قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ فِي كِتَابِهِ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ، قَالَ: إِنَّمَا وَرِثَ أَبَا طَالِبٍ عَقِيلٌ وَطَالِبٌ. وَلَمْ يَرِثْهُ عَلِيٌّ وَلا جَعْفَرٌ، قَالَ: فَلِذَلِكَ تَرَكْنَا نَصِيبَنَا مِنَ الشِّعْبِ. أَخْرَجَ الأَوَّلَ مِنْ كِتَابِ الرِّسَالَةِ، وَالثَّانِيَ مِنْ كِتَابِ الطَّعَامِ وَالشَّرَابِ وَعِمَارَةِ الأَرْضِينَ مِمَّا لَمْ يَسْمَعِ الرَّبِيعُ مِنَ الشَّافِعِيِّ.

Al-Shafi’i said in his book: Malik, on the authority of Ibn Shihab, told us about Ali bin Hussein, he said: He inherited only Abel Tal.
