Abu Hurayrah learned directly from the Prophet ﷺ during his three years of close companionship, and supplemented his knowledge by studying with senior Sahaba in Madinah.

رَجَاءٌ فَكُنْتُ قَدْ نَسِيتُهُ لَوْلَا أَنَّهُ كَانَ عِنْدِي مَكْتُوبًا
فَقُلْتُ إِنَّهُ يُرْفَعُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ
مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ
عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ وَابْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ
عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ
فَسَأَلَهُ
من فراخ البر أنت أو من فراخ الآجام قلت من فراخ البر
أهابك أن أسألك عنه
أَبِي أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ كَذَا وَكَذَا حَدِيثٍ مِنْ غَيْرِهِ
عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ،قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِلْمِقْدَادِ، فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ.
عَلِىِّ بْنِ أَبِى طَالِبٍقَالَ قُلْتُ لِلْمِقْدَادِ. فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ.
رَجَاءٌ: فَكُنْتُ قَدْ نَسِيتُهُ, لَوْلاَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ عِنْدِي مَكْتُوبًا. (الإتحاف: (البشائر:

«قَدْ طَالَ عَهْدِي بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ، فَمِنْ أَيْنَ جِئْتَ بِهِ؟» قُلْتُ:
لابن المختار ترى أحدا من أصحاب الحديث فغمض عينيه
يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ،
لِي: اكْتُبْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ، فَإِنَّ أَهْلَ الْعِرَاقِ يَسْتَطْرِفُونَهُ وَيَسْأَلُونَنِي عَنْهُ كَثِيرًا
مِنْ صَاحِبِ هَذَا الْقَبْرِ يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ
مِنْ صَاحِبِ هَذَا الْقَبْرِ يَعْنِي: النَّبِيَّ
فقلت انه يرفع إلى النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم
به، فسأله
شُعْبَةُ،
به عبد الله بن جعفر، فذكره (6).فأمر به وهو للوجوب.
إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْخَطْمِيُّ،
مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ يحدثني به فقال أنشدك الله أسمعت النَّبِيَّ
