حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الشَّهْرُ تِسْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ وَطَبَّقَ شُعْبَةُ يَدَيْهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَكَسَرَ الْإِبْهَامَ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ قَالَ عُقْبَةُ وَأَحْسِبُهُ قَالَ وَالشَّهْرُ ثَلَاثُونَ وَطَبَّقَ كَفَّيْهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5484
It was narrated from Uqbah ibn Hurayth: I heard Ibn Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "The month is twenty nine," and Shu'bah pat his hands together three times, and tucked away his thumb on the third time 'Uqbah said: And I think he said: "The month is thirty.” and he put his hands together three times.
