أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ أَبِي دَاوُدَ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ سِمَاکٍ عَنْ عِکْرِمَةَ مُرْسَلٌ أَخْبَرَنَا

it was narrated that Abu ‘Abbas said: “A Bedouin came to the prophet , and said: ‘I have sighted the crescent.’ He said: ‘Do you bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Mul is His slave and Messenger? He said: Yes. So the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم gave the call, saying: ‘Fast.” (Da`if)

مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمِ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ مِصِّيصِيٌّ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا حِبَّانُ بْنُ مُوسَی الْمَرْوَزِيُّ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ سِمَاکٍ عَنْ عِکْرِمَةَ مُرْسَلٌ

It was narrated that ibn ‘Abbas said: “A Bedouin came to the Prophet and said: ‘have sighted the crescent tonight.’ He said: ‘Do you bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Mul is His slave and Messenger?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘Bjlal, announce to the people that they should fast tomorrow.” (Da’if)

أَخْبَرَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ أَبُو عُثْمَانَ وَکَانَ شَيْخًا صَالِحًا بِطَرَسُوسَ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ عَنْ حُسَيْنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ الْجَدَلِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ أَنَّهُ خَطَبَ النَّاسَ فِي الْيَوْمِ الَّذِي يُشَکُّ فِيهِ فَقَالَ أَلَا إِنِّي جَالَسْتُ أَصْحَابَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَسَائَلْتُهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمْ حَدَّثُونِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَانْسُکُوا لَهَا فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْکُمْ فَأَکْمِلُوا ثَلَاثِينَ فَإِنْ شَهِدَ شَاهِدَانِ فَصُومُوا وَأَفْطِرُوا

A similar, Mursal, report was narrated from ‘Ikrimah.(Da`if)

أَخْبَرَنَا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ عَنْ إِسْمَعِيلَ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْکُمْ الشَّهْرُ فَعُدُّوا ثَلَاثِينَ

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا وَرْقَائُ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْکُمْ فَاقْدِرُوا ثَلَاثِينَ

It was narrated that ‘Abdur Rahman bin Zaid bin Al-Khattab addressed the people on the day concerning which there was doubt (as to whether the month had begun) and said: “I sat with the Companions of the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم and asked them, and they narrated that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: ‘Fast when you see it and stop fasting when you see it, and perform the rites on that basis. If it is obscured, then complete thirty days, and if two witnesses testify then fast and stop fasting.” (Sahih)

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: “The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: ‘Fast when you see it and stop fasting when you see it, and if it is obscured from you (too cloudy), then count it as thirty (days).” (Sahih)

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: “The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: ‘Fast when you see it and stop fasting when you see it, and if it is obscured from you (too cloudy), then count it as thirty (days).” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ وَالْحَارِثُ بْنُ مِسْکِينٍ قِرَائَةً عَلَيْهِ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ عَنْ ابْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ مَالِکٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَکَرَ رَمَضَانَ فَقَالَ لَا تَصُومُوا حَتَّی تَرَوْا الْهِلَالَ وَلَا تُفْطِرُوا حَتَّی تَرَوْهُ فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْکُمْ فَاقْدِرُوا لَهُ

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: “When you see the Crescent then fast, and when you See it, stop fasting. If it is obscured from you (too cloudy), then fast thirty days.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا تَصُومُوا حَتَّی تَرَوْهُ وَلَا تُفْطِرُوا حَتَّی تَرَوْهُ فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْکُمْ فَاقْدِرُوا لَهُ

‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم say: ‘When you see the crescent then fast, and when you see it, then stop fasting, and if it is obscured from you (too cloudy), then work it out (from the beginning of the month, to complete thirty days).” (Sahih).

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم mentioned Ramadan and said: “Do not fast until you see the crescent, and do not stop fasting until you see it, and if it is obscured from you (too cloudy), then work it out.” (Sahih)

It was narrated from Ibn Umar that the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: “Do not fast until you see it, and do not stop fasting until you see it, and if it is obscured from you (too cloudy), then work it out.” (sahih)
