حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ مَعَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُطِيعٍ فَقَالَ مَرْحَبًا بِأَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ضَعُوا لَهُ وِسَادَةً فَقَالَ إِنَّمَا جِئْتُكَ لِأُحَدِّثَكَ حَدِيثًا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ نَزَعَ يَدًا مَنْ طَاعَةِ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّهُ يَأْتِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لَا حُجَّةَ لَهُ وَمَنْ مَاتَ وَهُوَ مَفَارِقٌ لِلْجَمَاعَةِ فَإِنَّهُ يَمُوتُ مِيتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5551
It was narrated from Zayd ibn Aslam that his father said: Ibn 'Umar and I entered upon 'Abdullah ibn Mutee', who said: Welcome to Abu 'Abd ar-Rahmaan; set out a pillow for him. He said: I have only come to you to narrate to you a hadeeth that I heard from the Messenger of Allah (PBUH). I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say: "Whoever withdraws his hand from obedience to Allah (i.e., rebels against the ruler) will meet Allah on the Day of Resurrection with no justification for his action and whoever dies having separated from the main body of the Muslims has died a death of jaahiliyyah (ignorance)."
