Abu Hurayrah learned directly from the Prophet ﷺ during his three years of close companionship, and supplemented his knowledge by studying with senior Sahaba in Madinah.

جاء الأشعث بن سوار إلى الأعمش فسأله
الأعمش فذكره بإسناده و معناه و رواه مسلم

عَاصِمٌ يَعْنِي الْأَحْوَلَ [ص:1341]: أُتِيتُ بِرَجُلٍ قَدْ سَبَّ عُثْمَانَ،
