أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَی قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ قَالَ قَالَ الشَّعْبِيُّ عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ قَدْ خَيَّرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نِسَائَهُ فَلَمْ يَکُنْ طَلَاقًا
سنن نسائی · Hadith 3475
It was narrated that ‘Aishah said: “When the following was revealed: ‘But if you desire Allah and His Messenger,’ the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم came and started with me. He said: ‘‘Aishah, I am going to say something to you and you do not have to rush (to make a decision) until you consult your parents.” She said: “He knew, by Allah, that my parents would never tell me to leave him. Then he recited to me: ‘Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم! Say to your wives: If you desire the life of this world, and its glitter.” “I said: ‘Do I need to consult my parents concerning this? I desire Allah and His Messenger.” (Sahih) Abu ‘Abdur-Rahman (An-Nasa’i) said: This is a mistake, and the first is more worthy of being correct. And Allah, Glorious is He and Most High, knows best.
