حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمَنَامِ بِنِصْفِ النَّهَارِ أَشْعَثَ أَغْبَرَ مَعَهُ قَارُورَةٌ فِيهَا دَمٌ يَلْتَقِطُهُ أَوْ يَتَتَبَّعُ فِيهَا شَيْئًا قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا هَذَا قَالَ دَمُ الْحُسَيْنِ وَأَصْحَابِهِ لَمْ أَزَلْ أَتَتَبَّعُهُ مُنْذُ الْيَوْمَ قَالَ عَمَّارٌ فَحَفِظْنَا ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ فَوَجَدْنَاهُ قُتِلَ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 2165
It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said: I saw the Prophet (PBUH) in a dream when I slept in the middle of the day; {he appeared) dishevelled and dusty, and he had with him a bottle in which there was blood that he was picking up or something that he was putting in it. I said: O Messenger of Allah, what is this? He said: "The blood of al-Husain and his companions; i have been collecting it all day." 'Ammar said: We remembered that day, and we found out that he had been killed on that day.
