Abu Hurayrah's narrations reach us through a vast network of teachers and students. He learned directly from the Prophet ﷺ and from senior companions, and in turn became the teacher of hundreds of Tabi'un — the generation whose preservation of his narrations forms the backbone of the major Hadith collections.

Abu Hurayrah learned directly from the Prophet ﷺ during his three years of close companionship, and supplemented his knowledge by studying with senior Sahaba in Madinah.
فِي رَجُلٍ
ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَی
أبو حنيفة
وَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ
سَأَلْتُ أَبَا حَنِيفَةَ
القرآن كلام الله من
أَبَا حَنِيفَةَ
كان إبراهيم بن أدهم إذا سئل
«يَا أَخِي وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَنْ تَنْقَطِعَ إِلَيْهِ في آخِرِ عُمُرِكَ فَتَخْدِمُهُ»
«الْعِلْمُ بِالْكَلَامِ جَهْلٌ وَالْجَهْلُ بِالْكَلَامِ هُوَ الْعِلْمُ»
ما رأيت أحداً أعلم بتفسير الحديث من أبي حنيفة.
سفيان الثوري أكثر متابعة لأبي حنيفة مني.
كان أبو حنيفة لا يرى أن يروي من الحديث إلا ما حفظه
مات أبو حنيفة عليه- في النصف من شوال سنة خمسين ومائة.
وددت أن لي مجلساً من أبي حنيفة بكذا وكذا
ما صليت صلاة مذ عرفت أبا حنيفة إلا استغفرت له مع والدي
كلما قلناه بعد أبي حنيفة مما ليس عندنا فيه شيء
أنبأ أبو حنيفة،
«مَنْ طَلَبَ الْمَالَ بِالْكِيمِيَاءِ أَفْلَسَ وَمَنْ طَلَبَ الدِّينَ بِالْكَلَامِ تَزَنْدَقَ»
«الْعِلْمُ بِالْكَلَامِ يَدْعُو إِلَى الزَّنْدَقَةِ»
