قَالَ الأَصَمُّ: سَمِعْتُ الرَّبِيعَ يَقُولُ: مَاتَ الشَّافِعِيُّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ سَنَةَ أَرْبَعٍ وَمِائَتَيْنِ فِي آخِرِ يَوْمٍ مِنْ رَجَبٍ، وَسُئِلَ عَنْ سِنِّهِ، فَقَالَ: نَيِّفٌ وَخَمْسُونَ سَنَةً. أَخْرَجَهُ مِنْ كِتَابِ الصَّيْدِ.

The Deaf said: I heard the spring say: Al-Shafi’i, may God be pleased with him, died four and two hundred years in the last day of Rukn, Sun, Sunnah, and Sunnah Take it out of the hunting book.
