حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ جَاءَ عُمَرُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ فِي مَشْرُبَةٍ لَهُ فَقَالَ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيَدْخُلُ عُمَرُ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said: 'Umar came to the Prophet (PBUH) when he was in a storage room of his and said: Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah, peace be upon you, may 'Umar come in?

جَاءَ عُمَرُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ وَهُوَ فِي مَشْرُبَةٍ لَهُ فَقَالَ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ ← ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ← سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ، ← أَبِيهِ ← الْحَسَنُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ صَالِحٍ، ← أَسْوَدُ

حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِذَا اخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِي الطَّرِيقِ فَدَعُوا سَبْعَ أَذْرُعٍ ثُمَّ ابْنُوا وَمَنْ سَأَلَهُ جَارُهُ أَنْ يَدْعَمَ عَلَى حَائِطِهِ فَلْيَدَعْهُ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (RA) that the Prophet (PBUH)said: "If you have a dispute concerning the road, then make it seven cubits, then build, and if one neighbour asks another to let him use his wall (as a support), he should let him do so."

النَّبِيِّ ← ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← عِكْرِمَةَ، ← سِمَاكٍ، ← شَرِيکٍ ← أَسْوَدُ

حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنِ ابْنِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيِّ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ فَتَحَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَكَّةَ أَقَامَ فِيهَا سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said: When the Prophet (PBUH) conquered Makkah, he stayed there for seventeen days, praying two rak'ahs [in the obligatory prayers that are four rak'ahs for one who is not travelling].

فَتَحَ النَّبِيُّ مَكَّةَ أَقَامَ فِيهَا سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ ← ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← عِكْرِمَةَ، ← ابْنُ الْأَصْبَهَانِيِّ، ← شَرِيکٍ ← أَسْوَدُ

حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ حُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ مَنْ وَلَدَتْ مِنْهُ أَمَتُهُ فَهِيَ مُعْتَقَةٌ عَنْ دُبُرٍ مِنْهُ أَوْ قَالَ بَعْدَهُ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (RA), who attributed it to the Prophet (PBUH): "If a man's slave woman bears him a child, she becomes free when he dies." Or he said: "after he dies."

حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ حُسَيْنٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُتَوَشِّحًا بِهِ يَتَّقِي بِفُضُولِهِ بَرْدَ الْأَرْضِ وَحَرَّهَا

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said: I saw the Prophet (PBUH) praying in a single garment, wrapping himself in it, protecting himself in it from the coldness or heat of the ground.

ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← عِكْرِمَةَ، ← حُسَيْنٌ ← شَرِيکٍ ← أَسْوَدُ

حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ أَعْرَابِيًّا جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَتَكَلَّمَ بِكَلَامٍ بَيِّنٍ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ مِنْ الْبَيَانِ سِحْرًا وَإِنَّ مِنْ الشِّعْرِ حُكْمًا

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (RA) that a Bedouin came to the Prophet (PBUH) and spoke eloquently and the Prophet (PBUH)said: "In eloquence there is (an impact like that of) magic and in some poetry there is wisdom."

ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ أَعْرَابِيًّا جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ فَتَكَلَّمَ بِكَلَامٍ بَيِّنٍ ← عِكْرِمَةَ، ← سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ← أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، ← حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَی

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ إِنَّ الْمَلَأَ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ اجْتَمَعُوا فِي الْحِجْرِ فَتَعَاقَدُوا بِاللَّاتِ وَالْعُزَّى وَمَنَاةَ الثَّالِثَةِ الْأُخْرَى وَنَائِلَةَ وَإِسَافٍ لَوْ قَدْ رَأَيْنَا مُحَمَّدًا لَقَدْ قُمْنَا إِلَيْهِ قِيَامَ رَجُلٍ وَاحِدٍ فَلَمْ نُفَارِقْهُ حَتَّى نَقْتُلَهُ فَأَقْبَلَتْ ابْنَتُهُ فَاطِمَةُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهَا تَبْكِي حَتَّى دَخَلَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَتْ هَؤُلَاءِ الْمَلَأُ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ قَدْ تَعَاقَدُوا عَلَيْكَ لَوْ قَدْ رَأَوْكَ لَقَدْ قَامُوا إِلَيْكَ فَقَتَلُوكَ فَلَيْسَ مِنْهُمْ رَجُلٌ إِلَّا قَدْ عَرَفَ نَصِيبَهُ مِنْ دَمِكَ فَقَالَ يَا بُنَيَّةُ أَرِينِي وَضُوءًا فَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ الْمَسْجِدَ فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ قَالُوا هَا هُوَ ذَا وَخَفَضُوا أَبْصَارَهُمْ وَسَقَطَتْ أَذْقَانُهُمْ فِي صُدُورِهِمْ وَعَقِرُوا فِي مَجَالِسِهِمْ فَلَمْ يَرْفَعُوا إِلَيْهِ بَصَرًا وَلَمْ يَقُمْ إِلَيْهِ مِنْهُمْ رَجُلٌ فَأَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى قَامَ عَلَى رُءُوسِهِمْ فَأَخَذَ قَبْضَةً مِنْ التُّرَابِ فَقَالَ شَاهَتْ الْوُجُوهُ ثُمَّ حَصَبَهُمْ بِهَا فَمَا أَصَابَ رَجُلًا مِنْهُمْ مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْحَصَى حَصَاةٌ إِلَّا قُتِلَ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ كَافِرًا

