حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ وَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَقَالَ إِنَّ مَوْلَاكَ إِذَا سَجَدَ وَضَعَ جَبْهَتَهُ وَذِرَاعَيْهِ وَصَدْرَهُ بِالْأَرْضِ فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ مَا يَحْمِلُكَ عَلَى مَا تَصْنَعُ قَالَ التَّوَاضُعُ قَالَ هَكَذَا رِبْضَةُ الْكَلْبِ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا سَجَدَ رُئِيَ بَيَاضُ إِبْطَيْهِ

It was narrated that Shu'bah said: A man came to lbn 'Abbas (RA) and said: When your freed slave prostrates, he puts his forehead, forearms and chest on the ground. Ibn 'Abbas (PBUH) said to him: What made you do what you are doing? He said: Humility. He said: This is how the dog sits. I saw the Prophet (PBUH) when he prostrated; the whiteness of his armpits could be seen.

و حَدَّثَنَاه حُسَيْنٌ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

It was narrated that Shu'bah said: A man came to lbn 'Abbas (RA) and said: When your freed slave prostrates, he puts his forehead, forearms and chest on the ground. It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (RA) that the Prophet (PBUH) used to send him with his family to Mina on the Day of Sacrifice to stone the ]amrnh with the dawn.

قَالَ حَدَّثَنَاه حُسَيْنٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ بِهِ مَعَ أَهْلِهِ إِلَى مِنًى يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ فَرَمَوْا الْجَمْرَةَ مَعَ الْفَجْرِ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (RA) that the Prophet (PBUH) sent him with his family to Mina on the Day of Sacrifice and they stoned the Jamrah with the dawn.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ حُسَيْنٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ وَطِئَ أَمَتَهُ فَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ فَهِيَ مُعْتَقَةٌ عَنْ دُبُرٍ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said; The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: Whoever has intercourse with his female slave and she bears him a child, she becomes free after he dies.”

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ حُسَيْنٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِهِ يَتَّقِي بِفُضُولِهِ حَرَّ الْأَرْضِ وَبَرْدَهَا

It was narrated that Ibn Abbas (RA) said: The Prophet (PBUH) used to pray in a garment, wrapping it around himself and using its extra length to protect himself from the heat and cold of the ground.

حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ زَائِدَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَأْتِيهِ الْجَارِيَةُ بِالْكَتِفِ مِنْ الْقِدْرِ فَيَأْكُلُ مِنْهَا ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَيُصَلِّي وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ وَلَمْ يَمَسَّ مَاءً

It was narrated that Ibn Abbas (dfe) said; The slave woman would bring the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) meat from the shoulder (of an animal) from the pot. He would eat from it, then he would go out to the prayer and would pray without doing wudoo’ or touching water.

It was narrated that Ibn Abbas said; The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to pray on a reed mat.

حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنِي يُونُسُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ هُرْمُزَ أَنَّ نَجْدَةَ الْحَرُورِيَّ حِينَ خَرَجَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ ابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ أَرْسَلَ إِلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ يَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ سَهْمِ ذِي الْقُرْبَى لِمَنْ تَرَاهُ قَالَ هُوَ لَنَا لِقُرْبَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَسَمَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَهُمْ وَقَدْ كَانَ عُمَرُ عَرَضَ عَلَيْنَا مِنْهُ شَيْئًا رَأَيْنَاهُ دُونَ حَقِّنَا فَرَدَدْنَاهُ عَلَيْهِ وَأَبَيْنَا أَنْ نَقْبَلَهُ وَكَانَ الَّذِي عَرَضَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَنْ يُعِينَ نَاكِحَهُمْ وَأَنْ يَقْضِيَ عَنْ غَارِمِهِمْ وَأَنْ يُعْطِيَ فَقِيرَهُمْ وَأَبَى أَنْ يَزِيدَهُمْ عَلَى ذَلِكَ

It was narrated from Yazeed bin Hurmuz that when Najdah al-Haroori [i.e., Khariji] rebelled at the time of the turmoil of Ibn az-Zubair, he sent word to Ibn 'Abbas asking him about the share of the near relatives [of the Prophet (PBUH): Who do you think it is for? He said: It is for us, the near relatives of the Messenger of Allah The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) allocated it to them. 'Umar offered us some of it and we thought it was less than what we were entitled to, so we rejected it and refused to accept it. What he offered to them was to help those among them who wanted to get married, to pay off the debts of those among them who were in debt and to give to the poor among them. And he refused to give them more than that.

حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَسْدِلُ شَعَرَهُ وَكَانَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ يَفْرُقُونَ رُءُوسَهُمْ وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُحِبُّ مُوَافَقَةَ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ فِيمَا لَمْ يَنْزِلْ عَلَيْهِ فَفَرَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأْسَهُ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (RA) that the Prophet (PBUH) used to let his hair hang down (over his forehead), and the mushrikoon used to part their hair. The People of the Book used to let their hair hang down over their foreheads and the Prophet (PBUH) liked to do the same as the People of the Book in matters concerning which he had not received any revelation. Then (later on) the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) parted his hair.

حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَا أَحَدٌ مِنْ النَّاسِ إِلَّا وَقَدْ أَخْطَأَ أَوْ هَمَّ بِخَطِيئَةٍ لَيْسَ يَحْيَى بْنَ زَكَرِيَّا

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (RA) that the Messenger of Allah said: "There is no one among the people who has not erred or thought of erring, apart from Yahya bin Zakariya.

حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَدَاوُدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ يَزِيدُ أَحَدُهُمَا عَلَى صَاحِبِهِ أَنَّ رَجُلًا نَادَى ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ وَالنَّاسُ حَوْلَهُ فَقَالَ أَسُنَّةً تَبْتَغُونَ بِهَذَا النَّبِيذِ أَمْ هُوَ أَهْوَنُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ اللَّبَنِ وَالْعَسَلِ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ جَاءَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَبَّاسًا فَقَالَ اسْقُونَا فَقَالَ إِنَّ هَذَا النَّبِيذَ شَرَابٌ قَدْ مُغِثَ وَمُرِثَ أَفَلَا نَسْقِيكَ لَبَنًا أَوْ عَسَلًا قَالَ اسْقُونَا مِمَّا تَسْقُونَ مِنْهُ النَّاسَ فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَعَهُ أَصْحَابُهُ مِنْ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَالْأَنْصَارِ بِسِقَاءَيْنِ فِيهِمَا النَّبِيذُ فَلَمَّا شَرِبَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَجِلَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَرْوَى فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ فَقَالَ أَحْسَنْتُمْ هَكَذَا فَاصْنَعُوا قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فَرِضَا رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِذَلِكَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ تَسِيلَ شِعَابُهَا لَبَنًا وَعَسَلًا

Husain bin 'Abdullah bin 'Ubaiduliah bin 'Abbas and Dawood bin 'Ali bin 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas narrated, one of them adding to the report of his companion, that a man called out to Ibn 'Abbas, when the people were around him; Are you following the Sunn ah with regard to this nabcedh, or is it easier for you than milk and honey? Ibn 'Abbas (PBUH) said: The Prophet (PBUH) came to 'Abbas and said: "Give us something to drink." He said: This nabeedh is something that has been steeped and soaked; shouldn't we give you milk or honey? He said: "Give us what you give to others." So two skins filled with nabeedh were brought to the Prophet who had his Companions of the Muhajireen and Ansar with him. When the Prophet (PBUH) drank, he stopped drinking before his thirst was quenched. He raised his head and said: "You have done well. This is what you should do." Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said: The approval of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was dearer to me than seeing these mountain passes flowing with milk and honey.
