حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِيمَا يَلْبَسُ الْمُحْرِمُ مِنْ الثِّيَابِ قَالَ لَا تَلْبَسُوا الْقُمُصَ وَلَا الْعَمَائِمَ وَلَا الْبَرَانِسَ وَلَا السَّرَاوِيلَاتِ وَلَا الْخِفَافَ إِلَّا مَنْ لَا يَجِدُ نَعْلَيْنِ فَيَقْطَعُهُمَا أَسْفَلَ مِنْ الْكَعْبَيْنِ وَلَا تَلْبَسُوا مِنْ الثِّيَابِ مَا مَسَّهُ وَرْسٌ أَوْ زَعْفَرَانٌ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5308
It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Prophet (PBUH) said, concerning what the muhrim (pilgrim in hram) may wear: "They should not wear chemises, head covers, burnooses, pants or khufoof, except one who cannot find sandals, in which case he should cut them (the khufoof) lower than the ankles. And they should not wear any garment that has been touched by wars (memocylon tinctorium, a plant dye) or saltron.