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said: A group of Quraish gathered in the Hijr and swore an oath by al~Lat and al- 'Uzza, and by Manat the third one, and Na'ilah and Tsaf, [saying]. If we see Muhammad, we will go to him as one man, and will not leave him until we kill him. Then his daughter Fatimah (RA) came weeping, and entered upon the Messenger of Allah and said: These people of Quraish have sworn an oath against you, that if they see you, they will come to you as one man and kill you, and there is no one among them who will not have a share in your killing. He said: "O my daughter, bring me water for wudoo' Then he did wudoo' and entered upon them in the mosqueand when they saw him they said: Here he is. Then they lowered their gaze, i.e., fell asleep, and their chins sunk onto their chests. They stayed where they were and did not look up at him, and the Messenger of Allah (PBUH)came and stood over them. He took a handful of dust and said, "'May these faces be made ugly!". Then he threw it at them and no one was hit by that dust but he was among those who were slain as kafirs on the day of Badr.

ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ← عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ← يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ، ← إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى،

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ أَنَّ قَيْسَ بْنَ الْحَجَّاجِ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ حَنَشًا حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ حَدَّثَهُ قَالَ كُنْتُ رِدْفَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لِي يَا غُلَامُ إِنِّي مُحَدِّثُكَ حَدِيثًا احْفَظْ اللَّهَ يَحْفَظْكَ احْفَظْ اللَّهَ تَجِدْهُ تُجَاهَكَ إِذَا سَأَلْتَ فَاسْأَلْ اللَّهَ وَإِذَا اسْتَعَنْتَ فَاسْتَعِنْ بِاللَّهِ فَقَدْ رُفِعَتْ الْأَقْلَامُ وَجَفَّتْ الْكُتُبُ فَلَوْ جَاءَتْ الْأُمَّةُ يَنْفَعُونَكَ بِشَيْءٍ لَمْ يَكْتُبْهُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَكَ لَمَا اسْتَطَاعَتْ وَلَوْ أَرَادَتْ أَنْ تَضُرَّكَ بِشَيْءٍ لَمْ يَكْتُبْهُ اللَّهُ لَكَ مَا اسْتَطَاعَتْ

Ibn 'Abbas said: i was seated behind the Prophet (PBUH) on his mount and he said to me: "O boy, I will teach you some words: be mindful of Allah and Allah will take care of you; be mindful of Allah and you will find Him in front of you; if you ask, ask of Allah, and if you seek help, seek help from Allah. The pens have been lifted and the pages have dried. If the nation wanted to benefit you with anything that Allah has not decreed for you, they would never be able to do that, and if they wanted to harm you with anything that Allah has not decreed for you, they would never be able to do it.

«كُنْتُ رِدْفَ النَّبِيِّ ← أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ← أن حنشا ← نَافِعِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ أَنَّ قَيْسَ بْنَ الْحَجَّاجِ ← ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ← يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ وَمُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ هُبَيْرَةَ قَالَ يَحْيَى عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ وَلَمْ يَقُلْ مُوسَى عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ حَنَشٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَخْرُجُ فَيُهَرِيقُ الْمَاءَ فَيَتَمَسَّحُ بِالتُّرَابِ فَأَقُولُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ الْمَاءَ مِنْكَ قَرِيبٌ قَالَ مَا أَدْرِي لَعَلِّي لَا أَبْلُغُهُ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to go out to pass water, then he would wipe his hands with dust. I would say: O Messenger of Allah, water is close to you. He would say: "How do I know? I may never reach it." On another occasion Yahya said: I was with the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and he went out and passed water, then he did tayammum, and it was said to him: Water is close to us.

ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← حنش ← الْأَعْرَجِ ← الْأَعْرَجِ وَلَمْ يَقُلْ مُوسَى ← يَحْيَى ← عبد الله بن هبيرة ← ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ← يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ وَمُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ

قَالَ يَحْيَى مَرَّةً أُخْرَى كُنْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَخَرَجَ فَأُهْرَاقَ الْمَاءَ فَتَيَمَّمَ فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّ الْمَاءَ مِنَّا قَرِيبٌ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to go out to pass water, then he would wipe his hands with dust. I would say: O Messenger of Allah, water is close to you. He would say: "How do I know? I may never reach it." On another occasion Yahya said: I was with the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and he went out and passed water, then he did tayammum, and it was said to him: Water is close to us.

حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو كُدَيْنَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى خَمْسَ صَلَوَاتٍ بِمِنًى

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (RA) that the Prophet (PBUH) offered five prayers in Mina.

ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← مِقْسَمٍ، ← الْحَكَمِ ← الْاَعْمَشِ ← أَبُو كُدَيْنَةَ ← أَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ

حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ حَدَّثَنَا هُرَيْمٌ عَنْ لَيْثٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَفَاءَلُ وَلَا يَتَطَيَّرُ وَيُعْجِبُهُ الِاسْمُ الْحَسَنُ

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH)was optimistic and not super- stitious, and he liked good names.

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ يَتَفَاءَلُ وَلَا يَتَطَيَّرُ وَيُعْجِبُهُ الِاسْمُ الْحَسَنُ ← ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← عِكْرِمَةَ، ← لَيْثٌ، ← هُرَيْمٌ ← أَسْوَدُ
