He learned directly from the Prophet ﷺ and from senior companions, and in turn became the teacher of hundreds of Tabi'un — the generation whose preservation of his narrations forms the backbone of the major Hadith collections.

Abu Hurayrah learned directly from the Prophet ﷺ during his three years of close companionship, and supplemented his knowledge by studying with senior Sahaba in Madinah.
سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ
قُلْتُ
رَسُولِ اللَّهِ
النَّبِيِّ مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ أَبِي
وَحَدَّثَنِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ
رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُ
النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم
سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ
مَنْ
تَطَاوَلَ النَّاسُ فِي الْبِنَاءِ فِي زَمَنِ عُمَرَ
النَّبِیِّ بمثلہ۔
الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الصَّبَّاحِ
النَّبِيِّ بِنَحْوِهِ
النَّبِيِّ بِهَذَا الْمَعْنَی
سئل رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم
زاره روح بن زنباع فوجده ينقي الشعير لفرسه وحوله أهله
مَنْ قَرَأَ عَشْرَ آيَاتٍ فِي لَيْلَةٍ لَمْ يُكْتَبْ مِنْ الْغَافِلِينَ

يعقوب بن سفيانهذا خطأ ابن موهب لم يسمع من تميم ولا لحقه
قِيلَ لِلنَّبِيِّ إِنَّ قَوْمًا يَجُبُّونَ أَسْنِمَةَ الإِبِلِ وَيَقْطَعُونَ أَذْنَابَ الْغَنَمِ
تَطَاوَلَ النَّاسُ فِي الْبُنْيَانِ زَمَنَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ
أَوَّلُ مَا يُحَاسَبُ بِهِ الْعَبْدُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ صَلَاتُهُ الْمَكْتُوبَةُ،
هذا الحديث كما ذكره فهد
النَّبِیِّ اَنَّہٗ
أَبِي إِدْرِيسَ الْخَوْلَانِيِّ،

أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْحَافِظُ
عُثْمَانَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ،
النَّبِيِّ عَلَيْهِ الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ
النَّبِيِّ مِثْلَهُ، وَقَالَ: «الدِّينُ النَّصِيحَةُ» ثَلَاثًا
النَّبِيِّ إِنَّمَا الدِّينُ النَّصِيحَةُ،
سألت رسول الله ثم
النَّبِيِّ (الدِّينُ النَّصِيحَةُ قَالَهَا ثَلاثًا) الْحَدِيثُ رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ
