حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ نَافِعٍ أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ ابْنُهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَظَهْرُهُ فِي الدَّارِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي لَا آمَنُ أَنْ يَكُونَ الْعَامَ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ قِتَالٌ فَتُصَدَّ عَنْ الْبَيْتِ فَلَوْ أَقَمْتَ فَقَالَ قَدْ خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَحَالَ كُفَّارُ قُرَيْشٍ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْبَيْتِ فَإِنْ يُحَلْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ أَفْعَلْ كَمَا فَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ قَالَ إِنِّي قَدْ أَوْجَبْتُ عُمْرَةً ثُمَّ سَارَ حَتَّى إِذَا كَانَ بِالْبَيْدَاءِ قَالَ مَا أَرَى أَمْرَهُمَا إِلَّا وَاحِدًا أُشْهِدُكُمْ أَنِّي قَدْ أَوْجَبْتُ مَعَ عُمْرَتِي حَجًّا ثُمَّ قَدِمَ فَطَافَ لَهُمَا طَوَافًا وَاحِدًا
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4480
It was narrated from Naafi' that Ibn 'Umar's son 'Abdullah ibn 'Abdullah entered upon him when his riding animal was at the bouse. He said: i fear that there will be fighting among the people this year and you may be prevented from reaching the House [the Ka'bah]. Why don't you stay here.’ Ibn 'Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) set out (for 'Umrah) and the kuffaar of Quraysh prevented him from reaching the House; if they prevent me from reaching it, I shall do what the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) did. And he said: "Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad SAW) you have a good example to follow" [al-Ahzaab 33:21], He said: I have decided to do 'Umrah. Then he travelled until, when he was in al-Bayda', he said: i think that they are the same; i ask you to bear witness that I have decided to do Hajj along with my Umrah Then he came and did one tawaaf (circumambulation of the Ka'bah) for both.
