أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَی بْنُ وَاصِلِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَی قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَی قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَقَ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا نَسِيتَ الصَّلَاةَ فَصَلِّ إِذَا ذَکَرْتَ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَی يَقُولُ أَقِمْ الصَّلَاةَ لِذِکْرِي قَالَ عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَی حَدَّثَنَا بِهِ يَعْلَی مُخْتَصَرًا

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: If you forget a prayer, pray it when you remember it, for Allah says: “and perform the alah for My remembrance .'' (Sahih)

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: “Whoever forgets a prayer, let him pray it when he remembers it, for Allah says: and perform the alah for My remembrance.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ نَسِيَ صَلَاةً فَلْيُصَلِّهَا إِذَا ذَکَرَهَا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَی يَقُولُ أَقِمْ الصَّلَاةَ لِلذِّکْرَی قُلْتُ لِلزُّهْرِيِّ هَکَذَا قَرَأَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ نَعَمْکَيْفَ يُقْضَی الْفَائِتُ مِنْ الصَّلَاةِ

It was narrated from Ma’mar, from Az-Zuhri, from Saeed bin Al Musayyab, that Abu Hurairah said: “The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: ‘Whoever forgets a prayer, let him pray it when he remembers it, for Allah says: “and perform prayer when you remember (li dhikra).” I said to Az-Zuhri: “Is that how the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم recited it?” He said: “Yes.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا هَنَّادُ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ عَطَائِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ بُرَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ کُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ فَأَسْرَيْنَا لَيْلَةً فَلَمَّا کَانَ فِي وَجْهِ الصُّبْحِ نَزَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَنَامَ وَنَامَ النَّاسُ فَلَمْ يَسْتَيْقِظْ إِلَّا بِالشَّمْسِ قَدْ طَلَعَتْ عَلَيْنَا فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمُؤَذِّنَ فَأَذَّنَ ثُمَّ صَلَّی الرَّکْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْفَجْرِ ثُمَّ أَمَرَهُ فَأَقَامَ فَصَلَّی بِالنَّاسِ ثُمَّ حَدَّثَنَا بِمَا هُوَ کَائِنٌ حَتَّی تَقُومَ السَّاعَةُ

It was narrated from Buraid bin Abi Mariam that his father said: “We were with the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم on a journey, and we kept going one night, then when it was nearly morning the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم dismounted and slept, and the people slept too. We did not wake up until the sun had risen. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم asked the Mu‘adhdhin to call the Adhan, then he prayed the two Rak’ahs before Fajr, then he asked him to say the Iqamah, then he led the people in prayer. Then he told us about everything that will happen until the Hour begins.” (Hasan)

أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ هِشَامٍ الدَّسْتَوَائِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ کُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَحُبِسْنَا عَنْ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَائِ فَاشْتَدَّ ذَلِکَ عَلَيَّ فَقُلْتُ فِي نَفْسِي نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِلَالًا فَأَقَامَ فَصَلَّی بِنَا الظُّهْرَ ثُمَّ أَقَامَ فَصَلَّی بِنَا الْعَصْرَ ثُمَّ أَقَامَ فَصَلَّی بِنَا الْمَغْرِبَ ثُمَّ أَقَامَ فَصَلَّی بِنَا الْعِشَائَ ثُمَّ طَافَ عَلَيْنَا فَقَالَ مَا عَلَی الْأَرْضِ عِصَابَةٌ يَذْکُرُونَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ غَيْرُکُمْ

It was narrated that ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud said: “We were with the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم and we were prevented from praying uhr, ‘Asr, Maghrib and ‘lsha’. I felt very upset about that and I said to myself: ‘We are with the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم and (fighting) for the sake of Allah.’ Then the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم commanded Bilal to say the Iqamah and he led us in praying Zuhr. Then he said the Iqamah and he led us in praying ‘Asr. Then he said the Iqamah and he led us in praying Maghrib. Then he said the Iqamah and he led us in praying ‘Isha’. Then he went around among us and told us: ‘There is no group on Earth who is remembering Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, except you.” (Hasan)

أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ کَيْسَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ عَرَّسْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمْ نَسْتَيْقِظْ حَتَّی طَلَعَتْ الشَّمْسُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِيَأْخُذْ کُلُّ رَجُلٍ بِرَأْسِ رَاحِلَتِهِ فَإِنَّ هَذَا مَنْزِلٌ حَضَرَنَا فِيهِ الشَّيْطَانُ قَالَ فَفَعَلْنَا فَدَعَا بِالْمَائِ فَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ صَلَّی سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ أُقِيمَتْ الصَّلَاةُ فَصَلَّی الْغَدَاةَ

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: “We stopped to camp at the end of the night with the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم, and we did not wake up until the sun had risen. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: ‘Let each man take hold of his camel’s head (and leave), for the Shaitan was here in this place with us.’ We did that, then he called for water and performed Wudu’, then he prayed two Rak’ahs, then the Iqarnah was said and he prayed Al-Ghadah (Fajr).” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ خُشَيْشُ بْنُ أَصْرَمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ حَسَّانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فِي سَفَرٍ لَهُ مَنْ يَکْلَؤُنَا اللَّيْلَةَ لَا نَرْقُدَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ قَالَ بِلَالٌ أَنَا فَاسْتَقْبَلَ مَطْلَعَ الشَّمْسِ فَضُرِبَ عَلَی آذَانِهِمْ حَتَّی أَيْقَظَهُمْ حَرُّ الشَّمْسِ فَقَامُوا فَقَالَ تَوَضَّئُوا ثُمَّ أَذَّنَ بِلَالٌ فَصَلَّی رَکْعَتَيْنِ وَصَلَّوْا رَکْعَتَيْ الْفَجْرِ ثُمَّ صَلَّوْا الْفَجْرَ

