حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ مُوسَى عَنْ نَافِعٍ خَرَجَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ يُرِيدُ الْعُمْرَةَ فَأَخْبَرُوهُ أَنَّ بِمَكَّةَ أَمْرًا فَقَالَ أُهِلُّ بِالْعُمْرَةِ فَإِنْ حُبِسْتُ صَنَعْتُ كَمَا صَنَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَهَلَّ بِالْعُمْرَةِ فَلَمَّا سَارَ قَلِيلًا وَهُوَ بِالْبَيْدَاءِ قَالَ مَا سَبِيلُ الْعُمْرَةِ إِلَّا سَبِيلُ الْحَجِّ أُوجِبُ حَجًّا وَقَالَ أُشْهِدُكُمْ أَنِّي قَدْ أَوْجَبْتُ حَجًّا فَإِنَّ سَبِيلَ الْحَجِّ سَبِيلُ الْعُمْرَةِ فَقَدِمَ مَكَّةَ فَطَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ سَبْعًا وَبَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ سَبْعًا وَقَالَ هَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَعَلَ أَتَى قُدَيْدًا فَاشْتَرَى هَدْيًا فَسَاقَهُ مَعَهُ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4595
It was narrated from Naafi' that Ibn 'Umar wanted to do 'Umrah, but they told him that something was happening in Makkah- He said; I shall enter ihram for 'Umrah, then if I am prevented (from continuing) I shall do what the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) did. So he entered ihram for 'Umrah, then when he had travelled a little way and was in al-Bayda', he said: If this applies to 'Umrah it also applies to Hajj; i commit myself to doing Hajj. And he said: I ask you to bear witness that I have committed myself to doing Hajj, for the same applies to Hajj as to 'Umrah. Then he came to Makkah and circumambulated the House (the Ka'bah) seven times, and he went between as-Safa and al-Marwah seven times, and he said: This is what i saw the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) do. He came to Qudayd and bought a sacrificial animal, and he brought it with him.
