حدثنا حميد قال أبو عبيد : وكذلك حدثوني ، عن أبي إسحاق الفزاري ، أنه كان بالثغر يأمرهم إذا أرادوا اتخاذ الخل من العصير ، أن يلقوا فيه شيئا من خل ساعة يعصر ، فتدخله حموضة الخل قبل أن ينش ، فلا يعود خمرا أبدا .

وإنما فعل الصالحون هذا كله ، تنزها عن الانتفاع بشيء من الخمر ، بعد أن يستحكم مرة خمرا ، فإذا آلت إلى الخل . وما علمت أحدا من الماضين رخص لمسلم ، ولا أفتاه بتخليل الخمر ، إلا شيئا يروى عن الحارث العكلي

. حدثنا حميد قال أبو عبيد : وإنما هذا شيء يتخذه أهل الشام من أهل الكتاب ، من عصير العنب ، فيبتاعه المسلمون مريا لا يدرون كيف كان قبل ذلك . وهذا كقول عمر : ولا بأس على من أصاب خلا من أهل الكتاب ، أن يبتاعه ما لم يعلم أنهم تعمدوا إفسادها . أفلا تراه ، إنما رخص لأهل الكتاب دون أهل الإسلام . وكذلك فعل عامل عمر بن عبد العزيز الذي ذكرناه ، حين ألقى في خمر أهل السواد ماء ، إنما فعله بخمر أهل الذمة ، ولا يجوز في خمر المسلمين من هذا شيء
