حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ وَحَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْمَعْنَى قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ لَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا قَدْ رَفَعَهُ قَالَ كَانَ إِذَا نَزَلَ مَنْزِلًا فَأَعْجَبَهُ الْمَنْزِلُ أَخَّرَ الظُّهْرَ حَتَّى يَجْمَعَ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ وَإِذَا سَارَ وَلَمْ يَتَهَيَّأْ لَهُ الْمَنْزِلُ أَخَّرَ الظُّهْرَ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَ الْمَنْزِلَ فَيَجْمَعَ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ قَالَ حَسَنٌ كَانَ إِذَا سَافَرَ أَلِنَزَلَ مَنْزِلًا
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 2191
It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas (RA) - I think he attributed it to the Prophet (PBUH)- said; If he halted in a place and liked the place he had halted, he would delay Zuhr so that he could put Zuhr and 'Asr together. If he was travelling and did not find a place to halt, he would delay Zuhr until he came to a halting place, then he would put Zuhr and 'Asr together.
