلَی هَذَا وَاحِدًا ثُمَّ قَالَ لَعَلَّهُ يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمَا مَا لَمْ يَيْبَسَا

Narrated Abu Usaid As-Sa`idi: The Prophet said, "The best family among the Ansar is the Banu An-Najjar. "

ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← طَاوْسٍ ← مُجَاهِدًا، ← الْاَعْمَشِ ← وَكِيعٌ، ← يَحْيَى

حَدَّثَنَا قَبِيصَةُ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي أُسَيْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَيْرُ دُورِ الْأَنْصَارِ بَنُو النَّجَّارِ

Narrated `Aisha: A man asked permission to enter upon Allah's Apostle. The Prophet said, "Admit him. What an evil brother of his people or a son of his people." But when the man entered, the Prophet spoke to him in a very polite manner. (And when that person left) I said, "O Allah's Apostle! You had said what you had said, yet you spoke to him in a very polite manner?" The Prophet said, "O `Aisha! The worst people are those whom the people desert or leave in order to save themselves from their dirty language or from their transgression."

أَبِي أُسَيْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ ← اَبِیْ سَلَمَۃَ ← أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، ← سُفْيَانَ، ← قَبِيصَةُ،

حَدَّثَنَا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ الْمُنْکَدِرِ سَمِعَ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَخْبَرَتْهُ قَالَتْ اسْتَأْذَنَ رَجُلٌ عَلَی رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ ائْذَنُوا لَهُ بِئْسَ أَخُو الْعَشِيرَةِ أَوْ ابْنُ الْعَشِيرَةِ فَلَمَّا دَخَلَ أَلَانَ لَهُ الْکَلَامَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قُلْتَ الَّذِي قُلْتَ ثُمَّ أَلَنْتَ لَهُ الْکَلَامَ قَالَ أَيْ عَائِشَةُ إِنَّ شَرَّ النَّاسِ مَنْ تَرَکَهُ النَّاسُ أَوْ وَدَعَهُ النَّاسُ اتِّقَائَ فُحْشِهِ

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Once the Prophet went through the grave-yards of Medina and heard the voices of two humans who were being tortured in their graves. The Prophet said, "They are being punished, but they are not being punished because of a major sin, yet their sins are great. One of them used not to save himself from (being soiled with) the urine, and the other used to go about with calumnies (Namima)." Then the Prophet asked for a green palm tree leaf and split it into two pieces and placed one piece on each grave, saying, "I hope that their punishment may be abated as long as these pieces of the leaf are not dried."

اسْتَأْذَنَ رَجُلٌ عَلَی رَسُولِ اللهِ ← عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ، ← ابْنَ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، ← ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، ← صَدَقَةُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ،

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ سَلَامٍ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبِيْدَةُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ بَعْضِ حِيطَانِ الْمَدِينَةِ فَسَمِعَ صَوْتَ إِنْسَانَيْنِ يُعَذَّبَانِ فِي قُبُورِهِمَا فَقَالَ يُعَذَّبَانِ وَمَا يُعَذَّبَانِ فِي کَبِيرٍ وَإِنَّهُ لَکَبِيرٌ کَانَ أَحَدُهُمَا لَا يَسْتَتِرُ مِنْ الْبَوْلِ وَکَانَ الْآخَرُ يَمْشِي بِالنَّمِيمَةِ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِجَرِيدَةٍ فَکَسَرَهَا بِکِسْرَتَيْنِ أَوْ ثِنْتَيْنِ فَجَعَلَ کِسْرَةً فِي قَبْرِ هَذَا وَکِسْرَةً فِي قَبْرِ هَذَا فَقَالَ لَعَلَّهُ يُخَفَّفُ عَنْهُمَا مَا لَمْ يَيْبَسَا

Narrated Hudhaifa: I heard the Prophet saying, "A Qattat will not enter Paradise."

خَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ مِنْ بَعْضِ حِيطَانِ الْمَدِينَةِ ← ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← مُجَاهِدٍ ← مَنْصُورٌ، ← عُبَيْدَةُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ← ابْنُ سَلَّامٍ
