حدثنا أبي رحمه الله، وقتيبة بن سعيدٍ، وصالح ابن عبد الله، ونصر بن عليٍّ الجهضمي، ويوسف بن موسى القطان، وإسماعيل بن نصر، وابن أبي ميسرة المكي، وعبد الصمد بن سليمان، ومحمد بن أيوب السمناني، قالوا: حدثنا محمد بن عبد الله بن يزيد بن خنيسٍ المكي، قال: دخلنا على سفيان الثوري بمكة نعوده، فدخل عليه سعيد بن حسان القرشي، فقال له سفيان: أعد علي الحديث الذي حدثتنيه، فقال: نعم، حدثتني أم صالحٍ، عن صفية بنت شيبة، عن أم حبيبة، قالت: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: ((كلام ابن آدم كله عليه لا له، إلا أمراً بمعروف، أو نهياً عن منكرٍ، أو ذكر الله)).فاللسان ترجمان القلب، يؤدي إلى القلوب علم ما فيه من طريق الإسماع يعبره باللسان، فيرمي به إلى الأسماع، فيولج القلوب، إن خيراً فخير، وإن شراً فشر.ولهذا ما روي عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: أنه قال: ((الأذنان قمعٌ)).

حدثنا بذلك الفضل بن محمدٍ، قال: حدثنا هشام بن عبد الملك الحمصي، قال: حدثنا بقية، قال: حدثني عتبة بن أبي حكيمٍ، عن طلحة بن نافعٍ، عن كعبٍ، قال: أتيت عائشة -رضي الله عنها-، فقلت: هل سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ينعت الإنسان، وانظري هل يوافق نعتي نعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، قالت: انعت، قال: عيناه هاد، وأذناه قمع، ولسانه ترجمان، ورجلاه بريد، وكبده رحمة -أو قال- رأفة، ورئتاه نفس، وطحاله ضحك، وكلوتاه مكر، والقلب ملك، فإذا طاب الملك، طاب جنوده، وإذا فسد الملك، فسد جنوده، قالت: هكذا سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ينعت.وبلغنا: أن عمرو بن عتبة أو غيره كان يماشي أباه، فسمع رجلاً من خلفه يكلم عمراً بفضول من الكلام، فالتفت إلي وقال لي: ويلك -وما قال لي: ويلك قط غيرها-، إن هذا عمد إلى أخبث شيء في وعائه، فأفرغه في وعائك، فنزه سمعك من الخنا، كما تنزه لسانك.وروي: لنا عن موسى عليه السلام أنه قال له ربه: يا موسى! لا تجالس أصحاب الأهواء، فيحدثوا في قلبك ما لم يكن.فكلام ابن آدم على ضروب شتى:فمنها: ما يخلص للآخرة، ويصفو، فذلك مندوب إليه، موعود عليه خيراً.ومنها: ما يخلص للدنيا، ولا نصيب للآخرة فيها، فذاك مزجور عنه، موعود عليه عقوبة، ووبالاً.ومنها: ما يتجارى فيه الناس بينهم في أمر معاشهم، مما لا بد لهم منه في الأخذ، وفي الإعطاء، وفي تصرفه في أحوالهم، فذاك مأذون لهم فيه، والحساب من ورائه.والناس في أمر دينهم على ضربين:فضرب منهم: يعاملون الله على الوظائف كعبيد الغلة، يؤدون الغلة، وما بقي، فهو لهم، فقد خلى بينهم وبين ذلك، ثم هم في تصرفهم وأحوالهم يدبرون لأنفسهم، ويهتمون لها، ويكدون، ويسعون لنوائبهم، وينفقون على أنفسهم، وعيالاتهم، مشاغيل القلوب والأبدان، متعبون بذلك، فهم على تدبير أنفسهم يمضون باختيارهم الأمور لها يعملون، وعموم ذلك كله يتراكم على قلوبهم.يحتاجون إلى توفير الغلة على المولى، وتدبير معاشه، والاهتمام بأموره، ومرمة أمور عياله، وكذلك هذا الذي يعامل الله على هذا السبيل، عهد إليه ربه عهداً؛ من أداء فرائضه، واجتناب نواهيه ومحارمه في هذه الجوارح السبع من جسده، وفي ماله، ووعده على ذلك الجنة، ووعده على تضييع ذلك النار، وقال: {وأوفوا بعهدي أوف بعهدكم وإياي فارهبون}، {وإياي فاتقون}.