حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ سَالِمٍ أَبُو جَهْضَمٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَبْدًا مَأْمُورًا بَلَّغَ وَاللَّهِ مَا أُرْسِلَ بِهِ وَمَا اخْتَصَّنَا دُونَ النَّاسِ بِشَيْءٍ لَيْسَ ثَلَاثًا أَمَرَنَا أَنْ نُسْبِغَ الْوُضُوءَ وَأَنْ لَا نَأْكُلَ الصَّدَقَةَ وَأَنْ لَا نُنْزِيَ حِمَارًا عَلَى فَرَسٍ قَالَ مُوسَى فَلَقِيتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ حَسَنٍ فَقُلْتُ إِنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي كَذَا وَكَذَا فَقَالَ إِنَّ الْخَيْلَ كَانَتْ فِي بَنِي هَاشِمٍ قَلِيلَةً فَأَحَبَّ أَنْ تَكْثُرَ فِيهِمْ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 1977
'Abdullah bin 'Ubaidullah bin 'Abbas narrated that he heard Ibn 'Abbas say: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was an obedient slave; he conveyed - by Allah - what he was sent with and he did not tell us anything in exclusion to the people, except for three things: He instructed us to do wudoo' properly, not to consume charity and not to breed a donkey with a mare. Moosa said: I met 'Abdullah bin Hasan and said: 'Abdullah bin 'Ubaidullah told me such and such. He said: Horses were few among Banu Hashim, and he wanted to increase their numbers.
