Abu Hurayrah's narrations reach us through a vast network of teachers and students. He learned directly from the Prophet ﷺ and from senior companions, and in turn became the teacher of hundreds of Tabi'un — the generation whose preservation of his narrations forms the backbone of the major Hadith collections.

Abu Hurayrah learned directly from the Prophet ﷺ during his three years of close companionship, and supplemented his knowledge by studying with senior Sahaba in Madinah.

العتبيقال كان يقال السؤدد الصبر على الذل

يونس بن حبيبقال أوصى حبيش بن زهير النمر بن قاسط
بِشْرٌ،
يَزِيدُ بْنُ الْمُهَلَّبِ لِابْنِهِ مَخْلَدٍ حِينَ وَلَّاهُ جُرْجَانَ: اسْتَطْرِفْ كَاتِبَكَ، وَاسْتَعْطِرْ حَاجِبَكَ.
قِيلَ لأَعْرَابِيٍّ: مَا أَسْمَنَكَ؟
الأصمعيقال دخلت بعض الخيام فإذا
[ص:145] كَانَ يُقَالُ: عَقْلُ الرَّجُلِ مَدْفُونٌ فِي لِسَانِهِ.

[ص:57] لَمَّا احْتَضَرَ امْرُؤُ الْقَيْسِ بِأَنْقَرَةَ؛ نَظَرَ إِلَى قَبْرٍ، فَسَأَلَ عَنْهُ،
سُئِلَ رَجُلٌ
وَقَفَتْ أَعْرَابِيَّةٌ عَلَى قَبْرِ ابْنِهَا؛
لما احتضر امرئ الْقَيْسِ بِأَنْقَرَةَ؛ نَظَرَ إِلَى قَبْرٍ، فَسَأَلَ عَنْهُ،
يحيى بن سليم فذكره وهذا اختلاف ثالث
أبي عبيدة( فَهُم مُقمَحُونَ يس
الأصمعييقول عادَ قومٌ مريضاً في بني يشكر فأطالوا عنده
