4065 - (خ) - حدثنا أحمد وعمر ابنا محمد بن أحمد وغيرهما، قالوا: أنا إبراهيم بن عبد الله، قال: ثنا الحسين بن إسماعيل، قال: ثنا أنس بن خالد، قال: ثنا الأنصاري، قال: حدثني ابن عون، قال: ثنا موسى بن أنس: عن أنس بن مالك قال: لما كان يوم اليمامة جئت إلى ثابت بن قيس بن شماس، وهو يتحنط، فقلت: يا عم! أما ترى ما يلقى الناس؟ #143# فلبس أكفانه، ثم أقبل وهو يقول: الآن الآن، وجعل يقول: بالحنوط، وأومأ بيده إلى ساقه -ووصف الأنصاري، وقال بالحنوط هكذا، يذر على ساقه شيئا-، وهو يسرع، ثم أقبل، فقال: هكذا عن وجوهنا نقارع القوم، بئس ما عودتم أقرانكم، ما هكذا كنا نقاتل [مع] رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فتقدم، [فقاتل] حتى قتل.

4066 - (خ، م) - حدثنا أحمد بن خلف، قال: ثنا أبو زكريا، قال: ثنا محمد بن يعقوب، قال: أنا محمد بن عبد الله، قال: أنا أنس، عن هشام بن عروة، عن أبيه: عن عائشة أنها قالت: لما اشتد مرض أبي بكر بكيت، وأغمي عليه فقلت: من لا يزال دمعه مقنعا فإنه [في] مرة مدفوق قالت: فأفاق أبو بكر، فقال: ليس كما قلت يا بنية؛ ولكن: {وجاءت سكرة الموت بالحق ذلك ما كنت منه تحيد}، ثم قال: أي يوم توفي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم؟ قالت: فقلت: يوم الاثنين، قالت: فقال: فأي يوم هذا؟ قالت: يوم الاثنين، قال: فإني أرجو من الله ما بيني وبين الليل، قالت: فمات ليلة الثلاثاء، قالت: فدفن قبل أن يصبح، قالت: وقال: #144# في كم كفنتم رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم؟ فقالت: كنا كفناه في ثلاثة أثواب سحولية جدد بيض، ليس فيها قميص ولا عمامة، قالت: فقال لي: اغسلوا ثوبي هذا -وبه ردع زعفران أو مشق-، واجعلوا معه ثوبين جديدين، فقالت عائشة: فقلت: إنه خلق! فقال لها: الحي أحوج إلى الجديد من الميت، إنما هو للمهلة.

4067 - (خ، م) - حدثنا ابن أبي عثمان، قال: ثنا ابن البيع، قال: ثنا الحسين بن إسماعيل، قال: ثنا البخاري، قال: ثنا إسحاق الفروي، قال: ثنا مالك بن أنس، عن ابن شهاب: عن مالك بن أوس بن الحدثان، وكان محمد بن جبير بن مطعم ذكر لي ذكرا من حديثه ذلك، فانطلقت حتى أدخل على مالك بن أوس، فسألته عن ذلك الحديث، فقال مالك: بينما أنا جالس في أهلي حين متع النهار إذا رسول عمر بن الخطاب يأتيني، فقال: أجب أمير المؤمنين، فانطلقت معه حتى أدخل على عمر، فإذا هو جالس على رمال سرير ليس بينه وبينه فراش، متكئا على وسادة من أدم، فسلمت عليه، ثم جلست، فقال: يا مال! إنه قدم علينا من قومك أهل أبيات، وقد أمرت فيهم، فاقبضه فاقسمه فيهم، فقلت: يا أمير المؤمنين! لو أمرت به #145# غيري، قال: اقبضه أيها المرء، قال: فبينا أنا جالس عنده أتاه حاجبه يرفأ، فقال: هل لك في عثمان وعبد الرحمن والزبير وسعد بن أبي وقاص يستأذنون؟ قال: نعم، ائذن لهم، فدخلوا وسلموا، فجلسوا، ثم جلس يرفأ يسيرا، ثم قال: هل لك في علي وعباس؟ قال: نعم، فأذن لهما، قال: فدخلا، فسلما وجلسا، فقال عباس: يا أمير المؤمنين! اقض بيني وبين هذا -وهما يختصمان فيما أفاء الله على رسوله صلى الله عليه وسلم من بني النضير-، فقال الرهط عثمان وأصحابه: اقض بينهما وأرح أحدهما من الآخر، فقال عمر: أنشدكم بالله الذي بإذنه تقوم السماء والأرض! هل تعلمون أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: ((لا نورث، ما تركنا صدقة)) -يريد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم نفسه-؟ قال الرهط: قد قال ذلك، فأقبل عمر على علي والعباس، فقال: أنشدكما [الله]! هل تعلمان أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال ذلك؟ قالا: قد قال ذلك، قال عمر: فإني أحدثكم عن هذا الأمر، إن الله عز وجل قد كان خص رسوله صلى الله عليه وسلم في هذا الفيء بشيء لم يعطه أحدا غيره، ثم قرأ {وما أفاء الله على رسوله منهم} إلى قوله: {قدير}، فكانت هذه خاصة لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، ثم والله ما احتازها دونكم ولا استأثر بها عليكم، قد أعطاكموه وبثها فيكم حتى بقي منها هذا المال، فكان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ينفق على أهله نفقة سنتهم من هذا المال، ثم يأخذ ما بقي، فيجعله مجعل مال الله، فعمل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بذلك حياته، أنشدكم بالله تعالى! هل تعلمون ذلك؟ قالوا: نعم، ثم قال لعلي والعباس: أنشدكما بالله! هل تعلمان ذلك؟ قال عمر: ثم توفى الله نبيه صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال #146# أبو بكر: أنا ولي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقبضها أبو بكر، فعمل فيها بما عمل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، والله يعلم إنه فيها لصادق بار راشد للحق، ثم توفى الله تعالى أبا بكر وكنت أنا ولي أبي بكر، فقبضتها سنتين من إمارتي أعمل فيها بما عمل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وبما عمل فيها أبو بكر، والله يعلم أني فيها لصادق بار راشد تابع للحق، ثم جئتماني تكلمانني، وكلمتكما واحدة وأمركما واحد، فجئتني يا عباس تسألني نصيبك من ابن أخيك، وجاءني هذا -يريد عليا- يريد نصيب امرأته من أبيها، فقلت لكما: إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: ((لا نورث، ما تركنا صدقة))، فلما بدا لي أن أدفعه إليكما قلت: إن شئتما دفعتها إليكما؛ على أن عليكما عهد الله وميثاقه لتعملان فيها بما عمل فيها رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وبما عمل فيها أبو بكر وبما عملت فيها منذ وليتها، فقلتما: ادفعها إلينا، فبذلك دفعتها إليكما، فأنشدكم بالله! هل دفعت إليهما بذلك؟ قال الرهط: نعم، ثم أقبل على علي وعباس، فقال: أنشدكما بالله! هل دفعتها إليكما بذلك؟ قالا: نعم، قال: فتلتمسان قضاء غير ذلك؛ والله الذي بإذنه تقوم السماء والأرض! لا أقضي فيها قضاء غير ذلك، فإن عجزتما عنها فادفعاها إلي، فأنا أكفيكماها.

4068 - (خ، م) - حدثنا أحمد بن خلف، قال: ثنا أبو عبد الله، قال: ثنا محمد بن يعقوب، قال: ثنا أحمد بن شيبان، قال: ثنا سفيان، عن عمرو بن دينار، عن الزهري: عن مالك بن أوس بن الحدثان قال: أرسل إلي عمر، فدعاني، فدخلت عليه وهو على رمال، فقال: يا مال! إنه قد نزل علينا دواف من #147# قومك، وذكر الحديث في قصة علي والعباس، إلى أن قال: إن أموال بني النضير كانت مما أفاء الله على رسوله صلى الله عليه وسلم مما لم يوجف المسلمون عليه بخيل ولا ركاب، فكانت لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم خالصة، ينفق منها على أهله نفقة سنة، وما بقي جعله في الكراع والسلاح عدة في سبيل الله، ثم هي للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم خاصة.

4069 - (خ) - حدثنا محمد بن أحمد بن علي، قال: ثنا أحمد بن موسى، قال: ثنا أحمد بن محمد بن زياد، قال: ثنا الترمذي، قال: ثنا عبد العزيز بن عبد الله الأويسي، قال: ثنا إبراهيم بن سعد، عن صالح، عن ابن شهاب، قال: أخبرني عروة بن الزبير: أن عائشة أخبرته: أن فاطمة سألت أبا بكر ميراثها، فذكر الحديث، إلى أن قال في آخره: فأما صدقته -يعني: صدقة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بالمدينة- فدفعها عمر إلى علي والعباس، فغلبه عليها علي، وأما خيبر وفدك فأمسكها عمر، وقال: هما صدقة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، كانتا لحقوقه التي تعروه ونوائبه، وأمرهما إلى ولي الأمر، فمضى على ذلك إلى اليوم.

