Abu Hurayrah's narrations reach us through a vast network of teachers and students. He learned directly from the Prophet ﷺ and from senior companions, and in turn became the teacher of hundreds of Tabi'un — the generation whose preservation of his narrations forms the backbone of the major Hadith collections.

Abu Hurayrah learned directly from the Prophet ﷺ during his three years of close companionship, and supplemented his knowledge by studying with senior Sahaba in Madinah.
هجَّرتُ إلى رسولِ اللهِ
رَسُولِ اللَّهِ
رَجُل’‘: اللَٔھُمَٔ اغْفِرً لِيْ وَلِمُحَمَٔدٍ وَحْدَنَا، فَقَالَ النَٔبِئُ ((لَقَدْ حَجَبْتَھَا
الرَّجُلُ: اللَّھُمَّ إِنَّيْ أَعُوْذُبِکَ مَنْ جَھْدِ الْبَلاءِ ثُمَّ یَسْکُتُ فَاإِذَا
رسولِ اللهِ «الخيرُ كثيرٌ وقليلٌ فاعِلُهُ»
[ص:602] أبو بكر سميتموه صديقا وأصبتم اسمه
رسول اللہﷺ(لم یفقہ من قرأ القرآن فی أقلً من ثلاث)۔
أَبُوْبَکْرِ للِنَّبِيَّ عَلَّمْنِيْ دُعَاءً أَدْعُوْبِہِ فَيْ صَلَاتِیْ
أتَيتُ النبيَّ ذاتَ يومٍ وعليَّ ثَوبانِ مُعصفَرانِ،
رَآني النبيُّ يوماً وعليَّ ثوبانِ مُعصفَرانِ،
جاءَ رجلانِ يختَصمانِ إلى عَمرو بنِ العاصِ في دمِ عمارٍ وسَلَبِهِ
لا أزالُ أُحبُّ عبدَاللهِ بنَ مسعودٍ منذُ
خرجَ عَلينا رسولُ اللهِ ونحنُ نَتنازعُ في آيةٍ مِن القرآنِ، فسألَنا
