He learned directly from the Prophet ﷺ and from senior companions, and in turn became the teacher of hundreds of Tabi'un — the generation whose preservation of his narrations forms the backbone of the major Hadith collections.

Abu Hurayrah learned directly from the Prophet ﷺ during his three years of close companionship, and supplemented his knowledge by studying with senior Sahaba in Madinah.
رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ
أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ،أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ كَانَ إِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ طَعَامِهِ
أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ،
عَلْقَمَةَ
عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُغَفَّلٍ الْمُزَنِيُّ
عَلْقَمَةَ،قَالَ:
إِبْرَاهِيمَ طَيْسَلَةُ بْنُ صَدَقَةَ.
سِمَاكٍ،
يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَوْسٍ
عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ الْمُزَنِيِّ،قَالَ:
أبي داود في هذا الإسناد
ابن عباس يغطون رؤوسهم ساء ظنه بقومه بأضيافه بسواد
أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّأَنَّ النَّبِيَّ كَانَ إِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ طَعَامِهِ
مَالِكٍ،
مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ
إِبْرَاهِيمَ،
عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَبُيدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ
يَحْيَی بْنُ سَعِيدٍ
عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ
مِنْهُ، كَمَا
«مَنْ قَرَّبَ الْمَوْتَ مِنْ قَلْبِهِ اسْتَكْثَرَ مَا فِي يَدَيْهِ»
إِبْرَاهِيمَ مِثْلَ قَوْلِ الْحَسَنِ

سُفْيَانَ،
عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ الْمُزَنِيِّقَالَ:
قَامَ فِينَا رَسُولُ اللهِ
سفيان: مالك بن خالد ورواه شريك،
أبي الحريش: على صدره.
أبي كثير: "الخمر".ولم يقل: "إنما"

الجنيد إنما هو سكون القلب إلى موعود الله عز و جل

ابنِ عباسٍ: يُغَطُّونَ رُؤُوسهُم. ساءَ ظنُّه بقومِهِ. بأضيافِهِ. بسوادٍ. أرْجِعُ.
ثُمَامَةَ بْنِ عَبد اللَّهِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، ولاَ نعلمُ أَحَدًا
عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ الْمُزَنِيِّ، وَكَانَ أَحَدَ النَّفَرِ الَّذِينَ نَزَلَ فِيهِمْ:

عَطَاءٍ يَرْفَعُهُ الرَّهْنُ بِمَا فِيهِ