4070 - (خ) - حدثنا محمد بن أحمد بن علي، قال: ثنا أبو بكر، قال: قرئ على دعلج، قال: ثنا عبد الله بن محمد، قال: ثنا إسحاق، قال: ثنا محمد بن فضيل، عن إسماعيل: عن قيس قال: كان عطاء البدريين خمسة آلاف خمسة آلاف، فقال عمر: لأفضلنهم على من بعدهم. #148# قال البخاري: ثنا إبراهيم بن موسى، قال: ثنا هشام بن يوسف، عن ابن جريج، عن عبيد الله بن عمر، عن نافع، عن عمر بن الخطاب، قال: كان فرض للمهاجرين الأولين أربعة آلاف أربعة آلاف، وفرض لابن عمر ثلاثة آلاف وخمسمئة، فقيل له: هو من المهاجرين، فلم نقصته من أربعة آلاف؟ فقال: إنما هاجر به أبوه، يقول: ليس هو كمن هاجر بنفسه.

4071 - (خ) - حدثنا عبد الله بن الحسين وغيره، قالا: أنا محمد بن موسى، قال: ثنا محمد بن يعقوب، قال: ثنا هلال بن العلاء، قال: ثنا عبد الله بن جعفر، قال: ثنا المعتمر بن سليمان، قال: ثنا سعيد بن عبيد الله، قال: ثنا بكر بن عبد الله المزني وزياد بن جبير: عن جبير بن حية قال: بعث عمر الناس في أفناء الأنصار يقاتلون المشركين، قال: فبينا عمر كذلك إذ أتي برجل من المشركين من أهل الأهواز قد أسر، فلما أتي به قال بعض الناس للهرمزان: أيسرك أن لا تقتل؟ قال: نعم، وما هو؟ قال: إذا قربوك من أمير المؤمنين، فكلمك فقل: إني أفرق أن أكلمك، فإذا أراد قتلك فقل: إني في أمان؛ إنك قلت: لا تفرق، قال: فحفظها الرجل، فلما أتي به عمر قال له في بعض ما يسائله عنه: إني أفرق، فلما فرغ من كلامه ساءله عما شاء الله، قال: #149# ثم ساءله، ثم قال له: إني قاتلك، قال: فقال: قد آمنتني، فقال: ويحك! ما آمنتك! قال: قلت: لا تفرق، قال: صدق، أما لي فأسلم، قال: نعم، فأسلم، قال: إني مستشيرك في مغازي هذه؛ فأشر علي في مغازي المسلمين، قال: نعم يا أمير المؤمنين، الأرض مثلها ومثل من فيها من الناس من عدو المسلمين؛ مثل طائر له رأس وله جناحان وله رجلان، فإن كسر أحد الجناحين نهضت الرجلان بجناح والرأس، وإن كسر الجناح الآخر نهضت الرجلان والرأس، وإن شدخ الرأس ذهبت الرجلان والجناحان والرأس؛ فالرأس كسرى، والجناح قيصر، والجناح الآخر فارس، فمر المسلمين أن ينفروا إلى كسرى. قال بكر وزياد جميعا: عن جبير بن حية، قال: فندبنا عمر واستعمل، علينا رجلا من مزينة يقال له: النعمان بن مقرن، وحشر المسلمين معه، قال: وخرجنا فيما خرج من الناس، حتى إذا دنونا من القوم، قال: وأداة الناس وسلاحهم الحجف والرماح المكسرة والنبل، قال: فانطلقنا نسير، وما لنا كثير خيول -أو: ما لنا خيول-، حتى إذا كنا بأرض العدو، وبيننا وبين القوم نهر خرج علينا عامل كسرى في أربعين ألفا حتى وقفوا على النهر، ووقفنا من حياله الآخر، قال: يا أيها الناس! اخرجوا إلينا رجلا يكلمنا، فأخرج إليه المغيرة بن شعبة، وكان رجلا قد تجر وعلم الألسنة، قال: فقام ترجمان القوم، فتكلم دون ملكهم، قال: فقال للناس: ليكلمني رجل منكم، فقال المغيرة: سل عما شئت، فقال: من أنتم؟ فقال: نحن أناس من العرب، كنا في شقاء #150# شديد وبلاء طويل؛ نمص الجلد والنوى من الجوع، ونلبس الوبر والشعر، ونعبد الشجر، فبينا نحن كذلك إذ بعث رب السموات ورب الأرض إلينا نبيا من أنفسنا، نعرف أباه وأمه صلى الله عليه وسلم، فأمرنا نبينا رسول ربنا صلى الله عليه وسلم أن نقاتلكم حتى تعبدوا الله وحده، أو تؤدوا الجزية، وأخبرنا نبينا صلى الله عليه وسلم عن رسالة ربنا أنه: من قتل منا صار إلى جنة ونعيم لم ير مثله قط، ومن بقي منا ملك رقابكم، قال: فقال الرجل: بيننا وبينكم بعد غد حتى نأمر بالجسر يجسر، قال: فافترقوا وجسروا الجسر، ثم إن أعداء الله قطعوا إلينا في مئة ألف، ستون ألفا يجرون الحديد، وأربعون ألفا رماة الحدق، قال: فأطافوا بنا عشر مرات، قال: وكنا اثني عشر ألفا، فقالوا: هاتوا لنا رجلا يكلمنا، فأخرجنا المغيرة، فأعاد عليهم كلامه الأول، فقال الملك: أتدرون ما مثلنا ومثلكم؟ قال المغيرة: ما مثلنا ومثلكم؟ قال: مثل من له بستان ذو رياحين، وكان له ثعلب قد آذاه، فقال له رب البستان: يا أيها الثعلب! لولا أن ينتن حائطي من جيفتك لهيأت ما قد قتلك، وإنا لولا أن تنتن بلادنا من جيفتكم لكنا قد قتلناكم بالأمس، قال له المغيرة: هل تدري ما قال الثعلب لرب البستان؟ قال: ما قال له؟ قال: قال له: يا رب البستان! أن أموت في حائطك ذا بين الرياحين أحب إلي من أن أخرج إلى أرض قفر ليس فيها شيء، وإنه والله لو لم يكن دين -وقد كنا من شقاء العيش فيما ذكرت لك- ما عدنا في ذلك الشقاء أبدا حتى نشارككم فيما أنتم فيه أو نموت؛ فكيف بنا ومن قتل منا صار إلى رحمة الله عز وجل وجنته، ومن بقي منا ملك رقابكم؟! #151# قال جبير: فأقمنا عليهم يوما لا نقاتلهم ولا يقاتلنا القوم، قال: فقام المغيرة إلى النعمان بن مقرن، فقال: يا أيها الأمير! إن النهار قد متع ما ترى، والله لو وليت من أمر المسلمين الذي وليت منهم لألحقت الناس بعضهم ببعض حتى يحكم الله بين عباده بما أحب، فقال النعمان: ربما أشهدك الله مثلها، ثم لم يندمك ولم يخزك؛ ولكن شهدت مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كثيرا، كان إذا لم يقاتل في أول النهار انتظر حتى تهب الأرواح وتحضر الصلوات، ألا أيها الناس! إني لست كلكم أسمع؛ فانظروا إلى رايتي هذه، فإذا حركتها فاستعدوا، من أراد أن يطعن برمحه فلينشر رمحه، ومن أراد أن يضرب بعصاه فلينشر عصاه، ومن أراد أن يطعن بخنجره فلينشر [خنجره]، ومن أراد أن يضرب بسيفه فلينشر سيفه، ألا يا أيها الناس! إني محركها الثانية فاستعدوا، ثم إني محركها الثالثة فشدوا على بركة الله عز وجل، فإن قتلت فالأمير أخي، فإن قتل أخي فالأمير حذيفة، فإن قتل حذيفة فالأمير المغيرة بن شعبة. وحدثني زياد: أن أباه قال: قتلهم الله، فنظرنا إلى بغل موقر عسلا وسمنا قد كسدت القتلى عليه، فما أشبهه إلا كوما من كوم السمك يلقى بعضه على بعض، فعرفت أنه إنما يكون القتل في الأرض؛ ولكن هذا شيء صنعه الله، وظهر المسلمون، وقتل النعمان وأخوه، وصار الأمر إلى حذيفة. فهذا حديث زياد وبكر. قال: وحدثنا أبو رجاء الحنفي قال: كتب حذيفة إلى عمر أنه أصيب من المهاجرين فلان وفلان وفيمن لا يعرف أكثر، قال: فلما قرأ الكتاب #152# رفع صوته، ثم بكى وبكى، فقال: بل الله يعرفهم، ثلاثا.

4072 - (خ) - حدثنا محمد بن الحسن بن سليم وغانم بن محمد وغيرهما، قالوا: ثنا علي بن أحمد بن محمد، قال: ثنا إبراهيم بن محمد الديلي، قال: ثنا مرار بن حمويه، قال: ثنا محمد بن يحيى الكناني، عن مالك، عن نافع: عن ابن عمر: أنه لما فدع بخيبر قام عمر خطيبا في الناس، فقال: إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عامل يهود خيبر على أموالها وقال: ((نقركم ما أقركم الله))، وإن عبد الله بن عمر خرج إلى ماله هناك، فعدي عليه من الليل، ففدعت يداه ورجلاه، وليس له هنالك عدو غيرهم، هم عدونا وهم نهمتنا، وقد رأيت إجلاءهم، فلما أجمع عمر على ذلك أتاه أحد بني أبي الحقيق، فقال: يا أمير المؤمنين! تخرجنا وقد أقرنا محمد وعاملنا على الأموال وشرط لنا ذلك؟! فقال عمر: أظننت أني نسيت قول رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: ((كيف بك إذا أخرجت من خيبر، تعدو بك قلوصك ليلة بعد ليلة))؟! فأجلاهم عمر، وأعطاهم قيمة ما كان لهم من الثمر مالا وإبلا وعروضا وأقتابا وحبالا وغير ذلك. وفي رواية أخرى: فأجلاهم عمر إلى تيماء وأريحا.

4073 - (خ، م) - حدثنا محمود بن جعفر، قال: ثنا الحسين بن عبد الله بن جعفر، قال: ثنا إبراهيم بن السندي، قال: ثنا الزبير بن بكار، قال: حدثني سفيان، عن الزهري، عن عبيد الله بن عبد الله بن عتبة: عن ابن عباس قال: كنت أقرئ عبد الرحمن بن عوف في خلافة عمر بن الخطاب، فلما كان في آخر حجة حجها عمر بن الخطاب أتاني عبد الرحمن بن عوف ذات ليلة ونحن بمنى، فقال: لو رأيت أمير المؤمنين وأتاه رجل، فقال: إن رجالا يقولون: لو قد مات أمير المؤمنين قد بايعنا فلانا، فقال عمر: إني لقائم في الناس، فمحذرهم هؤلاء الرهط الذين يريدون أن يغتصبوا الناس بيعتهم، فقلت: يا أمير المؤمنين! إن الحج يجمع رعاع الناس وعوامهم، وهم الذين يغلبون على مجلسك، وإنك إن قلت فيهم اليوم مقالة لم يحفظوها ولم يعوها ولم يضعوها موضعها، ويطيروا بها كل مطير؛ فلو أمهلته حتى تقدم المدينة، فإنها دار الهجرة والسنة، وتعود بالمهاجرين والأنصار، فقلت ما قلت متمكنا؛ كان أجدر أن يحفظوا مقالتك، وأن يعوها وأن يضعوها في موضعها، فقال: أما والله إن شاء الله لئن قدمت المدينة لأقومن بها في أول مقام أقومه بالمدينة، قال: فقدمنا المدينة في عقب ذي الحجة، فلما أن جاءت الجمعة هجرت للذي حدثني عبد الرحمن بن عوف ولا أرى أحدا سبقني، فوجدت سعيد بن زيد بن عمرو بن نفيل قد سبقني بالتهجير، فجلست #154# إلى جنب المنبر، فصليت وجلست إلى جنبه تحك ركبتي ركبته، فقلت: أما والله ليقولن أمير المؤمنين على المنبر مقالة لم يقلها أحد قبله ولا بعده، فغضب سعيد وقال: أي مقالة عسيت أن يقولها أمير المؤمنين لم يقلها أحد كان قبله؟! فلما زالت الشمس خرج عمر، فجلس على المنبر وأخذ المؤذن في أذانه، فلما فرغ قام عمر، فخطب، فحمد الله عز وجل وأثنى عليه، ثم قال: أما بعد: فإني قائل مقالة قدر لي أن أقولها، ولا أدري لعلها أن تكون بين يدي أجلي، فمن حفظها وعقلها أو وعاها فليحدث بها حيث انتهت به راحلته، ومن لا فإني لا أحل لأحد أن يكذب على الله تعالى؛ إن الله تعالى بعث محمدا صلى الله عليه وسلم بالحق، وأنزل عليه الكتاب -ثم ذكر كلاما في الرجم والرغبة عن الآباء والنهي عن الإطراء، قال: -، ثم إنه كان من خبرنا أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لما توفي تخلفت عنا الأنصار مع سعد بن عبادة، وتخلف عنا علي والزبير ومن كان معهما في بيت فاطمة، فاجتمع المهاجرون إلى أبي بكر. وذكر الحديث الذي مضى في ذكر أبي بكر وبيعته سواء في الحث على الشورى بهذا الإسناد.

