سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَلَمَۃَ، قَالَ: قَدِمَ مُعَاوِیَۃُ الْمَدِینَۃَ فَبَیْنَا ھُوَ عَلَی الْمِنْبَرِ إِذْ قَال:یَا کَثِیرُ بْنَ الصَّلْتِ، اذْھَبْ إِلَی عَائِشَۃَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ فَسَلْھَا عَنْ صَلاۃِ النَّبِیُّ صَلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْہِ وَسَلَّمَ الرَّکْعَتَیْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ، قَالَ أَبُو سَلَمَۃَ:فَذَھَبَ مَعَہُ، وَیَعَثَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَبْدَ اللہِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ نَوْفَلِ مَعَنَا۔ فَقَالَ:اذْھَبْ وَاسْمَعْ مَا تَقُولُ أُمُّ الْمُؤْمِنِینِ۔ قَالَ: فَجَاءَ ھَا فَسأَلَھَا، فَقَالَتْ لَہُ عَائِشَۃُ: لا عِلْمَ لِی وَلَکِنِ اذْھَبْ إِلَی أُمِّ سَلَمَۃَ فَسَلْھَا۔ قَالَ: فَذَھَبْتُ مَعَہُ إِلَی أُمِّ سَلَمَۃَ فَقَالَتْ: دَخَلَ عَلَیَّ رَسُولُ اللہُ صَلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْہِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ یَوْمِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ، فَصَلَّی عِبْدِی رَکْعَتَیْنِ لَمْ أَکُنْ أَرَاہُ یُصَلِّھِمَا۔ فَقُلْتُ:یَا رَسُولَ اللہِ، لَقَدْ صَلَّیْتَ صَلاۃً لَمْ أَکُنْ أَرَاکَ تُصَلِّیھِمَا۔ فَقَالَ:((إِنِّی کُنْتُ أُصَلِّی الرَّکْعَتَینِ بَعْدَ الظُّھْرِ، وَإِنَّہُ قَدِمَ عَلَیَّ وَفْدُ بَنِی تَمِیمٍ أَوْ صَدَقَۃٌ فَشَغَلُونِی عَنْھُمَا، فَھُمَا ھَاتَان الرَّکْعَتَان))۔أَخْرَجَ الأَوَّلَ مِنْ کِتَابِ الْعِئدَیْنِ وَالشَّانِیَ مِنَ الْجُزْءِ الشَّانِی مِنَ اخْتِلافِ الْحَدِیثِِ
