حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَنْبَأَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فِي الْجَدِّ أَمَّا الَّذِي قَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَوْ كُنْتُ مُتَّخِذًا مِنْ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ خَلِيلًا لَاتَّخَذْتُهُ فَإِنَّهُ قَضَاهُ أَبًا يَعْنِي أَبَا بَكْرٍ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 3385
It was narrated that'lkrimah said: Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said concerning the (share of inheritance of the) grandfather: As for the one to whom the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "If I were to take any one among this ummah as a close friend, I would have taken him as a close friend [i.e., Abu Bakr]’ he ruled that he should be given the share of the father (if the father is dead).