4074 - (م) - حدثنا روح بن محمد، قال: أنا علي بن أبي حامد، قال: أنا إبراهيم بن محمد، قال: ثنا جعفر بن محمد، قال: ثنا إسحاق #155# ابن راهويه ومحمد بن أبي السري، قالا: أنا عبد الرزاق، قال: ثنا معمر عن الزهري: عن سالم، عن أبيه قال: دخلت على حفصة ونوساتها تنطف، فقالت: علمت أن أباك غير مستخلف؟ فقلت: ما كان ليفعل، فقالت: إنه فاعل، فحلفت أن أكلمه في ذلك، فغزوت ولم أكلمه، فكأنما حملت بيميني جبلا، فلما رجعت سألني عن حال الناس، فأخبرته وقلت له: يا أبتاه! إني سمعت الناس يزعمون أنك غير مستخلف، وإنه لو كان راعي إبل أو راعي غنم، فضيع ذلك كان قد ضيع؛ فرعاية الناس أشد؟! فوضع رأسه ساعة وسكت، ثم رفع رأسه، فقال: إن الله يحفظ دينه، وإني إن لا أستخلف فإن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم لم يستخلف، وإن أستخلف فإن أبا بكر قد استخلف، فوالله ما هو إلا أن ذكر رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وذكر أبا بكر فعلمت أنه لن يعدل برسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أحدا، وأنه غير مستخلف.

4076 - (م) - حدثنا أحمد بن سهل، قال: أنا عبد الرحمن بن حمدان، قال: أنا محمد بن أحمد بن حمدان، قال: أنا الحسن، قال: ثنا أبو بكر، قال: ثنا ابن علية، عن سعيد بن أبي عروبة، عن قتادة، عن سالم بن أبي الجعد: عن معدان بن أبي طلحة: أن عمر بن الخطاب قام يوم جمعة خطيبا -أو: خطب يوم جمعة-، فحمد الله وأثنى عليه، ثم ذكر نبي الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وأبا بكر، ثم قال: يا أيها الناس! إني قد رأيت رؤيا كأن ديكا أحمر نقرني نقرتين، وإني لا أرى ذلك إلا لحضور أجلي، وإن ناسا يأمرونني أن أستخلف، وإن الله تعالى لم يكن ليضيع دينه وخلافته، والذي بعث الله به نبيه صلى الله عليه وسلم! فإن عجل بي أمر فالخلافة شورى بين هؤلاء الرهط الستة الذين توفي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وهو عنهم راض، فأيهم بايعتم فاسمعوا له وأطيعوا، وقد عرفت أن رجالا سيطعنون في هذا الأمر، وإني قاتلتهم بيدي هذه على الإسلام، فإن فعلوا فأولئك أعداء الله الكفرة الضلال، ألا وإني والله ما أدع بعدي أهم إلي من الكلالة، وقد سألت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم عنها، فما أغلظ لي في شيء ما أغلظ لي فيها حتى طعن بإصبعه في جنبي -أو: في صدري-، ثم قال: ((يا عمر! يكفيك آية الصيف التي أنزلت في آخر سورة النساء))، وإن أعش فسأقضي فيها قضية لا يختلف فيها أحد يقرأ القرآن ولا يقرأ القرآن، ثم قال: اللهم إني أشهدك على أمراء الأمصار، فإني إنما بعثتهم ليعلموا الناس دينهم وسنة #157# نبيهم، ويقسموا فيئهم، ويعدلوا فيهم، ومن أشكل عليه شيء رفعه إلي، ثم قال: يا أيها الناس! إنكم تأكلون شجرتين ما أراهما إلا خبيثتين؛ هذا الثوم وهذا البصل، لقد كنت أرى الرجل على عهد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يوجد منه ريحه، فيؤخذ بيده حتى يخرج به إلى البقيع، فمن أكلهما لا بد فليمتهما طبخا. قال: فخطب بها عمر بن الخطاب، وأصيب يوم الأربعاء لأربع بقين من ذي الحجة.