It was narrated from Nafi’ bin Jubair, from his father, that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said during a journey: “Who will watch out for dawn for us, so that we do not sleep and miss the dawn prayer?” Bilal said: ‘I will.’ He turned to face the direction where the sun would rise, but they fell fast asleep until the heat of the sun woke them up, then they got up. He said: ‘Perform Wudu’.’ Then Bilal called the Adhan and he prayed two Rak’ahs, and they prayed the two (Sunnah) Rak’ahs of Fajr, then they prayed Fajr.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَبَّانُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَبِيبٌ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ هَرِمٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ أَدْلَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ عَرَّسَ فَلَمْ يَسْتَيْقِظْ حَتَّی طَلَعَتْ الشَّمْسُ أَوْ بَعْضُهَا فَلَمْ يُصَلِّ حَتَّی ارْتَفَعَتْ الشَّمْسُ فَصَلَّی وَهِيَ صَلَاةُ الْوُسْطَی

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said: “The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم set out at nightfall, then Stopped to camp at the end of the night, and he did not wake up until the sun had risen or had partly risen. He did not pray until the sun had risen (fully), then he prayed, and that was the ‘middle prayer’ (Salat Al-Wusta) (Da’if)

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَعِيلَ وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ کَانَ يَقُولُ کَانَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ حِينَ قَدِمُوا الْمَدِينَةَ يَجْتَمِعُونَ فَيَتَحَيَّنُونَ الصَّلَاةَ وَلَيْسَ يُنَادِي بِهَا أَحَدٌ فَتَکَلَّمُوا يَوْمًا فِي ذَلِکَ فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ اتَّخِذُوا نَاقُوسًا مِثْلَ نَاقُوسِ النَّصَارَی وَقَالَ بَعْضَهُمْ بَلْ قَرْنًا مِثْلَ قَرْنِ الْيَهُودِ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَوَلَا تَبْعَثُونَ رَجُلًا يُنَادِي بِالصَّلَاةِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا بِلَالُ قُمْ فَنَادِ بِالصَّلَاةِ

Nafi’ narrated that ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar used to say: “When the Muslims arrived in Al-Madinah they used to gather and try to figure out the time for prayer, and no one gave the call to prayer. One day they spoke about that; some of them said: ‘Let us use a bell like the Christians do;’ others said, ‘No, a horn like the Jews have.’ ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: ‘Why don’t you send a man to announce the time of prayer?’ The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: ‘Bilal, get up and give the call to prayer.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ بِلَالًا أَنْ يَشْفَعَ الْأَذَانَ وَأَنْ يُوتِرَ الْإِقَامَةَ

It was narrated that Anas said: “The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم commanded Bilal to say the phrases of the Adhan twice and the phrases of the Iqamah once.” (Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُثَنَّی عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ کَانَ الْأَذَانُ عَلَی عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَثْنَی مَثْنَی وَالْإِقَامَةُ مَرَّةً مَرَّةً إِلَّا أَنَّکَ تَقُولُ قَدْ قَامَتْ الصَّلَاةُ قَدْ قَامَتْ الصَّلَاةُ

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said: “At the time of the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم the phrases of the Ad were said twice and the phrases of the Iqamah were said once, except that you should say: ‘Qad Qamatis-Salah, Qad Qamatis-Salah (prayer is about to begin, prayer is about to begin).”(Sahih)

أَخْبَرَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِکِ بْنِ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ وَجَدِّي عَبْدُ الْمَلِکِ عَنْ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَقْعَدَهُ فَأَلْقَی عَلَيْهِ الْأَذَانَ حَرْفًا حَرْفًا قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ هُوَ مِثْلُ أَذَانِنَا هَذَا قُلْتُ لَهُ أَعِدْ عَلَيَّ قَالَ اللَّهُ أَکْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَکْبَرُ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَالَ بِصَوْتٍ دُونَ ذَلِکَ الصَّوْتِ يُسْمِعُ مَنْ حَوْلَهُ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ مَرَّتَيْنِ أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ حَيَّ عَلَی الصَّلَاةِ مَرَّتَيْنِ حَيَّ عَلَی الْفَلَاحِ مَرَّتَيْنِ اللَّهُ أَکْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَکْبَرُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ

It was narrated from Abu Mahdhurah that the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم sat him down and taught him the Adhan letter by letter. (One of the narrators) Ibrahim said: “It is like this Adhan of ours.” I said: “Recite it to me.” He said: “Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest), Ashhadu an Ia ilaha illallah (I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah) — twice, Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasalallah (I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) — twice. Then he said in a lower voice which those around him could hear: Ashhadu an Ia ilaha ill-Allah (I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah) — twice, Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasillallah (I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) — twice, Jayya ‘ala as-salah (come to prayer) — twice, Hayya ‘alal-falah (come to prosperity) — twice, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, lailaha illallah (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, there is none worthy of Worship except Allah).
