حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَامَلَ أَهْلَ خَيْبَرَ بِشَطْرِ مَا خَرَجَ مِنْ زَرْعٍ أَوْ تَمْرٍ فَكَانَ يُعْطِي أَزْوَاجَهُ كُلَّ عَامٍ مِائَةَ وَسْقٍ وَثَمَانِينَ وَسْقًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ وَعِشْرِينَ وَسْقًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ فَلَمَّا قَامَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ قَسَمَ خَيْبَرَ فَخَيَّرَ أَزْوَاجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُقْطِعَ لَهُنَّ مِنْ الْأَرْضِ أَوْ يَضْمَنَ لَهُنَّ الْوُسُوقَ كُلَّ عَامٍ فَاخْتَلَفُوا فَمِنْهُنَّ مَنْ اخْتَارَ أَنْ يُقْطِعَ لَهَا الْأَرْضَ وَمِنْهُنَّ مَنْ اخْتَارَ الْوُسُوقَ وَكَانَتْ حَفْصَةُ وَعَائِشَةُ مِمَّنْ اخْتَارَ الْوُسُوقَ

It was narrated from lbn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) made a deal with the people of Khaybar for half of the crops or dates, and he used to give his wives one hundred wasqs each year: eighty wasqs of dates and twenty' wasqs of barley. When 'Umar ibn al-Khattab became caliph, he divided Khaybar and gave the wives of the Prophet (PBUH) the choice between having a share of the land allocated to them or being guaranteed the wasqs every year. They differed; some of them chose to be allocated a share of the land and some of them chose the wasqs. Hafsah and 'Aa'ishah were among those who chose the wasqs.
