حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا يَلْبَسُ الْمُحْرِمُ مِنْ الثِّيَابِ وَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ مَرَّةً مَا يَتْرُكُ الْمُحْرِمُ مِنْ الثِّيَابِ فَقَالَ لَا يَلْبَسُ الْقَمِيصَ وَلَا الْبُرْنُسَ وَلَا السَّرَاوِيلَ وَلَا الْعِمَامَةَ وَلَا ثَوْبًا مَسَّهُ الْوَرْسُ وَلَا الزَّعْفَرَانُ وَلَا الْخُفَّيْنِ إِلَّا لِمَنْ لَا يَجِدُ نَعْلَيْنِ فَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ النَّعْلَيْنِ فَلْيَلْبَسْ الْخُفَّيْنِ وَلْيَقْطَعْهُمَا حَتَّى يَكُونَا أَسْفَلَ مِنْ الْكَعْبَيْنِ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4538
It was narrated from Saalim from his father who said: a man asked the Messenger of Allah (PBUH): What clothes can the muhrim (pilgrim in ihram) wear? On one occasion Sufyaan said: What clothes should the muhrim avoid? He said: "He should not wear a chemise, a burnoose, pants, a head cover or any garment that has been dyed with wars or saffron." And he should not wear khufoof, except for one who cannot find sandals. Whoever cannot find sandals may wear khufoof, but lie should cut them so that they come lower than the ankle.