فهو يقطع عمره بهذا، ويقتضي منه الثواب غداً، فإذا قدم على ربه، حاسبه، وحصل أموره، وبلا سرائره، فإذا وجده قد وفر حقوقه فيما عهد إليه، أعتقه من رق العبودة، ومكن له في داره، وملكه منها ما يكون جزاء ووفاء لسعيه، وكده.والضرب الآخر: يعاملون الله على العبودة، كعبيد الخدمة، انتبهوا من رقدة الغافلين الأولين، فاستوحشوا من هذا الفعل أن يدبروا لأنفسهم أمراً، وقد علموا أنه قد مضى التدبير من قبل خلق السماوات والأرض، وأثبته في اللوح المحفوظ، وأنه كل يوم هو في شأن، وأنه حي لا يموت، قيوم لا يمل ولا يعجز، فائتمنوه على أنفسهم، وألقوا بأيديهم إليه سلماً، وفوضوا إليه أمورهم، وشغلهم جلاله، وجماله، وعظمته، وكرمه، ومجده عن أن يتفرغوا لأنفسهم، فيفكروا، ويدبروا لأنفسهم أمراً، ويهتموا الرزق، أو يهربوا من حكم، أو يتخيروا عليه في شيء من الأحوال، عزاً، أو ذلاً، أو فقراً، أو غنًى، أو صحة أو سقماً، أو محبوباً أو مكروهاً، وقد وقفوا بقلوبهم بين يديه ناظرين إلى جلاله، مبهوتين في جماله، منفردين في وحدانيته، متعلقين بكرمه، ينتظرون رزقه، ويراقبون تدبيره، ويترجون من الأمور محابه، وآذانهم مصغية إلى دعوتهم، متى يدعون، فيجيبون، فكلام هؤلاء في المندوب إليه مما صفي للآخرة، وفي المأذون لهم مما يتجارى من أهل المعاش في أحوالهم، قد صار شيئاً واحداً؛ لأنهم له، وفي خدمته، وأموره، إن نطقوا، فله ينطقون، وإن صمتوا، فله يصمتون، وإن نطقوا، فعنه ينطقون، وإن صمتوا، فإياه يذكرون، وبه يشتغلون، وفي نجواه يرتاحون.وأما الآخرون: فإن نطقوا، فبإذنه ينطقون، فما كان للآخرة، فلرجاء ثوابه الذي وعد، وما كان للدنيا، مما لا نصيب للآخرة فيه، فلخوف عقابه الذي أوعد، وما كان للمعاش، ومتصرف الأمور مما أذن لهم فيه، فلعاجل نفع، أو دفع ضر عاجل من فعلي العادة، والغفلة عن الله عز وجل، فالحساب من ورائهم في ذلك، فإن نطقوا، فلما ذكرنا، وإن صمتوا، فلأجل عقاب وعاجل ضر، وإن نطقوا، فعن علومهم وعقولهم ينطقون، وإن صمتوا، ففي أحوالهم يفكرون، وإياه يذكرون، وبدنياهم يشتغلون، ووسواسهم يناجون، وفي منامهم وشهواتهم يرتاحون، فهذا الضرب من الناس ما كان صفاء من كلامهم للآخرة، فهم موعود ربهم من الثواب، وما كان في المعاش، وما لا بد منه مما أذن لهم فيه وقفوا للحساب، فذاك عليه لا له حتى يتخلص منه، فإن وجد كلاماً قد أذن له فيه، ولم يكن له منه بد، وهو على غفلة من ذلك، قد تكلم على عادة نشوئه، لم ينل به ثواباً؛ لأنه ليس مماابتغي به وجهه، فإن تخلص منه، لا له، ولا عليه، فنعم ما تخلص، مع أنه لا ينفك مع الخلاص من حسرة موجعة للقلب، مفجعة للنفس، إذ يرى أكثر عمره قد أهدره وأبطله.فأهل الغفلة حظهم يوم القيامة من أعمارهم: الأوقات والساعات التي كانوا في أمور آخرتهم من أعمال البر، وسائر ذلك هدر؛ لأنهم يطعمون، ويشربون، ويلبسون، وينامون، ويكسبون، ويرمون المعاش، وينفقون، ويتصرفون في حوائجهم، مقبلين ومدبرين، ليلهم ونهارهم شهوة، ونهمة وغفلة، لا نية لهم فيها، ولا حسبة، ويقدمون بها على ربهم، فلا يجدون عنده ثواباً، إنما يثابون على أعمال البر فقط؛ لأنهم عملوها على ذكر الآخرة، فاحتسبوا بها، ونووا فيها، وفي أمور معاشهم عملوا على العادة والشهوة، وحظ النفس، فليس لهم فيها ذكر آخرة.