نا صالح بن محمد، والجارود بن معاذ، وأبو طالب الهروي، قالوا: نا عبد المجيد بن عبد العزيز، عن مروان بن سالم، عن صفوان بن عمرو، عن شريح بن عبيد الحضرمي، عن أبي الدرداء، قال: كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا بلغه عن رجل شدة عبادة، سأل: كيف عقله؟ [فإذا قالوا حسن، قال: أرجوه] فإن قالوا غير ذلك، قال: لن يبلغ، وذكر للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عن رجل من أصحابه شدة عبادة واجتهاد، قال: ((كيف عقله؟))، قالوا: ليس بشيءٍ، قال عليه السلام: ((لن يبلغ صاحبكم حيث تظنون)).

نا أبي، قال: نا جندل بن والق الكوفي،قال: نا عبيد الله بن عمرو الرقي، [عن إسحاق بن عبد الله بن أبي فروة]، عن نافع، عن ابن عمر، قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: ((لا يعجبكم إسلام رجلٍ حتى تعلموا ما عقدة عقله)).قال أبو عبد الله رحمه الله:فالعقل خلق مخلوق من نور البهاء، مقسوم بين الموحدين من ولد آدم، موضوع في دماغه، وإشراقه وشعاعه ومعتمله في الصدر بين عيني الفؤاد، فهو مدبر الأمر، زاجر وآمر، ومقدر، ومميز، ومزين، ومبصر، ودليل، وهادٍ، فبه عرف ربه، وبه علم ربوبيته، وبه نظر إلى تدبيره، وإلى ما أظهر لخلقه من ملكه وعجائب صنعه، وبه عرف جواهر الأمور من أمر الدين والدنيا، وبه ينهض إلى ربه.وذلك النهوض اسمه على ألسنة الخلق: النية؛ من قوله: ناء ينوء؛ أي: نهض ينهض، وإنما ينهض بقصده وإلقاء همته، لا أنه ينخلع من مكانه، فهمه وقصده نيته، وهي النهوض عن السكون، فهمم القلوب تطير إلى الله بنور العقول التي لها على قدر حظه من العقل الذي قسم له ربه، وبين القسم تفاوت، فإنما تفاوتت الرسل والأنبياء، ومن دونهم من الموحدين في منازل الدين، وفي درجات الجنان غداً، بتفاضل العقول، فالعبادة والاجتهاد فيها من دأب النفس ما هو وبال على صاحبه؛ لأن دأب النفس هو الهوى الذي حذرنا اتباعه في التنزيل، فقال: {ولا تتبع الهوى فيضلك عن سبيل الله}.فإذا كانت العبادة والاجتهاد فيها، فخرجها من تدبير العقل، استقام الأمر، وصفت العبادة، وذهب الجهد؛ لأن الجهد من ضيق النفس وعسرتها، والهوى يضيق أمرها عليها، وهي في ذاتها معسرة عسرة ذات نكر؛ لخلائها وفقرها، وتزاحم شهواتها في الجوف، فإذا جاء العقل وغلب الهوى، ارتد الهوى، قهقرى، وذل وخمد سلطانه، فعند ذلك سكنت النفس، واستقرت عن التذبذب والطيش، ووجد القلب قراره في مستقره؛ لأن القلب معلق في موضعه بعروقه كالدلو بأذنيه، أو كقنديل بسلاسله، فإذا تحركت النفس، وجاء أهبوب الهوى، فجاش بالنفس، ودار بها دوران الرحا، تذبذب القلب، فإذا كان العقل ولي القلب، غالباً للهوى، فالهوى مقضي مدحور ذليل، والقلب أمير مؤمر عدل في إمارته، فلا يستعمل جارحة إلا بما يدبر له العقل، ويزين وينهج سبيله، فلذلك كان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا سمع بعبادة رجل، سأل عن عقله.فإذا كان العقل مغلوباً، كان القلب أسير الهوى والنفس، فهو -وإن اجتهد في العبادة- فعامة عبادته خطأ وجهل، كما فعل جريج الراهب حيث نادته أمه وهو في صومعته في صلاته، فقال: يا رب! صلاتاه وأماه؟ فاختار الصلاة، ولم يجب أمه، فقالت أمه: اللهم ارمه بالمومسات، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: ((فلو دعت أن يفتنه بهن، لافتتن)). وقال: ((لو كان جريج الراهب فقيهاً عالماً، لعلم أن إجابة أمه من عبادة ربه)).وكان من أمره ما كان، وعوقب بجهله وهواه لما آثر صلاته على إجابته أمه، فتلك عبادة المفتونين.

نا عبد الوهاب بن فليح المكي، قال: نا مروان ابن معاوية، عن الحسن بن عمرو، قال: نا عبد الرحمن بن سعد بن ذئاب، عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه، عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: أن جريج الراهب كان متعبداً في صومعته. الخبر إلى آخره.قال مجاهد: فكان المولود أحد الثلاثة الذين تكلموا في المهد.

نا إبراهيم بن المستمر الهذلي، قال: نا الحكم بن الريان اليشكري، قال: حدثني ليث بن سعد، قال: نا يزيد بن حوشب الفهري، عن أبيه، قال: سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: ((لو كان جريج الراهب فقيهاً عالماً،لعلم أن إجابته أمه من عبادة ربه)).وروي لنا عن نافع، قال: مطرنا ليلة بمكة مطرة شديدة في ليلة مظلمة، قال لي ابن عمر: يا نافع! اذهب فانظر: هل ترى في الطواف أحداً؟ فذهبت فوجدت ابن الزبير يطوف، ثم صلى عند المقام ركعتين، فلما سجد، جاء السيل فطاف على رأسه، فجئت فأخبرت ابن عمر بذلك، فقال: هذه عبادة مفتون.
