Abu Hurayrah learned directly from the Prophet ﷺ during his three years of close companionship, and supplemented his knowledge by studying with senior Sahaba in Madinah.
بَيْنَ السَّائِلِ وَبَيْنَ النَّبِيِّ
ابْنُ عُمَرَ سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ
مَثْنَی مَثْنَی وَالْوِتْرُ رَکْعَةٌ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ
مَثْنَی مَثْنَی فَإِنْ خَشِيَ أَحَدُکُمْ الصُّبْحَ فَلْيُوتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ
مثنى مثنى فإذا خشيت الصبح فأوتر بركعة رواه مسلم في الصحيح

يَحْيَى بْنِ يَحْيَى وَرَوَاهُ الْبُخَارِيُّ

"صلاة الليل مثنى مثنى، فإذا خشيت الصبح فأوتر بواحدة":أخبرناه أبو عبد الله الحافظ،

مَثْنَى مَثْنَى.
«مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيَ الصُّبْحُ فَبِوَاحِدَةَ تُوتِرُ لَكَ قَبْلَهَا»
يُصَلِّي أَحَدُكُمْ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى، فَإِذَا خَشِيَ الصُّبْحَ صَلَّى ركعة توتر له صلاته.
مَثْنَى مَثْنَى، فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَوَاحِدَةً.
«مَثْنَى مَثْنَى فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَوَاحِدَةٌ» [ص:1102]