فلو حصلت حظوظهم من أعمارهم، لم تجدها يحصل لهم عشرها، فترى أحدهم ينشق ماؤه من مزرعته، فيسيل في الوادي هدراً، فيتلوى، ويقلق، ويضجر، ويتحسر على ما ضاع من مائه، ولو أن أحداً فعل به ذلك، لاستعدى عليه، وعاداه على ذلك، وهو يعلم أن عمره يهدر، فلا يكون له يوم القيامة إلا عشره، أو جزء من أجزاء قليلة .. ، فلا يضيق به صدراً، ولا يبالي به، فهو ما دام مصلياً أو تالياً لكتاب الله، أو مشيعاً جنازة، أو عائداً مريضاً، فهو حظه من عمره، ثم إذا خلا من هذه الأشياء، فهو في شهوة قونهمة، يعمل بهواه، بطال غافل، فكشف له عن الغطاء يوم الحسرة والندامة، قال الله تعالى: {وأنذرهم يوم الحسرة إذ قضى الأمر وهم في غفلةٍ وهم لا يؤمنون}.وقال: {ذرهم يأكلوا ويتمتعوا ويلههم الأمل فسوف يعلمون}.وقال: {اقترب للناس حسابهم وهم في غفلةٍ معرضون. ما يأتيهم من ذكرٍ من ربهم محدثٍ إلا استمعوه وهم يلعبون. لاهيةً قلوبهم}.فهذه صفة أهل الغفلة، صارت عامة أعمارهم لهواً ولعباً، وصار تناولهم من الدنيا تمتعاً، وشراً وأشراً، وألهتهم آمالهم عن ذكر الموت حتى نسوه، ولو ذكروا الموت، لحاسبوا أنفسهم، وارتدعوا، وانتبهوا، واشتغلوا بما هو أملك بهم.وإذا ذكرنا من أهل الغفلة هؤلاء الطبقة المشهورين المعروفين عند العامة بأعمال البر، وبالعدالة، وبالصلاح، وبالعلم، والرئاسة، قد رضوا من حظهم من الله بما نالوا من مرفق النفس في دار الفناء، ووصول إلى نهمة، ورضوا من دينهم بهذه الأعمال التي تستروا بها؛ ليحمدوا عند الخلق بذلك، ولا يلحظ قلوبهم إلى مالك الملك الذي يراهم على هذه الصفة، حتى يستحيوا منه، ولا يفكروا أن وشيكاً ما يعرون من هذه الأحوال، ويخرجون من الدنيا صفراً، فيبقون غداً على عرصة من الموقف وعرة وحشة بعيدة من الرحمة على خطر العقاب، وسخط الرحمن، يقبلون من النفس خدعها وأمانيها، حيث يقول: إن رحمة الله واسعة، ويجزيهم بذلك على ما هم فيه، فيخدعون لها، ويقبلون ذلك منها، حتى إذا بقواعلى ذلك الصراط الرقيق بين الجنة والنار مع حساب طويل، وذنوب كثيرة، وتبعات جمة، نادى: يا ويلاه! ماذا صنعت بنفسي؟.فقول رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: ((كلام ابن آدم كله عليه لا له، إلا هذه الخصال الثلاث)) هو للعامة.فأما أولياء الله وخاصة عبيده: فهم أمناؤه وخدمه، فأعمالهم ومتقلبهم كلها له، ولا تبعة عليهم في ذلك.ومما يحقق ذلك: قول حديث عائشة -رضي الله عنها- عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، عن جبريل، عن ربه -جل ذكره-، قال ((إذا أحببت عبدي: كنت سمعه وبصره، فبي يسمع، وبي يبصر، وبي ينطق، وبي يعقل)).فإذا صار العبد ممن به ينطق إذا نطق، فكيف يكون عليه في ذلك تبعة؟ بل يكون جميع سعيه وتصرفه في الأمور صارت آخرة، وإنما افتقرت الأمور فصارت بعضها آخرة، وبعضها دنيا لأهل الغفلة والبطالة، فلذلك احتاجوا عند كل رأس أمر إلى نية، حتى تصير كلها آخرة، فإذا لم يفعلوها، بطلت عامة أعمارهم، وهدرت تلك الأمور، إلا ما انفرد به للآخرة، ولم يكن للنفس فيه نصيب.وروي عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: أنه قال:((إن الله تعالى عند لسان كل قائلٍ، فاتقى الله امرؤٌ علم ما يقول)).
